Introduction
Welcome to the System Shock Remake Trophy Guide! System Shock is an Immersive Sim that inspired games like BioShock and Deus Ex, and this remake attempts to bring it to a modern standard. The game doesn’t have waypoints to objectives, as your tasks aren’t ever listed in the game, but rather diegetically through Audio Logs and emails you receive, so if you don’t pay attention it is easy to get lost on what to do.
In terms of trophies, you will need to obtain many types of collectibles throughout Citadel Station requiring you to be very thorough, as well as complete the game on 3/3/3/3 Difficulty, which has a time limit so it is not recommended that you do these in the same playthrough.
Step 1: Complete the game on any Difficulty, finding all Collectibles
Feel free to play on any difficulty, but it is recommended to have Combat and Mission set to Level 1 so that you can explore without the constant threat of respawning enemies or the looming threat of a 10 hour timer. Level 1 Mission also provides objective markers on the map to help indicate what you need to do if you get lost, though it won’t specifically state what they’re for.
Throughout this playthrough you will want to thoroughly search every floor for all the collectibles, as well as get all miscellaneous and combat trophies along the way. Following the System Shock Remake Collectibles Guide will cover all collectibles and all one-time trophies, but while playing make sure to keep these cumulative trophies in mind:
- Use every type of Dermal Patch
- Recharge 20 times at a Power Station
- Consume 30 Food and Drink items
- Salvage 100 Junk Items at Salvage Stations
- Buy 10 Ammo Items from Ammo Depots
- Solve 15 Circuit or Wire Panels without using a Logic Probe
- Hack 20 enemies which have been acquired by the Target ID Hardware
- Kill 10 enemies while under the effects of the Berserk Combat Booster
- Kill three or more enemies with a single explosive weapon
You will often find yourself without enough inventory space to collect new weapons or gear, but fortunately items never despawn anywhere throughout Citadel Station (except elevators, never place items in elevators). This means you can choose locations to store excess weapons or items. The best place to do this is in Maintenance, as this has the most connections to other floors.
There are three Points of No Return in the game, two of them only being minor sections while the third will be major:
- After jettisoning the Beta Grove, you will not be able to access Beta Grove again.
- When stepping into the boss room at the end of Security on Level 8, you will lose access to the rest of the game so far.
- When stepping into the Central Room on the Bridge after using the Isolinear Chipset, you will not be able to access the rest of the Bridge again.
This is why every non-story related trophy is effectively missable, so be mindful of these.
Step 2: Complete the game on 3/3/3/3 Difficulty
When starting the game, make sure to set Combat, Mission, Cyber and Puzzle to Level 3:
- Combat – There will be more enemies that appear, they will spawn more frequently as you travel around, and they will deal more damage.
- Mission – You will have a 10 hour timer upon starting the game and you must complete it in this time, and if you die without activating a Restoration Bay on that floor you won’t respawn (on lower Mission levels you can die on one floor and respawn on another floor if that Restoration Bay hasn’t been used).
- Cyber – If you die during Cyberspace Sequences (including the final one against SHODAN), you will need to reload instead of just being kicked out of Cyberspace, and there will be more enemies in Cyberspace.
- Puzzle – Circuit and Wire Panel puzzles will be harder and include more mechanics to solve.
The main factors in play here are the 10 hour timer and the constant enemies that will respawn if you backtrack too much. Because of this you will want to try and be efficient with your routing, going straight to objectives instead of exploring each floor. With an efficient route you can finish this with more than 5 hours to spare, so the time isn’t too big of an issue. Take full advantage of the ability to manual save whenever and save regularly, preferably across multiple save files in case you save at a bad section and need to go back.

