This guide provides an overview of what is needed for 100% game completion in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK). Each completion category is linked below to guides that show everything you need. Nothing is missable. After the story you can continue from the Title Screen and it will put you back before the endboss. Then you can still free-roam and finish all remaining tasks.
After the story you will get a 100% completion tracker on the right side of the world map above the daytime. It will also add a quest counter in the Adventure Log that shows how many quests you have done in each category and how many are remaining, as shown below. This is not visible during the story, the 100% tracker only becomes available after the Final Main Quest.
Do note that the Map Completion Percent and Quest Completion have separate trackers. The map completion only goes up whenever you get the white “Discovery” text on the screen, it grants a fixed 0.04% progress per Discovery. You must reveal all icons of all types on the map for 100% map completion. The quest completion is tracked separately in the Adventure Log and shows how many quests you have done per category, this does not increase the map completion.
All of the following is required for 100% completion (click the links for guides to each category):
Quests Completion
Map Icons Completion
Everything that shows the “discovery” text at the top of the screen grants 0.04% map progress per discovery, as displayed in the bottom right corner of the map after the story. You need to reveal all icons and locations on the map to obtain 100% map completion. Everything that has a map icon counts as a discovery. Chests, Armor, Armor Upgrades, and Open World Bosses don’t count towards 100% completion.
- 152 Shrines (0.04% progress per shrine for 6.08% total)
- 120 Lightroots (0.04% progress per Lightroot for 4.8% total)
- 15 Skyview Towers (0.04% progress per Tower for 0.6% total)
- 14 Main Stables (0.04% progress per stable for 0.56% total)
- 4 Great Fairies (0.04% per fairy for 0.16% total)
- 12 Tears of the Dragon (0.04% per tear/geoglyph for 0.48% total)
- 30 Device Dispensers (0.04% progress per dispenser for 1.2% total)
- 2 Tech Labs (0.04% progress per lab for 0.08% total)
- 7 Bargainer Statues (0.04% progress per statue for 0.28% total)
- 1000 Korok Seeds (0.04% progress per Korok Seed for 40% total)
- 58 Wells (0.04% progress per well for 2.32% total)
- Settlements & Named Map Locations with Icons (0.04% progress per settlement)
- Special Shops & Crystal Refineries (0.04% progress per shop)
- Caves (0.04% progress per cave)
- Chasms (0.04% progress per chasm)
There are also 509 Hyrule Compendium Entries (92 Creatures, 110 Monsters, 126 Materials, 175 Equipment, 6 Treasures), but these don’t count towards 100% on the map tracker.

i have seen a 100% BOTW speedrun on Youtube the other day, and beside all the things this article listed, the guy also said that having every armor and armor Upgrade also counts towards the 100%, as well as killIng every monster (or boss?) on the map. does this also apply to totk?
PowerPyx says
Armor and Armor Upgrades don’t increase the % counter.
Bosses and enemies also don’t increase the % counter.
I’ve added a note about this 🙂
PhantomFear94 says
That is a LOT of stuff. Will probably do all Main Quests, Side Quests, Side Adventures and Shrines and do the discovery stuff throughout the rest of the year around Xbox/PS completions. That is hundreds upon hundreds of hours!
sam says
I finished the last Main Quest and defeated Ganondorf but it’s not showing me my completion percentage?
PowerPyx says
From Title Screen click Continue, your save should get a Star icon to indicate it’s the “finished story save”. Then open the map and check bottom right corner, above the daytime it will now show completion %.
McGruder says
I have a completed savefile after defeating the final boss. But the main story quests are still at 21/23. Did something go wrong or do they count regardless? I do have the percentage counter on the map screen.
PhantomFear94 says
Same here.
Logan Yerkes says
It will always show 21/23 because in the final boss fight at the end, you complete both of those quests, and you can do the final boss fight as many times as you want, so it will never show 23/23 post game.
RedOcelot says
The Akkala Tech Lab doesn’t have a map marker from what I can tell.
Chibitori says
A map marker? You mean like a fast travel spot? I believe you have to do a quest for Robbie before he puts a fast travel pad at the doorstep of the lab.
Wolf says
I’m missing 0.05%, does anyone know what could be missing?
Ace says
Some caves have more than 1 entrance so you just have to enter the other way maybe?
Jorsh11215 says
I’m missing 0.05% too, were you able to find it?
Adrien says
i’m also missing 0.05%, did you figure it out ?
Spirit of The Past says
In case someone else looking to 100% the map missing 0.05% finds this. The Deku Tree Chasm for some reason does not register consistently.
Jeremy says
I was just wondering to we have to complete each cave by getting the frog or just unlock it for the percent to go up?
PixelRat says
I’m trying to figure out how much of the Settlements, Shops/Refineries, Caves and Chasms (dubbed “Other” category) I have left, but my numbers don’t add up. Everything but Koroks and Other is 16.56%. Koroks are 40% which leaves 43.44 for Other. That’s the MOST it can be. According to the loading screen I have 132 Koroks (5.28%) and I know I have all 16.56 from everything else. My total is 67.85% so far, which means my Other percentage is already 46.01, which shouldn’t be possible. Not only that, 868 more Koroks is 34.72%, which when added to my current total would put me at 102.57%. Am I missing something? Do some things count in multiple categories? (e.g. Towers, Wells, Labs, etc also count towards Other)
PowerPyx says
There are definitely a few inconsistencies with how the game counts stuff. Some named locations get counted double as 0.08% for no good reason.
HvK says
2 korok seed after joining friends just counts as 1 korok seed location, so the fact is after reaching 1000 korok seeds in your counter you will not have found 1000 korok seed locations, which are the ones that really count for map fulfillment purposes.
Bass Brigade says
228 meal recipe cards
Link says
They count for 100 percent ?
Filip says
I dont get what counts as a „settlement“. Do you mean bridges and random houses not related to any town?
Finn says
My side quests show 138/139 I’ve counted the list several times as well as compared it to different lists online and it’s definitely 139 quests, I’m assuming my game is broken, but also has anyone else encountered that issue?
slime says
do you know which one you’re missing?
