Introduction
Welcome to the Valkyrie Elysium Trophy Guide! Valkyrie Elysium is the first console game released in the Valkyrie series of JRPGs in over a decade, this time being an action RPG playing much closer to character action games like Devil May Cry over traditional JRPGs. You take on the role of the Valkyrie, traveling through Midgard freeing souls and trying to prevent Ragnarok from occurring.
Most of the trophy list consists of standard JRPG fare, requiring the completion of all side content and fully upgrading your character. You are required to do 2 playthroughs, as the difficulty trophies do not stack. There is also currently no NG+, so you are required to start both playthroughs from scratch (though you can skip the tutorial).
Step 1: Play the game on Normal, completing all Subquests as you progress
Your first playthrough should be on Normal difficulty. Since the difficulty trophies don’t stack it’s generally easier to start on Normal and use that as your first playthrough where you complete everything and also obtain all S Ranks. You don’t need to worry about doing any grinding for Gems to upgrade weapons or skills, just play all subquests as they become available and you should have more than enough resources to upgrade everything by the end of the game. It doesn’t matter which ending you do first, chapter 9 can be replayed to trigger the other endings so none of them are missable.
Step 2: Cleanup and SSS Weapon Proficiency
Once you’ve finished your normal playthrough completing all content, you may just have some cleanup of things like S Ranks and miscellaneous trophies. You should also then work on reaching SSS proficiency with all main game weapons, which requires some grinding.
Step 3: Play the game on Hard, triggering Ending 3
Finally, you should just have your Hard difficulty playthrough left. Since you completed everything on Normal already, you should know what to expect from all enemies and bosses, and can rush through the game without needing to upgrade everything or worry about all the side content with rewards you don’t need. You can also trigger Ending 3 (agree to Armand’s offer) thus ending Chapter 9 very early and skipping the final boss fights.
Information on Mid-Chapter Trophy Unlocks
Valkyrie Elysium is set up with a mission-based setup, where you select missions from the hub and play through them. In the longer story chapters you are able to save and leave the game, but because of how the game tracks progress most of the trophies in the game don’t actually unlock until you complete the chapter and return to the hub. The game warns you if you select to return to Valhalla from the mid-mission save points that it won’t save any of your progress, and it does mean this. The game won’t keep track of any of the items you picked up mid-chapter, it only saves them when you complete them.
This matters for trophies because everything that isn’t for some one-off actions (300 combo, 2 kills with 1 Lightning Bolt) won’t pop until you complete the current chapter, even if you complete the requirement early. Be aware of this and don’t worry when trophies like collecting one Hollow Blossom don’t pop mid-mission, they’ll be awarded at the end.

This trophy is awarded for defeating Odin, who is the final boss when you trigger Ending 1 of the game (See ![]() After defeating all 4 characters they will return to you, and you will now fight Odin. He is weak to Holy, so stick with using Kristoffer and Grave Edge to Elemental Crush him. This trophy is awarded for defeating Fenrir, who is the final boss when you trigger Ending 2 of the game (See ![]() Fenrir is still weak to Holy, so like Odin stick with using Kristoffer and Grave Edge. They behave mostly the same as the prior two fights, the main change is that now they use a bunch more area attacks and magic, so it’s a bit more hectic and hard to keep track of. You can use Nibelung Valesti against Fenrir, just be careful that they don’t jump away as soon as you try to cast it. A good way to use it is by triggering Elemental Crush and Immobilize, then using the attack right before Immobilize runs out. |