Shields Up! Deploy Isotope X-22 and enable the Radiation Shields |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
Isotope X-22 can be found in an irradiated room in Gamma Quadrant of Research. In order to deploy it, head down to Reactor and place it in Radiation Shield Controls. |
Override Superposition Disable the Safety Override for the Mining Laser |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
West of the Reactor Core will be Safety Override, which will require a randomized code obtained from the first Cyberspace in Research. |
Thermal BOOMing Destroy the Mining Laser |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
After deploying Isotope X-22 and disabling the Safety Override, return to Research and enter the Central Hub, then press the button upstairs to destroy the Mining Laser. |
I’ll Be Back Defeat Edward Diego |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
You will face Edward Diego for the first time at the end of Executive. |
Jargon Cypher Replace Interface Demodulator and fix Subsystem Relay 428 |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
Before you can do this, you will need to enter Alpha, Beta and Delta Groves in Executive to disable the Safety Interlocks, then attempt to pull the switch in the room after fighting Edward Diego. Then head to Maintenance to find new areas accessible. Find a spare Interface Demodulator up the gravity elevator in Beta Maintenance, then head into Delta Maintenance to find the broken Interface Demodulator and replace it. |
Anti-Virus Jettison Beta Grove on the Executive level |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
After replacing the Interface Demodulator, return to the switch in the room after fighting Edward Diego and pull it again. Then head outside Beta Grove and enter the Control Room to jettison Beta Grove. |
No Reception Destroy the Antenna Relays on the Systems Engineering Level |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
Before you can do this, you will need 4 Z-44 Plastique from the Surveillance room in Storage. Then head to Systems Engineering and complete the Cyberspace to unlock the Antenna Relays in each quadrant. Head to each relay and blow them up. |
Can’t Turn Back Now Start the Reactor Self-Destruct Countdown |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
When you destroy the CPU Nodes on any of the first 6 floors (Medical to Executive), a screen will display a single randomized digit. Combining all 6 of these in order from Floor 1 – Floor 6 will give you the code for the Reactor. Head down to the Reactor enter the core, then pull the lever upstairs to lower the force shields. Take the gravity elevator and input the 6 digit code to start the Reactor Self-Destruct Countdown. Do note that this won’t actually start a timer for you so you are free to explore still, but strong enemies will spawn constantly until you go to Security. |
Edward DIEgo Kill Edward Diego |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
At the end of Security you will face Edward again, and this time you’ll kill him. Make sure to finish him off with the Laser Rapier for Finish Him! |
Hacker? You Hardly Know’er! Destroy the Cyber Core in each Cyberspace level |
Missable!
Throughout Citadel Station you will find Cyberspace Sequences, where you will fly around a ship and have to find the Cyber Core and destroy it. Some of these are story-related, but others are entirely optional and can therefore be skipped. |
The Key To Vector Sigma Use the Isolinear Chipset |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
On the Bridge you will fight a Cortex Reaver that has the Isolinear Chipset on its corpse. Before you can use it, you will need to hack the Circuit Panels around the Bridge to lower the 3 force doors leading to the computer room, then use it on the pillar to unlock the Central Room. |
It’s Over. Defeat SHODAN |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
After the onslaught and fight with the last Cortex Reaver, you will enter a final Cyberspace sequence, but this will play like the regular game with guns rather that flying around. In order to defeat SHODAN, you will need to shoot the crystals blocking the paths to the centre, then kill enemies until SHODAN power ups an orbital strike. You will then need to stand underneath the rings where the red paths lead to have the orbital strike hit it and power up that path (though make sure to step out before getting hit yourself). After powering up all the paths you can return to the middle and launch an orb at SHODAN. You will do this 3 times, then when you arrive at the final platform you can grab the final weapon and shoot the orbs until they turn blue to finish SHODAN and the game. |
All Patched Up Use every type of Dermal Patch |
Missable!
Dermal Patches are temporary buffs that you can apply, and there are six to be found:
System Shocked Recharge 20 times at a Power Station |
Missable!
Throughout Citadel Station you will find Power Station, which as the name implies will restore your energy to full. These will appear as blue lightning bolts on the map, and they will regenerate over time, so you can come back and reuse them as much as you like. These are very useful when combined with energy weapons like the Laser Rapier or Sparqbeam, as they effectively allow for unlimited ammo/uses. |
Look At You, Snacker Consume 30 Food and Drink items |
Missable!
All over the game there are cans of soft drink, bags of chips and snack bars that you can pick up. These will restore 10 Health when eaten. There are way more than enough of these throughout the game, and if needed there are plenty of vending machines that will sell a limited number of these for 1 Tri-Credit each. As long as you collect these when you find them and eat them you should get this without issue. |
Garbage Collection Salvage 100 Junk Items at Salvage Stations |
Missable!
Junk Items are all the extraneous items you find throughout Citadel Station that aren’t consumables, ammunition, weapons or collectibles. These will have certain Salvage and Scrap values, with the Salvage value being how many Tri-Credits you get from salvaging them, and the scrap value being how many pieces of scrap you get from vaporising them. Vaporising items is effectively half the value you would get from salvaging, but at the convenience of being able to do it on the spot. Most floors will have a Recycle Station where you can place Junk Items and Scrap to convert into Tri-Credits, your primary source of currency. You will need hundreds of Tri-Credits in order to buy all the Mod-Kits so make sure to constantly salvage and vaporise items that you come across, and try to keep valuable items for salvaging such as laptops, PDAs and broken weapons. |
En Garde! Acquire a Laser Rapier |
Missable!
