The Quarry is a game of many choices and consequences. It can be interesting to back up and restore your save game in order to test different choices and outcomes. This guide explains how to do just that.
The Quarry Save Game Directory: This PC > C: Drive > Users > Your Username > AppData > Local > TheQuarry > Saved
By default the AppData folder is hidden. To see it: in the top row click View > Options (top right) > View > Hidden Files and folders > Show hidden files, folders, and drives
For quicker access to this folder you can right-click “TheQuarry” folder > Send To > Desktop. This creates a desktop shortcut. Then you can double-click it from your desktop instead of clicking through all the folders each time.
To back up your save: Right click > copy the “Saved” Folder > Paste it into another folder somewhere else (e.g. make one called “The Quarry Saves” on your desktop and create a new sub-folder for each save, name it after the chapter or area so you can easily reference it later).
To restore your save: Exit the game > Copy the backup “Saved” Folder back into the default AppData > Local > TheQuarry > Saved.
Relaunch the game when done. Click continue in the Title Screen and you should continue where you were at the time of your save backup. You can keep as many backups in sub-folders as you would like!
Bonus: On PS4 & PS5 you can back up your saves by going to Console Settings > Saved Data Management > PS4/PS5 Saves > Copy to USB (PS4 only) / PS+ Cloud (PS4/PS5).
