There are a total of 77 Collectibles in The Order: 1886 – 16 Phonograph Cylinders, 10 Newspapers, 11 Photographs, 16 Documents, 10 Objects, 14 Items. You have to find and inspect all collectible locations to unlock the following 5 trophies:

None of the collectibles are missable! You can search for missing items via chapter select at any time during the story or after beating the story. Your progress does also carry over when starting a new game.
Unfortunately, there is no tracker for the collectibles, except for the Phonograph Cylinders (these can be viewed in the “Archive” of the pause menu, but you don’t have to listen to them to unlock the trophy). Because there is no tracker it’s almost impossible to figure out what you are missing, so be very careful that you don’t miss anything. Just to be safe you should always view both pages of every photograph and document and inspect all objects with the left stick.
It doesn’t matter on which difficulty you are playing. The collectibles can all be found on easy difficulty or any other difficulty! Almost all of the collectibles are in areas where no enemies are spawning. After finding a collectible you may quit to the main menu immediately and your progress will be saved (no need to reach the next checkpoint). You do not have to pick them up again if you die or restart the checkpoint.
The game also contains lots of story-related objects that cannot be missed (doors, ladders, rubble blocking the way, weapons and other gear you are forced to pick up to progress in the game). The unmissable story objects are not inlcuded in this video guide series to minimize spoilers and because they are obtained automatically as part of the story.
There are 16 chapters in total, but many of them do not contain any collectibles at all. The following chapters do not have any collectibles: Prologue, chapter 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16.

Prologue – Once a Knight

Chapter 1 – Always a Knight
#1 – Newspaper #1 – 0:05
After going through the door on the rooftop (start of the chapter), go down the stairs and the first newspaper will be on a crate on the left side.
#2 – Photograph #1 – 0:54
From the first newspaper go downstairs and it will be on a table at the bottom of the staircase.
#3 – Phonograph Cylinder #1: Le Morte D’Arthur – 1:18
The first phonograph cylinder is very close to where you found the first photograph. Just go through the next door and it will be on a table on the right side.
#4 – Document #1 – 1:35
After climbing down the ladder look for this document on a trash can on the left corner of the area.
#5 – Object #1 – 2:03
From the previous collectible go down the alley and this will be on a wooden barrel on the left side of the alley. Do not walk too far or you might trigger a cutscene!
Chapter 2 – Amongst Equals

All three collectibles in this chapter are in Tesla’s lab. When you step out of the elevator, look on the table on the right side.

Chapter 3 – Inequalities
#1 – Newspaper #2 – 0:05
From where the chapter starts, turn around immediately and search the area behind you. It’s on a wooden crate in the back of this area.
#2 – Object #3 – 0:33
After helping your teammates to lift some rubble out of the way you will see a short cutscene where they go through a gate. Now follow your other teammate, he will go up some stairs and break a barricade to enter a building. In this building is the object on the right side.
#3 – Document #4 – 1:02
After the mini-cutscene where you have to throw an apple at an enemy go downstairs into the shelter for the homeless. Here you will find the document at the end of the room.
#4 – Item #1 – 1:37
The first item you come across is really just a conversation. After pushing through a tight alleyway you will have to complete a QTE to help a woman. Talk to the woman after the cutscene.
#5 – Newspaper #3 – 2:39
From where you spoke to the woman head to the end of the area (before going into the next building). At the end of the area is the next newspaper on a barrel.
#6 – Photograph #2 – 2:58
In the brothel, to the right of the entrance.
#7 – Object #4 – 3:31
In the middle of the brothel, on the roulette table.
#8 – Document #5 – 3:45
In the brothel, where your teammate is waiting, on a table.
#9 – Phonograph Cylinder #2: Sons and Daughters of Britain – 4:06
After escaping the brothel you will be on the rooftops. You will have to jump over to a room with a crank in it. The crank must be used to move some rubble out of the way. Before moving on to the next area, be sure to search the room with the crank to find this Phonograph Cylinder.
#10 – Phonograph Cylinder #3: The Anarchists 12.10.86 – 4:27
Same area as the previous Cylinder. After using the crank to move the rubble out of the way drop down to the ledge and move all the way to the left (not to the right as the story requires you to). This will bring you to a hidden rooftop and there in a chest is the phonograph cylinder.
#11 – Document #6 – 5:18
Quite a bit later (~15 minutes later) after the huge battle in the courtyard you have to move a cart together with your teammate. Do so and climb up the cart, then go into a building on the left.
#12 – Object #5 – 5:55
Shortly after the last collectible you will have to make a big jump from one rooftop to another. Enter through the window and you will find a little Sackboy puppet (from Little Big Planet) on a cupboard on the right.
#13 – Document #7 – 6:24
When one of your teammates gets wounded and you help dragging him to a safehouse you can find the document in said safehouse.
#14 – Newspaper #4 – 6:47
After using thermite to destroy a bridge you have to jump over to a balcony of a building. Enter the building and inside (on the top floor where you enter) is the last collectible of this chapter.
Chapter 4 – An Endless Battle
#1 – Item #2 – 0:05
Around 5 minutes after the start of this chapter you will leave the underground section and see a cutscene. Now you are in a little chapel and there is a corpse on the ground where you entered. The corpse is the 2nd item in the game, interact with it.
#2 – Document #8 – 0:30
Same room as the previous collectible, on a table at the end of the chapel.
#3 – Item #3 – 0:55
When investigating the dark basement there are several prison cells in a corridor you have to go through. Interact with the first prison cell on the left.

