Introduction
Welcome to the small world of Wellington Wells, set in an alternate reality in which Germany has won the second world war and Great Britain had to sent over workers and children to Germany in order to avoid a complete occupation by the Nazis. It is the 1960’s and the population is high on a happiness-inducing drug called “Joy”, so that they may forget the atrocities committed by them to avoid being occupied. You mainly play as Arthur Hastings, who has decided to refuse taking his Joy and is branded as a “downer”, for seeing the world how it really is.
In Act II and III you’ll play as Sally Boyle and Ollie Starkey, who used to play a big roll in Arthur’s past. The game itself is an open world first-person stealth game. It can be described as a combination of BioShock because of the setting and twisted humor throughout and Fallout because of the survival game elements it has.
You will be looking at at least 1 playthrough to get this platinum and it will take you about 30-50 hours using this guide, depending on how much you simply stroll around the world.
Step 1: Arthur
Simply play through the game without killing anyone. Use the collectible guide alongside it so you don’t miss any of them. It’s recommended that you complete the main quests as quickly as possible, so you unlock the whole map. The very last mission of Act I will warn you of the point of no return, as the story will transition over to Sally’s point of view once you complete it. Make sure that you save the game right there and then and take care of the trophies related to the side quests: “The Slaughterer’s Apprentice“, “The Importance of Not Being seen“, “Cat Burglar” and “Resistance is Futile” as you won’t be able to complete them with Sally later on. Also make sure that you get the collectible trophies related to Arthur: “Our Prudent Friend“, “Shocking Biology“, “Gimme Shelter” and also part of the collectibles for “Remember, Remember” and “Hot On Her Heels“.
Furthermore, the character specific trophies that can only be gotten when playing as Arthur are: “Arthur Haste-ings“, “Snug as a Bug on a Drug“, “Employee of the Month” and “Enjoy the View“, so make sure to pick these up as well.
Step 2: Sally
Sally’s act will be a lot shorter and has no side quests that could possibly be missed. Just make sure not to kill anyone, to collect all the collectibles needed for “Remember, Remember” and “Hot On Her Heels” and to get “I Love the Smell of Chloroform in the Morning” and “Gotta Catch Them All!” while playing as her.
Step 3: Ollie
Same as Sally’s act, get all the remaining collectibles, don’t kill anyone and take care of the 2 Ollie specific trophies: “Sugar Daddy” and “Lighten Up“. It’d also recommend that you get the 100 NPC kills as Ollie now, just make sure that you do this on a separate save slot as you do not want to mess up your progress towards “The Saint“.
We Happy Few Trophy Guide
We’ve Come To The End Of Our Time Unlock all other We Happy Few trophies |
Unlock this by collecting all other base game trophies. Congratulations on your new shiny platinum!
Arthur Haste-ings Take Phlash as Arthur |
Phlash is a drug that temporarily boosts your overall sprint speed (not your stamina, however). These pills are scattered throughout the whole of Welling Wells and you should run into one of them sooner or later. Alternatively, you can just buy it from a pharmacy. Simply take one when playing as Arthur and the trophy should pop once the Phlash has worn off.
A Bit Of The Old Ultraviolence Kill 100 NPCs in a single playthrough |
Simply kill 100 NPCs in a playthrough. Weapons like the lead pipe are found fairly often and they can dish out quite the beating before you have to get a new one. Just have at it and bash everything that moves. Friendly NPCs also count towards this trophy, not just Bobbies and Doctors.
Our Prudent Friend Listen to all the phone calls in the phoneboxes |
For this trophy you have to listen to all 12 unique phone calls from Mr. Kite aka “Our Prudent Friend”. Those phone boxes can only be found in the 3 garden districts: Barrow Holm, Lud’s Holm and Eel Pie Holm. You do not have to go to 12 different phone boxes in order to get this, you can simply use the same phone box again after 24 hours have passed in-game. So the best thing to do is to look for a house with a bed in, or a quick travel hatch relatively close to a phone box. Now simply rest for 24 hours and return to the phone box to listen to a new recorded call. The phone boxes are black and pretty easy to spot in the town of said garden districts. Furthermore, the ringing of the phone can be heard from quite a long distance away, making them almost unmissable during a regular story playthrough.