Unbound Possibilities Completed every ending |
![]() |
The trophy is awarded for completing all 4 endings of the game. The endings are all determined by talking to Armand during chapter 9, and whether you have collected all Verdant Blossoms through the chapters. The endings aren’t missable, as the Verdant Blossom reappears each time you play through Chapter 9 (meaning you aren’t locked out of doing Ending 1 if you do Ending 4 first and so on). You can choose to do them in any order you want, but the order listed below is the order recommended for narrative story reasons.
Ending 1 – For this ending, you need to go speak with Armand in Chapter 9, located in the northeast corner of the map in a side area. DO NOT pick up the final Verdant Blessing to trigger this ending (if you do pick it up this triggers Ending 4). After the scenes with Armand you are presented with a text choice, choose the first option and you will be returned to the chapter 9 area and can continue as normal. At the end of the chapter you will fight Odin as the very final boss (see :Silver: Twilight of the All-Father trophy for info about that fight). Ending 2 – For this ending, you just need to complete Chapter 9 without talking to Armand. Picking the Verdant Blosson isn’t needed and you should ignore Armand and proceed through the area. In this ending, you fight Fenrir a third time instead of fighting Odin (see Ending 3 – For this ending, you want to speak with Armand again in Chapter 9, but this time select the second option in the text choice (you can skip all cutscenes prior to this, they’re all the same each time). When you choose the second option the game ends immediately, and you also earn the trophy A Momentary Escape. This does still count as completing the Chapter/game, so for S Rank and Hard difficulty it’s recommended you do this ending to skip the majority of the Chapter. Ending 4 – For this ending, you need to collect all Verdant Blossoms in the game (including the one early in Chapter 9) then speak with Armand once again. Choose the first dialogue option as you did for Ending 1, then complete the game as normal. You can skip the scenes with Armand, but can now read the collection entries from the Verdant Blossoms if you wish. Once you enter the pit there will be different scenes and you’ll fight some enemies, then both Fenrir and Odin boss fights from Endings 1 and 2 occur back to back, followed by another fight unique to this ending. |

Savior of the Dead Completed all subquests |
![]() |
This trophy requires completing all 36 subquests in the game on one save. Subquests are short extra chapters you unlock by either interacting with whisps or orbs that appear during chapters or by speaking with your companions in Valhalla between chapters when they have the subquest icon showing on them on the map screen. None of the subquests are “hidden”, you can check the map during missions and make sure not to miss the pickups for them as you progress through each chapter. If you complete all subquests as soon as possible, you will earn this trophy after you complete the “Midgardian Studies (3)” subquest after Chapter 8.
The majority of the subquests are easy to complete. You will return to one of the story areas, run through and defeat more enemies, maybe pick up some items, then you’re done. You don’t need to worry about grabbing any new Blossoms in subquests, so can just run through them quickly. The only subquests that can really be difficult are the 4 Training Ground ones. See the end of the trophy description for details on these. The below list shows the order that the subquests are listed in-game in each region, so if you are missing one it is easier to compare against the list. The list includes the chapter the subquest is obtained in or whatever other unlock requirement they might have. Be’elzean Territory
Galdban Territory
Lucardan Territory
Romalian Territory
Training Ground
These 4 Training Ground subquests are overall the hardest in the game. This is because they are fights against your Einherjar, and you’re not allowed to use the others during the fight, just your normal attacks and Divine Arts. This can make them quite difficult, especially the fights against Eygon and Kristoffer due to how tanky they are, and they’ll constantly guard against your attacks and instantly counter you. If you want to try them right when they’re available make sure to SAVE YOUR GAME beforehand. These subquests can’t be exited out of when you start them if you are failing, you can only reload a prior save, so do that if you get stuck or feel you’re wasting too many resources. The much easier way to deal with them is to wait until after Chapter 8 when you obtain Nibelung Valesti I (or II after completing the final subquest). Using it on the Einherjar will nearly instantly defeat them, or do over half their health in damage, so you can just use it a second time to finish them off. This saves a lot of trouble trying to fight them legitimately and potentially using up a ton of consumables to get through the fights. |