All of the remaining collectibles from this chapter are in the rebel hideout. You will have to investigate the collectibles in this area for a while before you can continue the story. Search the place carefully. The photo is on a cupboard on the left of the room.

Chapter 5 – Agamemnon Rising

Same place where the story requires you to disrupt the power of the magnetic lock. Look on the opposite side of where the lock is.
#2 – Phonograph Cylinder #6: Agamemnon Christening – 0:35
After taking control of the cockpit (short QTE fight to kill some enemies) you have to pick the lock of a door. After going through that door you must take the path on the left side. This Phonograph is at the end of the path.
#3 – Newspaper #5 – 1:02
A little bit shorter, after sneaking (or sneak-killing) your way past a group of enemies you must go through a tight corridor. There is only one open room on the left side, at the end of the corridor. Here you will find the newspaper. This is before you enter the wooden door that is marked as a main objective.
#4 – Phonograph Cylinder #7: Evacuation Procedures – 1:26
On a table in the middle of the armory. You will come here through normal story progress after a lengthy cutscene.
#5 – Document #10 – 1:53
Again in the armory, but in the locked room where all the weapons are. Disrupt the power lock to get access.
#6 – Item #10 – 2:39
After leaving the armory, go through the corridor and look for the corpse in the next room. Inspect the corpse.
#7 – Photograph #4 – 3:23
After going through the kitchen you will see a cutscene where you get split up with your teammate. After the cutscene look on the right side of the corridor to find the last collectible in this chapter.