Shocking Biology Kill a guy named Ryan Andrews |
Ryan Andrews is a scientist in the Haworth Labs. He’s one of the 5 scientists patrolling the room with the 2 door switches. Just make sure to kill all of the scientists in here when you are playing through the story. If you are going for the no kill run right away, you can save before clearing out the room and then proceed to kill everyone in it. Just don’t forget to load your old savefile and run past the scientists without killing them.
That Kind of Game Retrieve the credentials from the club |
Story-related, cannot be missed.
The Slaughterer’s Apprentice Finish all of the butcher’s apprentice quests |
This quest is located in St. George’s Holm and it will be displayed on your map as a yellow marker with the caption “impatient person”. The quest will start out with you having to talk to some women complaining about a meat delivery boy who hasn’t been keeping up with his deliveries. After locating and saving the man, he will ask you to run the errands in his stead. Once this has been completed, you will be able to speak to the butcher himself. He will tell you to retrieve a “package” that is on the back of a cart which has broken down in the street. The easiest way to access this cart is by bribing the Bobbies guarding it. It’s recommended doing this at night as there will be fewer people around to interfere. The prompt for actually interacting with the cart can be very glitchy, so try to mess around with the cart like climbing on top of it, crouching on top of it/ next to it until you get the prompt.
After returning you will be rewarded with the “The Slaughter’s Apprentice” quest by the butcher. I won’t spoil any part of the quests as it is a pretty enjoyable one and all the instructions that you need will be given to you by the game. After completing this 15-20 minute long quest, you will be rewarded with this trophy. |

Mother of All Victories Complete “Band of Brothers” encounter |

Archipelagist Set foot on every island |

The Importance of Not Being Seen Finish Mystery House without being spotted once |
This is the last quest of the tree house quest line given to you by an NPC marked on the map called “Loony in the Tree House”. This will occur in Lud’s Holm. Make sure that you have enough Histoplasma mushrooms on you, as you have to consume one to even enter the Mystery House. Once in the house, you have to sneak past all the enemies and make it to the second floor and kill/ strangle the cult leader in his bedroom and collect all the “ephemeral linens” to complete the quest. Sometimes you’ll even get the trophy after you have been spotted a few times, however, it’s best to just save before attempting it. Simply reload the save if you fail and keep trying.
Cat Burglar In Thomasina House – Collect all fake cats |
The initial quest to start off this quest line can be found in Maidenholm and will be given to you after speaking to Lionel Castershire in “The Odds & Ends Shop”. You now have to complete the quest “Golden Oldies” by collecting 3 golden records in Lud’s Holm and returning them to him. Once this has been done, you will be given the quest “Thomasina House”. Head over to St George’s Holm and enter the Thomasina House. Your objective is to collect the marble cat statue hidden in the house, however for this trophy you need to find all 4 fake cat statues first. Here are the locations of the 5 fake statutes and the real one (all of these locations are based off of the front door):
You will get the trophy as soon you collect the 5th fake statues. |
Gimme Shelter Unlock all of Arthur’s shelters |
[GLITCHED]
There is a total of 9 fast travel hatches (shelters) in the game. The trophy can unlock anywhere between 4 and 9 hatches, or not at all. It is severely glitched and as of now there is no fix for this. I personally got it after unlocking my 4th shelter. Also, the map is always generated randomly, so there is no set location for all these shelters and a map screenshot would be useless to another player, as their map will look different. Here is a list of all the shelter locations:
I Got Better Contract and cure the plague |
You can encounter these plague-infected citizens in the garden districts or if you interact with a dead infected. In order to cure this you need to use a phenocyline jab. These can be found every now and then or bought in pharmacies. Later on, you can even craft them if you want to.