The Laser Rapier is a powerful melee weapon that uses energy for every attack, and can be found both in Maintenance and Executive. This is one of the most powerful weapons you can find and is recommended to keep in your arsenal at all times. In Maintenance it can be found up the ladder in Gamma Maintenance, while in Executive it can be found in one of the bedrooms in Beta Quadrant. |
This Is My Boomstick! Discover all Firearms |
Missable!
There are 11 firearms to be found throughout the game. Most firearms will have multiple spawns throughout Citadel Station, and simply picking them up once is enough to count, you don’t need to use them. Melee weapons and grenades are not counted for this and are thus not needed, however the melee weapons have their own individual trophies for collecting them.
Not Even My Final Form Find and install every Weapon Modkit |
Missable!
Mod-Kit Stations are found throughout the levels, and these will sell an upgrade for a particular weapon for either 20 or 25 Tri-Credits. There are 16 to be found, costing a total of 390 Tri-Credits, so you will need to salvage a lot of items to get enough for them all. Simply buying it isn’t enough, you must apply them all to weapons for them to register. For this reason you must make sure you’ve used the first 15 before going to the Bridge, and make sure you have the LG-XX Plasma Rifle for the final upgrade.
Maxed Out Find the final version of all Hardware Attachments |
Missable!
Hardware Attachments are upgrades you can collect that offer you a variety of active and passive buffs, from energy shields and turbo boots, to simply being able to read media. There are 22 to be found, with most Hardware Attachments levelling up to V2 or V3. These will all have multiple spawns throughout Citadel Station. Passive Attachments will always be active and cost no energy to use, whereas Active Attachments have to be activated (by highlighting the respective attachment on the left of the screen on the Inventory or Map screen and pressing ) and use energy over time. The exceptions to this are the Turbo-Motion Boots and Target Identifier, which are always active but only use energy when you either sprint/glide, or hack enemies. Passive Attachments:
Active Attachments:
Load ’em Up! Purchase 10 ammunition items from Ammo Depots |
Missable!
Ammo Depots allow you to make one-time purchases for ammo, and are usually found in armories. There are plenty of Ammo Depots to purchase from, but some will be quite costly for ammo for better weapons, so it is best to buy the first 10 you find to get the cheapest ammo you can. |
Enjoy Your Purchase Purchase a grenade from a vending machine |
Missable!
In the Delta and Gamma Quadrant of Executive floor, there is a Vending Machine that has a grenade in stock. This is the only Vending Machine that has this available. Purchase it for 1 Tri-Credit, but make sure to run away as it will explode. |
Hacking Skillz Solve 15 Circuit or Wire Panels without using a Logic Probe |
Missable!
Circuit and Wire Panels are puzzles that you can complete to unlock doors. These can generally be bypassed by either opening them from the other side, or using a Logic Probe to instantly complete them. There are more than 20 puzzles throughout the game, but to be safe make sure to complete them all normally until this trophy pops. Logic Probes are best saved for the end of the game when the puzzles are harder anyway. Circuit Panels require you to connect two red squares by rotating circuits to have the yellow lights connect. Wire Panels require you to connect wires into ports and direct enough power to reach the highlighted section of the bar. The difficulty of these is dependent on the Puzzle Level you select when you start the game, and is best done on Puzzle Level 1 for the easiest time. These puzzles will always be random for every player, so there are no set solutions. |
Remote Control Hack 20 enemies which have been acquired by the Target ID Hardware |
Missable!
Once you get the Target Identifier V2 Hardware Attachment, you will be able to hack unaware enemies by pressing and then holding while looking at them. This will use a small amount of energy and temporarily scramble them. This can be done on any cyborg or robot enemy, as well as cameras. The easiest way to get this is to simply hack the first 20 cameras you find after getting the attachment. |
Goldberg’s Ricochet Kill an enemy by bouncing a shot from the Ion Rifle |
Missable!
The RW-45 Ion Pulse Rifle is first found in Alpha Grove. In order to bounce a shot with the Ion Rifle, you will need to be on the second power setting, High, which can be done by pressing once (the blue dot on the base of the weapon will be in the middle). Shots will now bounce off surfaces. Simply aim at the ground in front of an enemy and shoot until they die. |
Neon Annihilation Kill two or more enemies with a single Plasma Core |
Missable!