The All-Father’s Right Hand Obtained “S” rank on every quest |
![]() |
This trophy is awarded for earning an S rank after completing EVERY chapter and subquest. Mission ranking serves mostly to show how well you did when completing each mission, but doesn’t offer any other sort of explicit rewards.
The way grading works is that you obtain the majority of your score from completion time; completing the mission faster results in a higher starting score (this seems to effectively start at 30,000 and decrease the longer you take, but you’re not going to ever get exactly 30,000). You then lose score based on how many items you used and how much total damage you took. You then gain bonus score based on how many times you did actions in the mission, and finally lose a large chunk of points if you died and restarted from a checkpoint. The score for S Ranks isn’t 100% specific, but it generally requires getting 30,000 to 31,000 points total (a handful of short subquests you can obtain S Rank with around 29,000 points). As long as you don’t die or take an extreme amount of time to complete missions then S Ranks are relatively easy to earn on Normal difficulty. The story chapters are a little harder due to length. Note that two of the bonus criteria are “Divine Arts Count’ and “Einherjar Summoned”. You don’t need to actually hit enemies with either of these for them to count towards this total, so you can actually use this to your advantage for extra score. The first time you interact with each save point in a chapter it replenishes your Soul and Arts Gauges, so before interacting with each save point you can spam your Divine Arts and Einherjar until you can’t use them anymore, then interact with the save point to get all of your Gauges back. |

Combo Master Raised the Combo Gauge to 300 Hits |
![]() |
Like traditional character action games, Valkyrie Elysium has a combo gauge that increases when you or your Einherjar deal damage to enemies. This is mostly just for fun, as reaching combo thresholds doesn’t specifically do anything or grant any rewards.
The combo gauge goes all the way to 999, so you’re basically being asked to reach 1/3 of the limit of it. At the start of the game, this may seem daunting (and effectively impossible) but becomes very manageable once you unlock your Einherjars to use in combat. All attacks from your Einherjars also count along with your own attacks, so once you have at least Eygon and Cypher available this becomes mostly about how quickly you are progressing through levels. The gauge that shows how long the combo is lasting takes a bit to count down when you max it out, so try to keep it near max by attacking enemies with elemental weakness. If you don’t obtain this while playing through earlier levels, you will almost certainly obtain this while replaying Chapter 9 for endings, and it is just a number of enemy waves all in a row while progressing through the area, with very little time in between to drop combo. |

Pitfall Purified a monster by pushing them into a hole or off a cliff |
![]() |
This trophy is awarded for defeating an enemy by knocking them off a ledge. You may earn this through a normal playthrough of the game, but if you need to earn it purposely a good spot to do it is midway through Chapter 3 (or in half of the subquests in Galdban Territory). Between the 4th and 5th savepoint you will eventually cross a bunch of wooden platforms over the water, and there are a set of archers on the platforms. Knock one of them off into the water and you will earn this trophy. You can do this fairly easily by locking onto one and Soul Chaining to them, then attacking them while still in the air. This typically lifts them up as you attack and pushes them backward, hopefully off of the ledge and into the water.
![]() |
Lightning Strike Defeated two monsters with a single Lightning Bolt |
![]() |
Lightning Bolt is one of the first Divine Arts you obtain in the game, and very helpful all the way through. It changes damage through multiple enemies in range, making it very useful whenever there are groups of enemies together. For this trophy, you specifically need to defeat 2 enemies with one usage of the attack. If you stick with using Lighting Bolt through the whole game (which you should) you will probably earn this without trying. If you need to specifically go for it, then the best way to do it is by equipping Lightning Bolt III, then summoning Eygon before casting, as having Eygon summoned and Lightning as your selected element increases the damage dealt by the attack. Repeat a low-level subquest and use it on a couple of enemies and they should be easily defeated.

Verdant Blossoms are marked on the map with green sparkly dots, so you can check the map to see where they all are and know how many are left per territory. Runes are extra items that can be equipped on your weapons, giving extra bonuses on top of the normal weapon stats. If you are completing all subquests as they unlock, you can earn this when completing Midgardian Studies (2) after Chapter 6.

Anvil Master Upgraded every weapon to its full potential |
![]() |
Upgrading weapons is done with Yellow Souls and all of the different tiers of Gems. Because of how Gems drops work, this is basically just story progression locked, because Gems are only available in specific Chapters/Territories. You do not need to worry about grinding for Gems to upgrade weapons, as you will obtain more than enough while completing the story and all subquests. If you have the Deluxe version of the game you DO NOT need to upgrade Svartaljr and Alscir for this trophy, you can use them if you want, but they aren’t required to be upgraded.
The below list is for reference on what Gem types are used for each upgrade level, along with the Chapters they are available in. Do note that higher level subquests do drop higher level Gems, even though they are in lower regions. You can check what Gems are dropped in the Chapters/Subquests by hitting

