Darkness Over the Hanshui River is the 9th main mission in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. This walkthrough will guide you through all areas of the Darkness Over the Hanshui River Main Quest.

Battle Flag 1
For this mission, you’ll be aided by two ally reinforcements, namely Sun Ce and Sun Quan. From the start, head right, defeat the Shuigui and then drop down from the top of the wooden shipwreck at the end to land on a platform with a Golden Cicada Shell.
After picking it up, retrace your steps and interact with the boat by the wooden platform between the tower and the pool to unmoor it.
Now follow it and when it stops use it as a platform to reach the bigger boat.
Drop down into the pool below and kill the Shuigui.
After a short while, a Zhupolong will emerge from the ground, which is controlling the Battle Flag’s corruption. Encourage both of your allies to take on him directly and let them handle most of the fight to play it safe, then raise Battle Flag 2.
Battle Flag 2
Now enter the shipwrecked boat from its stern, then climb up the ladder and get to the very top of the boat to find a Warlock corrupting some of the demons on the mid level of the ship. Kill him, and then the remaining enemies.
From the Warlock’s and the other two enemies’ location, drop down into the lower section of the boat to find Battle Flag 3 at its bow.
Battle Flag 3
Continue down into the boat below and unmoor the wooden boat, then follow it and this will get you back to Battle Flag 2.
Cross the gap using the boat you’ve just unmoored and kill the Shuigui in the area, then the Zhupolong.
After getting rid of the demons, climb up the ladder, kill the Demonized Office and the Warlock lower deck and then continue behind where the Warlock was to find Marking Flag 1.
Now return to the where you battled against the Zhupolong, climb up the other boat using the crates, and then get to lower deck.
Here, get rid of the Demonized Officer, then open the door. Climb up the ladder and you’ll find Marking Flag 2.
Now continue on the same boat and you should be at a fork, with a Demonized Officer walking to and fro on a pier.
Ignore the demon and instead go through the opening and to the very end of the boat to find a ladder. Climb it up and continue along the wooden walkway, then drop down the hole.
Get rid of the Demonized Officer and then walk along the piers to eventually reach land again. Continue through the slowing ponds and then defeat the stronger version of the Shuigui.
Afterwards, unmoor the boat from the nearby pier to create a shortcut back to Battle Flag 3, and then continue uphill.
Here, you’ll be invaded, so dispose of Huang Zu and then the two Fanatics in front of the gate. Before doing anything else, walk across the pier that’s behind the pond where the Shuigui was to reach another boat guarded by a Demonized Officer and a crystal-wielding Warlock.
Dispose of them and then climb up the boat to find Marking Flag 3.
In the back of the same boat, lower deck, you can find Brocade Sail Pirate’s Scribblings tablet in a small chest.
Get back to the gate, but don’t go through it yet. Instead, walk past it. Continue on and walk past the big staircase leading into the building. Here, defeat the demons and in a corner you’ll find Marking Flag 4.
Go up the stairs and defeat the spawning Suanyu, then open the doors to the building. Climb up the ladder and double jump to the nearby tower to find Marking Flag 5, basically directly above Marking Flag 4.
Now continue to the other side to find Battle Flag 4.
Battle Flag 4
From Battle Flag 4, drop down to the other side and clear the area of the Shuigui, then climb up the roof near the pool. Just for reference, the roof is actually opposite the rubble stairs you came down from after raising Battle Flag 4. Follow the rooftops leading to a second pool with another Shuigui, but check the small balcony overlooking the area. Here you can find Marking Flag 6.
Drop down, kill the Shuigui and then continue along the canal and you’ll find a Demonized Officer. Continue down the road as though you were to get back to the gate and you’ll find a Corpse Demon guarding the corruption of the nearby Battle Flag. Dispose of him, including and especially the Fanatics throwing fire bombs which can prove quite bothersome. Then, raise Battle Flag 5.
Battle Flag 5
From Battle Flag 5, go back to the barricade broken bridge where the Demonized Officer was and head right. Kill the Shuigui and then the Corpse Demon. Unmoor the boat and then go back to Battle Flag 5 where you can find some wooden scaffolding you can climb up on.
Drop down to the other side to find a Suanyu. Kill him and raise Marking Flag 7.
Now open the gate. Return to Battle Flag 5 and opposite it, inside a building, you can find a Shitieshou.
Now use the boat you’ve just unmoored to get to the other side and raise Battle Flag 6, the final one for this level.
Battle Flag 6
Facing Battle Flag 6, head left and grab the item at the end. Then, turn around to find a small wooden balcony. Double-jump to it and enter the hut to find a chest containing Dragon Vein Essence.
Return to Battle Flag 6 and this time head right. Right after the broken half of the barricaded bridge, enter the house on the left to find Xingyang Townswoman’s Diary tablet.
Continue down the road to eventually having to kill a Corpse Demon. Behind him, at the end of the road, is Marking Flag 8.
Return to where the Corpse Demon was and climb up the side platform to get into an open building, leading you to an area with a Shuigui.
Continue past the pool to enter a new area with some Fanatics, a Zhupolong and a Shuigui. Here, you can open a gate shortcut leading you back to Battle Flag 6.
You’re now ready to battle the boss.
Sun Jian Boss Fight
Sun Jian is a massive tiger-looking demon. He mainly uses his tail and claws in his move set. This fight shouldn’t prove too demanding. It’s three against one and Sun Jian has only one phase. For the entire fight, use your Spirit gauge to encourage your allies and to cast Imposing Slab for considerable damage. Additionally, you want to have Tengshe as your main Divine Beast to inflict a series of debuffs on the boss. With Imposing Slab, Tengshe, and your two allies, this boss will go down quite fast.