In order to use Plasma Cores, you will first need the LG-XX Plasma Rifle found in Security. Load a Plasma Core by pressing , then when you shoot a purple plasma orb will bounce around killing just about every enemy in a single hit. Use this in any room with multiple enemies and it should easily get you the kills, but beware as you can kill yourself this way. It is recommended that you save beforehand. |
Zapper Kill two or more enemies with a single Railgun Projectile |
Missable!
The MK-84 Accelerator Railgun is first found in Executive. The Railgun projectile will pierce through enemies, so simply line up 2 or more enemies and shoot them for this. You can use any type of enemy including cameras for this. |
TV Dinner Kill an enemy with an Overhead Monitor |
Missable!
This can only be done in Medical, as this is the only floor that Overhead Monitors will spawn. Lure an enemy underneath one and shoot the monitor to drop it on their head. |
Asunder The Influence Kill 10 enemies while under the effect of the Berserk Combat Booster |
Missable!
The Berserk Combat Booster is a Dermal Patch that will increase your melee damage and attack speed for 30 seconds. You do not need to get 10 kills during one usage of this, so just make sure to get 10 across the game for this. |
Somebody Set Up Us The Bomb Kill three or more enemies with a single explosive weapon |
Missable!
For this you will want to use either the Fragmentation Grenade on its own, or the EM-83 Grenade Launcher. Find any room with 3 or more enemies (there are plenty throughout the game), then group them up and kill them with a single grenade. This is best done on weaker enemies like mutants, serv-bots or the basic soldier cyborgs. |
Déjà Vu Defeat Edward Diego while en route to the Life Pods |
Missable!
After activating the Reactor Self-Destruct Sequence, head to the Flight Deck and go to Flight Bay 2/3 in the east. When you approach the Life Pods, Edward Diego will appear for another fight. This fight is entirely optional as you don’t need to return to the Life Pods at all, so make sure you do this before continuing to Security. |
Finish Him! Kill Edward Diego with the Laser Rapier |
Missable!
During the final fight with Edward Diego at the top of Security, you will need to finish him off with the Laser Rapier. This cannot be done during the other two fights, only the final fight. You don’t have to do all the damage with it, only the last hit matters. The easiest way to do this on any difficulty is to use a Berserk Combat Booster and Reflex Reaction Aid before the fight, then as soon as he spawns immediately hit him with an EMP Grenade. Pull out your Laser Rapier and you’ll be able to kill him from full health before he has a chance to recover. |
Get Ahead Defeat all of the Cortex Reavers on Citadel Station |
Missable!
There are 3 Cortex Reavers to be fought throughout the game, and they’re effectively mini-bosses. The second and third will be story-related, but the first is entirely optional so make sure you kill it in Flight Deck. |
Off The Grid Destroy all of SHODAN’s cameras and CPU Nodes |
Missable!
Every floor of Citadel Station will be full of cameras, as well as CPU Nodes in a specific room on each floor. Destroying these will reduce the Level Security for that floor, and is necessary for accessing certain areas. Both will appear on the map as orange icons when encountered, so it is easy to see where you’ve spotted one without destroying them. In total there are 149 Cameras and 27 CPU Nodes. You can easily check your progress by viewing the map for that level and looking at the Security Level in the top right of the map. Make sure every level is at 0% before you proceed to finish Security. |
The Inside Scoop Find all Audio Logs and Data Sticks on Citadel Station |
Missable!
Audio Logs and Data Sticks are collectibles that you pick up and will often provide information on your tasks and objectives. These can be viewed under the Media section of your menu. In total there are 119 Audio Logs and 13 Data Sticks to be found, all of which are found before the Point of No Return in Security. Audio Logs are blue round objects, while Data Sticks are small green USB sticks. Be cautious about using explosives around them as they can be displaced slightly. Upon completion, each level in Media should have the following count (this includes Emails which are story-related):
Look At You, Hacker Complete the game on any difficulty |
Story-related. Cannot be missed.
Finish the game on any combination of difficulty settings. |
Don’t Forget To Salt The Fries Complete the game on the highest difficulties |
In order to unlock this, you must complete the game with all four difficulty settings – Combat, Mission, Cyber and Puzzle – set to Level 3:
The main factors in play here are the 10 hour timer and the constant enemies that will respawn if you backtrack too much. Because of this you will want to try and be efficient with your routing, going straight to objectives instead of exploring each floor. With an efficient route you can finish this with more than 5 hours to spare, so the time isn’t too big of an issue. Take full advantage of the ability to manual save whenever and save regularly, preferably across multiple save files in case you save at a bad section and need to go back. Done well you can get to the Bridge with 40+ Medpatches and 10+ Med Kits, plus hundreds of bullets for 4-5 weapons, so there is plenty of leniency. Below are some tips for completing 3/3/3/3:
Supersleuth Discover a hidden door |
Missable!