There is a point in the story where you enter the garden district for the first time and a Bobby will give you a phenocyline jab before leaving the city. You will be attacked by plague-infected wastrels as soon as you enter the garden district. Let them hit you until you are infected as well or kill them and try to loot their corpses to contract it. The trophy will unlock as soon as you are cured. |
The Saint Complete the entire game without directly murdering anyone |
For this trophy I’d recommend that you play on Easy and try to avoid fights in general by running away. When you have to engage in combat, make sure to use your fists or non-lethal weapons like the electric baton or cushioned club. Also try to stealth as much as possible and knockout people from behind. Always make sure to look at every enemy you brought down and see if it says deceased or unconscious. If you see an enemy that somehow died from one of your attacks, reload your latest manual save. It goes without saying that you should save manually and often as possible and maybe even create multiple save files in case you accidentally save after killing someone. Furthermore, you can check how many people you have killed in the stats page, so always make sure to check your stats before saving.
Baby You’re a Rich Man Gain £1000 from looting/bartering across playthroughs |
This will most likely come automatically during your first playthrough with Arthur. I really wouldn’t worry too much about it. Just keep looting all chests, cabinets, drawers etc and sell everything of value or simply stuff that you don’t need.
Don’t You Have Somewhere Else To Be? Survive 50 days |
Simply find a bed and sleep for 24 hours, 50 times. This will take about 10 minutes to unlock. However, please refer to “Remember, Remember” for this trophy.
Now I Can Die Happy Die while overdosing on Joy |
Simply die while you are overdosing on joy. In order to get you to overdose on joy, you have to consume 3-4 joy pills before the first pill wears off. Now you just have to die in any way possible.
Remember, Remember Find all collectibles |
[GLITCHED]
You have to find 88 collectibles in order to get this trophy. Unfortunately, one of the 88 “total” collectibles is glitched, but luckily the developers made a mistake and put in an additional collectible not listed in the main menu. There are 2 kinds of collectibles in this game. Actual collectibles in the form of a golden mask that you have to pick up and a video archive of Uncle Jack podcasts that you unlock by watching TV when walking around the cities. The best way to grind these episodes is by finding a TV close to a fast travel hatch and constantly going to sleep for 6 hours and back to the TV. This will reset the episode that is currently playing. Keep doing this until you have collected all Uncle Jack episodes. Here is a full list of all the collectibles:
Sally:
Ollie:
You Do Know Jack Collect all Uncle Jack Shows |
Please refer to “Remember, Remember” for this trophy.
Snug as a Bug on a Drug Take the Joy at the very beginning of the game |
Simply take the Joy by holding :t: . The game will now play the credits and then reset itself. Next time obviously refuse to take the Joy, otherwise you’ll never get to play the game.
Employee of the Month Read all newspaper articles as Arthur, and redact only the uncomfortable ones |
This will take place at the very start of the game and you have to redact or pass 3 articles. In order to get this trophy, you have to approve the first article, censor the second one and approve the last one.
Enjoy the View Correctly sabotage Clive Birtwhistle’s redactor work |
Once you are done with Arthur’s articles, you can get into Clive Birthwhistle’s office and use his redactor. In order to sabotage his work, you have to censor the acceptable articles and approve the uncomfortable ones. The correct choices are to approve the first article and to censor the second and third.
Downer Complete Arthur’s Intro |
Story-related, cannot be missed.
The Arthur Hastings Finish Arthur’s playthrough |
Story-related, cannot be missed.
Hot on her Heels Find all notes related to Prudence |
Prudence Holmes is a character that used to work in the same office as Arthur and their colleague Clive Birthwhistle. Similar to Arthur, Prudence stopped taking her Joy at some point and the past and has left the Parade District as well. On her journey she left behind 6 diaries that you have to collect in order to get this trophy. The 6 notes can be found in the following locations:
Resistance is Futile Talk to Johnny Bolton from the Secret Radio Room |
The first quest in this quest line is given to you if you stand in front of Col. Lawrence’s house in St. George’s Holm and is called “Old Soldiers”. The house will be marked on the map with the usual yellow symbol for a quest and you will hear two people loudly arguing if you get close to the house. You have to make your way through the back door and all the way up to the attic in order to find Col. Lawrence. After a quick dialogue with him, he’ll ask you to check up on his brother Edward and apologize for a past mistake in his sted. Upon arriving at Edward’s house, you’ll find his dead body buried underneath a bookshelf that collapsed on him. You now have to return to Col. Lawrence to tell him about the loss of his brother. Once this has been done, he will allow you to take everything he has in his footlocker right next to him, including his antique rifle.
