Zelda Tears of the Kingdom The Hornist's Dramatic Escape Walkthrough

The Hornist’s Dramatic Escape is a Side Adventure quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Hornist’s Dramatic Escape side adventure mission.

Location: Hebra > Tabantha Frontier > Piper Ridge

Quest Info: You met the horn player, Eustus, who has fallen into a hole in Tabantha Frontier along with his wagon. He wants to get out, but not without his wagon. Is there some way to help?

Starting Location: The Hornist’s Dramatic Escape

First you must have started Side Adventure: Serenade to Mija. As part of this adventure, you will meet Eustus who will give you a new sub-adventure “The Hornist’s Dramatic Escape”.

Free Eustus from the Hole

This is a relatively short quest. All you must do is put together the wagon with 2 hot air balloons on top and a fan on the back. Then tell Eustus to enter the wagon and use it to lift him out the hole.

Start by putting the square-shaped metal grate on top of the wagon. Put the 2 Flame Emitters (dragon heads) on top like so:

Attach the two balloons on top of the Flame Emitters.

Attach one fan on the back of the wagon.

Use Ultrahand to place the wagon near the edge of the hole. The finished product looks like this:

Talk to the quest giver and tell him “Get in the wagon!”.

Climb on the wagon with him and hit the fan in the back. This will activate all Zonai devices simultaneously. The Flame Emitters will fill the balloons with hot air which lifts up the cart, meanwhile the fan on the back pushes it forward so you move forward and away from the hole.

If you have never upgraded your battery before, you may run out of battery before flying far enough. In that case you can consume a Zonai Charge from the inventory to refill the battery in midair. When you are safely out of the hole, Eustus will talk to you and the quest ends.