Many floors will contain Hidden Doors, which when interacted with ( ) will open a secret room containing supplies. There are plenty to be found, but for this trophy you will only need a single one. |
The Longest Jump Jump across the big ramp in the Storage level |
Missable!
In the North section of Storage, there is a long ramp that crosses over a pit full of proximity mines. In order to cross this, you will first need Turbo-Motion Boots V1. Make a save before attempting in case you fail, then press and hold to sprint down the jump. If done correctly you will cross the gap. If you miss or it doesn’t pop, reload and try again. |
En Passant Solve the Chess Puzzle in Delta Grove |
Missable!
In the middle of Delta Grove, you will find a large chess board with a partially-completed game. The green pieces are yours, while the red pieces are the opponent’s. Head onto the platform behind the green pieces and interact with the button to elevate above it and get a better view of the board, where you will be able to move the pieces. In order to get this, you will need to win the game. If you are familiar and confident with your chess abilities you can try win it normally, but if you are unfamiliar then you can load up a Chess Solver online. Input your pieces as the white pieces, the opponent’s pieces as the black pieces, then use the Chess Solver to determine your best move. Mimic whatever move the Chess Solver does for white, then when the opponent moves, replicate that on the Chess Solver to see how to continue. Repeat this until you win the game, at which point a hidden room will open containing an Inventory Upgrade. |
Gut-Wrenching Find the hidden Wrench |
Missable!
In the northwest of the Maintenance Tunnels in Medical, you will be able to find a Monkey Wrench by a corpse. Simply pick it up for this trophy. |
In the Not Too Distant Future Find the hidden Audio Log |
Missable!
The hidden Audio Log is found in the northwest corner of Executive, in the theatre. In order to get it, you will need Turbo-Motion Boots V2 to be able to float and glide. Use your turbo boots to float up onto one of the lights on the side of theatre, then glide onto the top of the screen. Turn around and glide across to the gantry to find this Audio Log on the floor. |
Head Hunter Find Skully, the Nightdive skull, on every level |
Missable!
On every floor of Citadel Station there will be a hidden Skully, which are skulls in a diving mask with a tentacle around it. These are all found in hard to reach locations that will require Turbo-Motion Boots V2 to reach. Once you reach them, interact with the skull ( ) to make it glow red. |

Thank you for the trophy guide. I’m glad System Shock is finally about to release on PlayStation, but I have a feeling that I won’t enjoy this faithful remake as much as I want to, because it’s not going to have the conveniences of modern games, and especially since I’ll have to do a 2nd playthrough on the hardest difficulty within a time limit. However, I do enjoy first-person immersive sims (especially Deus Ex: Human Revolution), so I probably will end up buying this game soon, considering there aren’t many immersive sims on PS5.
FutureSequence says
Thanks for this guide. I have used many PP guides in my immersive sim playthrough and will browse back to this guide in order to play with the game once its on sale
Helios says
Hi!
Excellent guide 🙂
I’d like to ask if this game can be played with KB+M on PS5 (other Nightdive titles I’ve played do support them). Thank you.
Archavia says
I haven’t tested it, but if other Nightdive games can then I’d assume that’s probably the case here. If it is it’d be highly recommended as the controls on controller seem like an afterthought and make it a pain to play at times.
Helios says
I read the Digital Foundry analysis and they confirm that Keyboard and Mouse are indeed supported! O SHODAN, thank you!
Mark says
Currently it can’t. Despite what DF claim, the vast majority of mice are not recognised by the game.
Tom says
Does this game allow for an auto pop platinum from PS4 to PS5?
Archavia says
There doesn’t appear to be any way to transfer save file, so I assume not.
BT says
Do you plan to do a Video for the Collectible Guide? Considering the large number of collectibles, I think it will be useful to play/pause/ rewind the video guide.
Anonymous says
I also want an all collectibles YouTube video please.
Mark says
There’s honestly no way that this is a 5/10. The final boss is completely ridiculous on console.
Emanuele says
Im doing a blind run on 2/1/2/2 and its hard as hell. 30 hours so far and im on the last level. I almost got all collectibles on a blind run tho so im proud of that ?
