Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TotK) has 120 Lightroot Locations. Lightroots are found exclusively underground in The Depths. Each Lightroot shines a light when activated and reveals more of the Depths Map. You need all 120 to unfog the whole map.
They look like big glowing roots from afar. Walk below and interact with them to lighten up the surrounding area. Each Lightroot also adds a fast travel point and heals grayed-out hearts that were damaged by gloom. They are also needed for 100% game completion. In total all Lightroots account for 4.8% game completion (0.04% per Lighroot).
It’s also worth noting that the Lightroots are directly below the Surface Level Shrines. Each of them connects to a Shrine, except for Sky Shrines which aren’t connected to roots. So if you have Shrines unlocked on the Surface Map you can press D-Pad down on the map, put a marker at the same spot in the Depths and that’s where a Lightroot will be. Likewise, if you have Lightroots revealed you can press D-Pad up and put a marker on the Surface Map to know where a Shrine is.
None of the Lightroots are missable. You can still find all of them after the story. You enter the Depths by dropping down any chasm, marked by red craters on the Surface Map. The Depths are pitch-black and hard to navigate. The most efficient method would be to first do Main Quest: Guidance from Ages Past. This unlocks a companion that creates a permanent light source and lets you get across gloom without taking damage. This makes navigation easier. Alternatively, if you explore before this point, consume meals that add a glowing effect or throw Brightbloom Seeds to make light.