Head over to Edward’s house once more with your newly acquired antique rifle and place it in the empty holder above the fireplace. This will cause a ladder to be lowered down inside the fireplace. Head up the ladder and step into the room to your right. In here you have to interact with the radio sitting on the desk, which will allow you to talk to Bolton. You trophy will pop as soon as you interact with the radio. |
Breaking Blackberry Complete Sally’s intro |
Story-related, cannot be missed.
I Love the Smell of Chloroform in the Morning Knock out 50 NPCs with the Atomizer |
For this you will have to use the “Sleeptite Atomizer”, not the “Hallucinex Atomizer”. A freshly crafted spleeptite atomizer will last for about 15 pumps and knock up to 2 people out, although it can be very tricky to do so. For this trophy you will have to craft 3-4 sleeptite atomizer and knock 15 NPCs out with them. Only Sally can actually craft these atomizers, not Arthur or Ollie.
The Wyrd Sisters Complete the Crones encounter |
Story-related, cannot be missed.
The Toxic Ex Complete speaking with Verloc at the Joy Factory |
Story-related, cannot be missed.
The Sally Boyle Finish Sally’s playthrough |
Story-related, cannot be missed.
Gotta Catch Them All! Catch 40 butterflies with Sally’s butterfly net |
You will unlock Sally’s butterfly net during the train station mission and you have to collect at least 10 butterflies to complete it. After that you will be able to catch butterflies in the garden districts/ park areas in the cities. The butterflies are slightly easier to spot at night in the garden districts, so it’s recommended that you wait for nightfall before you set out. You will be given a prompt to capture them when you are close enough.
Sugar Daddy Inject yourself with glucose 10 times |
The quests “Sweet Spot” and “What Lies Beneath” will teach you everything you need to know about getting yourself some glucose shots. Simply craft 10 of them out of honey and empty syringes and the trophy will be yours once you have used them all.
Lighten Up Use 25 lightning rods, playing as Ollie |
Lightning rods can only be crafted when you are playing as Ollie. I’d recommend you to craft 2-4 lightning rods and to throw them on the ground one after another. The ones that stand upright count towards the trophy, the ones lying on the ground horizontally don’t. In order to make those stand up you have to step on the base of the lightning rod. They have a small cool down period before they can be used again, that’s why I’d recommend using 2-3 at once so you don’t have to wait. Keep placing them and picking them up until you get the trophy.

Lino says
Is it possible to make “The Saint” and “A Bit Of The Old Ultraviolence” trophies in the same Playthroughs?
BodyChipper says
I played through Arthur’s story not killing anyone. I played through as Ollie killing everyone I saw. I assumed that I must have messed up The Saint bc I never got a trophy after beating Arthur’s story, but lo and behold, it popped after finishing Ollie’s story and I killed way over 100 NPC as Ollie. So yes, you do appear to be able to do both in one play through.
BodyChipper says
I never got Hot on Her Heels to pop. Verified on a save slot from Arthur right before the point of no return that I had all 3 of his notes. Pick up the final Ollie note in the broadcast tower and nothing happens…. Just ruined my platinum on this frustratingly broken game. I can see all 6 in my noted section, but no dice.
Aleks says
Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t there more missable trophies than just the 3 listed? Examples being Snug as a Bug on a Drug, Employee of the Month, and Enjoy the View. There’s no “missable” tags on those, but I missed them so I’ll have to start a new game. Not a big deal, but I’d hate to miss other ones not tagged later in the game.
Sean says
I tend to use your guides before any others but there are alot more missable than you’ve tagged. Especially the collecibles, for example if you miss the Arthur one in Thomisano House it gets blocked off forever.
Granted collectibles carry over but that is ALOT of gaming to get back there. Same with Enjoy The View, not tagged as missable, just starting a new playthrough to do it
