Zelda Tears of the Kingdom – Prologue Walkthrough

May 11, 2023 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

Prologue is a Main Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Prologue story mission.

Requirement: None, this is the starting quest
Reward:
Purah Pad (unlocks World Map & Quest Log)

Objectives:

  • Go through Hyrule Castle Ruins
  • Leave Hyrule Castle Ruins
  • Find Steward Construct

Starting Location: Prologue

The game starts with Link and Princess Zelda exploring the ruins beneath Hyrule Castle. You can only go one way here, follow the tunnels straight ahead.

Go through Hyrule Castle Ruins

Simply follow the linear path through the tunnel. There will be a series of cutscenes and dialogues along the way. At one point there is a small fight against bats, afterward keep going downstairs until you reach the end of the tunnel. A cutscene triggers here that results in Link losing his powers. You will be set back to only 3 health-hearts. Afterward, Link and Zelda get split up.

Leave Hyrule Castle Ruins

Link is on his own now. You will regain control of him in a cave. A voice speaks to him and says he lost his arm, but the voice was kind enough to replace it with a new one.

Now pick up Links Decayed Master Sword straight ahead. It was destroyed by the gloom but we can still use it to slice. Equip it from the :+: inventory and press :y2: to attack the vines blocking the path.

Examine the green Shrine in the next room. It opens the door forward.

Follow the path, jump down into the water, then climb the next wall. You can climb by simply walking against the wall and Link will automatically grab it.

Jump down into the next two pools of water. The second one is a big jump but here the game will teach you that no matter how big of a fall you take, water will always protect you from taking fall damage.

After the jump there’s a chest on the left. Open it for Archaic Legwear. Feel free to equip it from the :+: inventory for a defense boost.

Now head towards the light at the end of the tunnel and jump down!

Find Steward Construct

As you fall you will get your first glimpse at Great Sky Island, the game’s first location. You will automatically land in water.

Swim straight ahead to the stone stairs, in the direction where a flying dragon is in the sky.

Pick up a Tree Branch to defend yourself. You can equip it by holding :right: and :r-right: / :r-left: to pick a weapon from the weapon list.

Keep heading in the direction of the flying dragon in the sky.

You won’t have access to the world map yet so this is the easiest reference point for now. You will encounter one enemy. Strike him with :y2: . If your tree branch breaks quickly pick up another. You can grab some apples and eat them from the inventory to heal.

Loot what the enemy drops. Then keep going in the direction of the flying dragon until you reach a broken stone bridge with a green “metal object” on the left. Interact with this green object.

Turns out it’s not an object at all, it’s a Steward Construct! These are friendly robots you will meet all over the game, they give you tips and explain gameplay mechanics to you. This one explains that he has waited for Link and that Princess Zelda left him a Purah Pad. This unlocks the World Map by pressing :-: .

This officially starts the first proper Main Quest Find Princess Zelda. You can press :-: to open the Adventure Log and see the yellow waypoint in the north of the map at the Temple of Time.

Next Quest: Find Princess Zelda