Weapons Master Reached SSS proficiency with every weapon |
![]() |
Weapon proficiency is an extra stat on each weapon that increases as you use that weapon more. The stat seemingly doesn’t do anything (there is no tutorial explaining its purpose and it doesn’t increase weapon damage), so it is basically just a measure of how much you have used each weapon. Unfortunately along with the stat seemingly being pointless, this is also the only thing in the game you have to specifically grind for. Proficiency starts at F and goes through 9 levels to reach SSS, requiring a total of 12,500 “points”. Proficiency is earned specifically from hitting enemies with your weapon attack, not just from killing them, so this means that it is detrimental to use Divine Arts or summon your Einherjar when trying to level proficiency.
Like the upgrade trophy, if you have the Deluxe version of the game you DO NOT have to reach SSS proficiency with Svartaljr and Alscir as they do not count, though this means it is actually detrimental to even use them at all. When specifically grinding for this trophy, you will want to turn off all auto-summon options for your Einherjar (Valkyrie menu > Auto-Summon bottom right, change to “-“). As mentioned before it is detrimental to do anything other than attack with your weapon, as proficiency is only increased from that and not from using Divine Arts or having your Einherjar defeat enemies with you. You can replay basically any missions you want, but two subquests that seem generally very good for grinding this are:
Both these subquests are in the first region (Be’elzean Territory) and have you fight through a number of fairly manageable enemy waves. An Imprisoned Soul is probably better overall, because even though it is a higher-level mission that means you have to hit enemies more, and in the final part you are in an arena for all the enemy waves, requiring less running around. If you don’t feel like playing those or want to do other missions you can, just try to avoid using Divine Arts or summoning your Einherjar to maximize your proficiency gain. |

The list includes the chapter the Divine Art is obtained in or what it is a completion reward from. Note that for some subquests related to speaking with the Einherjar in Valhalla, they might not appear immediately after completing the main story chapters due to story events (such as the characters all talking to each other). Completing another mission and returning to Valhalla should have the characters return to their normal spots and offer subquests if they are available.

Skill Master Learned all of Valkyrie’s skills |
![]() |
Like weapons, learning Valkyrie’s skills is done by spending the different tiers of Gems in the skill trees in the Valkyrie section of the pause menu. This means that this is also story progression locked because you can only earn higher level Gems in farther Chapters and subquests. You also DO NOT need to grind for Gems, as you will earn more than enough while completing the Chapters and Subquests to unlock everything.
The only difference to note about skills over weapons is that some of the skills require you to reach F and C proficiency levels on each weapon to be able to learn the skills. |

Mid-Tier God Completed the game on Normal difficulty |

This trophy is awarded for completing the game on Normal difficulty. This is the standard “middle” difficulty for the game and is where it is recommended you start for the first playthrough to complete the majority of the trophies.
Note that you cannot change difficulty once you start the game and there is no NG+, so it is recommended not to play below Normal difficulty because then you need to do an extra playthrough. |

High-Tier God Completed the game on Hard difficulty |
![]() |
This trophy is awarded for completing the game on Hard difficulty. This is the current highest difficulty for the game, and while not overly hard, it does offer increased difficulty and some changes over Normal difficulty. One of the most obvious changes over Normal is that your CP amount is capped at 430 instead of 500, meaning that if you learned all of Valkyrie’s skills you can’t actually equip them all, but if you are doing this as a second playthrough and rushing through most of it this shouldn’t matter, as you won’t unlock all skills anyway.

The proficiency grind is pretty big though. I am doing the An imprisoned soul (2) myself. It is less walking between fights, more enemies and gives around 1700 for a single run. Takes between 12-15 minutes.
I only use soul steal and soul burst lvl 3 attacks for they give more proficiency. And is easy to chain them back to back to get the souls.
Randy Pitchford says
Is the game really 40 hours minimum? I read it was less than 20 for 100%, and a second playthrough can be done faster without side stuff.
Gage says
I think most people will take at least 20 first time through to 100% everything in one playthrough unless they’re really rushing, then also have to factor in time to do SSS proficiency on that save if that doesn’t get changed in the future. Once I redo the 100% run on PS4 if that seems like way over I’d drop it to 30 – 50.
Terra says
Is there a reason that Nibelung Valesti causes no damage at all on Cypher when doing the training battle against him? It worked on Eygon and took off more than half his health. But against Cypher it does nothing.
Gage says
It might be a bug where it sometimes doesn’t damage the Einherjar. I had the same thing happen in the Odin fight where it didn’t damage Kristoffer that time, but then did when I played the training subquest.