Chapter 9 – An Uneasy Alliance

In the start of the chapter you will walk straight into this document. When moving the rubble out of the way it’s on the table.
#2 – Phonograph Cylinder #8: The Anarchists 16.10.86 – 0:29
After pushing the cart all the way to the end of the tunnel you must not follow your teammate. Instead, turn around and head the other way into a small tunnel. At the end of this tunnel is a crate that contains a phonograph cylinder.
#3 – Object #7 – 1:08
After leaving the tunnels, go to the end of the area outside and to the left. Here in the corner of the area you will find a hammer on a table.
#4 – Photograph #5 – 1:37
Quite a bit later, after you have to eliminate a sniper and escape some enemies, you will come to a foundry. The photo is next to the door where your teammate is waiting.
#5 – Phonograph Cylinder #9: Cable from the new Continent – 1:59
From the last collectible you must make your way to the other side of the door to open it for your teammate. You will also find a phonograph cylinder on the other side (where you have to open the door).
#6 – Newspaper #6 – 2:17
After being ambushed by some enemies you must leave the foundry. When you are outside head to the left side where your teammate is waiting. Do not interact with her yet! Instead, turn around and search in the corner of the area to pick up this newspaper.
#7 – Photograph #6 – 2:39
After a lengthy cutscene you will be in a building. Go up the stairs, here in an office sideroom you will find a photograph.
#8 – Object #8 – 3:05
From where you found the last photograph, head into the next building and enter the big room in the middle. There’s a miniature ship on the left that you need to inspect.
#9 – Phonograph Cylinder #10: Cargo Inspection Log – 3:23
Go down the stairs from the last collectible, but don’t go where you teammates are waiting. Instead, head to the right and you will find a locked room. Pick the lock and inside you will find a phonograph cylinder.
#10 – Document #12 – 4:20
Quite a bit later, after fighting lots of enemies on the deck of a ship and then in a courtyard you will have to enter a building (which triggers a short cutscene). You are now in a storage area with two weapons on the table in front of you and your teammate is waiting in the corner of the room, inspecting some weapons. You must investigate the left corner of the room to find this document on the ground floor.
#11 – Photograph #7 – 4:53
Head up the stairs from where you found the last collectible (same storage room) and you will find the photograph on a table.
#12 – Document #13 – 5:15
You are now entering a large storage area where you are supposed to look for red markings on crates until you find a crate you can reach. This document is on the right side of the room, close to where you entered.
#13 – Object #9 – 5:40
At the end of the same storage room as the previous document, on a table.
Chapter 10 – Confrontations

Chapter 11 – Brothers in Arms
#1 – Newspaper #7 – 0:05
This newspaper is in the building you enter in the very beginning of the chapter. It’s in the same room where you enter, on a table.
#2 – Photograph #8 – 0:25
In the next room from where you found the newspaper (again on a small table). Do not interact with the crossbow yet! The photograph you are looking for is on the right side of the room, whereas the crossbow is on the left side and will trigger a cutscene that brings you to a new area.
#3 – Phonograph Cylinder #11: The Anarchists 17.10.86 – 0:43
When you are on the rooftops you will see your teammate swing over to another rooftop (via a lantern). There are two ways you can go. Either use the lantern to swing over yourself, or use the stairs. To pick up this collectible you must go downstairs and open a crate to reveal the phonograph cylinder.
#4 – Newspaper #8 – 1:25
In the gardens, where you have to open a gate. Before opening the gate, turn around and look for a small side room with some ammo in it. Here you can also find the newspaper.
#5 – Photograph #9 – 1:51
After meeting up with your teammate again you have to jump over a wall (your teammate helps you to do so). Now you must follow an enemy by picking the lock of a door. Behind the door is the photograph on a small table on the right side.
#6 – Object #10 – 2:38
After meeting up with the rebel leader you will be outside in a different part of the gardens again. There is an enemy patrolling the area. Kill him and look for a door on the right side of the area. Enter to find the final Object in the game.Power of Obversation unlocked!
#7 – Phonograph Cylinder #12: News from the East Indies – 3:11
After entering the United India House (looks like a palace) you will be attacked by lots of enemies, especially some with powerful shotguns. Take everyone out and head downstairs where your teammate opens a door. Behind the door is the phonograph cylinder.
#8 – Document #14 – 3:30
In the same room where you found the phonograph cylinder is a power lock. Disrupt the lock to get access to the room that contains the document.
#9 – Phonograph Cylinder #13: Ramayana, First Verse – 4:08
After the last collectible you have to fight your way through another room with enemies and go up some marble stairs. This will bring you to a balcony you have to defend, but for now you should investigate the room on the left side of the balcony (where you entered via the marble stairs). Here at the end of a long table is the phonograph cylinder.

After killing the first group of enemies in this area you must head left (normal story path). But now the path splits up and you can either go left or right. Head left to find a crate at the end of a corridor. It contains the final Phonograph Cylinder. Archivist unlocked!
#4 – Photograph #11 – 1:31
After fighting against lots and lots of enemies you have to make your way through some lengthy corridors. You will see that the ceiling starts shaking and dust comes falling down. When this happens you are about to reach a room where you have to break a small barricade to get through a door. The same room contains the very last collectible in the game. Detail Oriented and Inspector First Class unlocked!