Is savior of the dead bugged? Completed all 34 SUB/sidequests and didnt get the trophy. Anything i should know about? And yes Double and Triple checked if i Had done em all
Gage says
Apparently I counted my list wrong and there is actually 36 total, so you’re missing 2 somewhere. If you check against the lists in each area they’re listed in the same order they appear in-game, so should be able to easily spot which you hadn’t picked up.

@gage There is no such divine arts called elemental crush.
Gage says
That’s the term used in-game for when you stun enemies by attacking them with the correct magic type. I added some more to clarify that a bit.

For the SSS proficiency grind, I found that Ch 9 works pretty good as well. Not sure if it’s faster than the recommended subquest, but for me, it was much less repetitive. Just go around the main area and fight every spawn there is, especially the 2 side/arena-like areas with multiple waves. Then before you go through the narrow area leading to Fenrir/Nibelheim, just to talk to Armand and pick the “run away” ending. I got my Beylfer (sp?, big heavy spear) from A through SSS, and another thousand or so on a second weapon, in just one run. I also removed any +Dmg runes so enemies would take more hits to kill.
Just a friendly suggestion for those like me who go kinda stir-crazy running the same short sidequest repeatedly.

While the game is trash compared to Profiles, I decided to Plat it.
BUT, just completed my second playthrough on Normal (Hard`ed first), all trophies popped up, but… NOT registered on PlayStation 5. Replayed the last chapter – they’re not triggered again. It looks like this plat will be unavailable for me until some patch. Or it’s an issue on Sony’s side. The trophies that popped up (screenshots and videos of ’em are saved in the gallery), but not registered, are the following: Elysimania, Mid-Tier God, and The All-Father’s Right Hand.
Going to try to complete it with another ending tomorrow, maybe it’ll work. But not sure.

In your trophy list press Options > Sync with PSN. They just haven’t synced yet. You can confirm if you earned them by going offline (Network Settings > disconnected from internet).

Excellent guide, very detailed and well written. I started a chapter and then realized im not properly prepared, how can you exit out of a chapter without completing it? Im stuck on a boss encounter only now i can’t defeat the boss or leave, i don’t have enough hp items and wanted to get more and additional items but not sure how you exit out of a chapter without completing it as i didn’t encounter this issue until late game.

For leave a quest, go to Stone where you save/upgrade and you have ” Return to Valhalla “.
KegMack says
I think you can just go to a save crystal and select the option to return to Valhalla. I’ve read that you lose all progress (items, proficiency, etc) since you started that mission, however.
Yuri says
Anvil Master will not unlock even though I have upgraded every weapon to MAX. I did all the upgrades at the save point in Valhalla and assumed it would pop as soon as I fully upgraded my last weapon, but no such luck.

It happened to me, the trophy popped after I completed a mission
Vrinshael says
Not sure if it’s a bug or something, but I couldn’t skip the tutorial in my second playthrough
Xenial says
The subquest “Mother, Where Art Thou? ” seems to be great for grinding SSS proficiency. The waves are long, tough enemies non-stop, and VERY little movement from place to place.
Maxy says
Do I have to get all S ranks in the same difficulty play through for the trophy? Or could I do the training battles in normal and everything else in Hard?
joker says
Hey everyone since the game a lil bit older its really 40h platinum?? can anyone say the platinum time ? And how many hours takes
Jon says
Does anyone know if the dlc auto pops on the 5?
Ak2 says
Good you can cheese out the training grounds side missions… If the game forced you to fight like you are suppose to it would be a straight up 10/10 difficulty to S rank these missions (or perhaps even impossible to do)
