Go to Nova Galactic Research Station
You’ll have a new location marked on your map, the Nova Galactic Research Station on Luna. Head there when you’re ready to begin.
Investigate the research station
You’ll need to investigate the research station to find out more info. You can look around and pick up some extra lore and items along the way if you wish, but the main thing you need to interact with is the Nova Galactic Research computer located in the back of the larger room. Read both text files on the computer.
Play the recording on the roof
After finding the log on the computer, head back outside the station and climb up on the roof. Here there is a tall mast where you can interact with a speaker, playing this recording.
Go to NASA
You’ll now have the NASA Launch Tower location marked on Earth, head there.
Find a way inside
You’ll land outside a huge structure holding up a spaceship. To enter, you need to climb up the platforms to reach an elevator which is marked by the objective.
Along the way, there are some extra spots you can search for a few items, like the locked room you’ll pass immediately by. You will be required to interact with these a couple times inside, but these powered spots require you pick up the rectangular Emergency Power Cell and place it in the slot, which allows you to activate the nearby door switch.
When you reach the middle level cross the bridge over to the other side, then climb up the broken catwalks leading further up.
Enter NASA
When you reach the elevator, it is currently without power. Follow the cables on the ground to the nearby door that you can open with the NASA Access Code you received earlier. Inside there is another slot that you can place a Power Cell (along with two handly sitting on the floor). Do this to power the elevator, allowing you to enter the NASA Launch Facility.
Find information about NASA
Inside NASA, this next section is basically a bunch of walking through the facility. There are a number of extra lore bits you can interact with if you like along the way, but this is entirely optional and up to you whether you interact with it or explore around. In this first area, go over and interact with the marked computer and read the two text files to continue.
Find information about the martian sample
After receiving information from the text log, you’ll need to travel further into the facility. Follow the path through the large hall (there are a number of things you can interact with in here for background info about NASA and Earth) then pick up the log Judith – Personal Recording that is sitting in the far room.
Find information about the prototype grav drive
You’ll now need to continue further underground into the facility. Go down into the tunnel nearby and continue following the path. You’ll go through a long hallway, then enter a room with a bunch of collapsed cave blocking what looks like the normal exit. To continue, jump on the rocks on the left side of the room, which will allow you to enter a doorway with stairs leading down into the hallway behind the collapsed area.
In the hallway, there is an unpowered security door. To open it, continue a short distance down the hallway towards a yellow door you can open. Behind it there is a power switch you can activate it, which powers the switch that actually opens the door.
Continue through the tunnel until you reach another room with an unpowered security door. This one requires a power cell, which you can find two of on the opposite side of the room, with the slot to the right of the doorway farther along the wall.
Keep following the path until you enter a large shop area. Watch in here as there are a number of turrets and a fairly high-level security robot that will start attacking you. You can deal with them violently, or run to the left side of the room where the objective is, then through the hole on the right. In here there is a switch you need to pull which powers the door you need to go through, along with a computer you can use to deactivate the automated defenses.
Keep following the path and you will run down a long sloped shaft. At the bottom you can find the next computer you need to interact with.
Find information about the grav drive side effects
You’re in the final area you need to search now. There are a couple of ways to get where you need to go here, but the simplest way if you didn’t do any exploring is to first go through both doors immediately beside the computer to reach a large stairwell. Once you enter this area you will be in zero gravity, so note the change in controls. Go down one stairwell to where the walkway breaks and then follow the path into the center room with the large circular structure. Go to the bottom of the area here where there is a red door with a switch beside it and go through that.
Go forward and through the door on the right, which leads to a large square shaft.
In that shaft go up one floor, then through the door on the right which leads to the objective, your final computer to interact with.
Release the Artifact
You now need to release the Artifact, which is located in the circular structure you passed earlier. Interact with the big red button on the table to release the Artifact and return the area to normal gravity, and make sure to pick up the Maintenance Key from the table as well.
Take the Artifact
You now need to make your way back to the middle room to reach the Artifact, so need to take a different route with the gravity back on. Go back the way you entered into the hallway, where you can now use the Maintenance Key to open the door leading into the large stairwell.
Drop to the bottom level where you can find the area you came through the red door in the central room. Make your way up the steps to the central structure and take the Artifact.
Leave NASA
With the Artifact in hand, you now need to make your way out of the NASA complex. Here it is recommended you follow the scanner path up the stairs in the central room and then back the way you came into the large sloped shaft. You’ll have to backtrack through a fair chunk of the complex now while fighting Starborn, so be prepared. After heading up the shaft you’ll take a slightly different route, leading into a room with another unpowered door. Follow the cables on the ground to locate the slot where you place an Emergency Power Cell. If you hadn’t been picking up extras, you should be able to find one sitting on the floor just around the corner from the slot.
Keep following the path back through the hallways. When you reach a long hallway with a red door at the end, note that this is a cuttable wall you can go through. Pull out your Cutter and cut the 4 pins on the side, which drops the wall to create a path leading into another newer room.
In this large room, a number more Starborn will appear. You can fight them or ignore them, but to progress you need to find the stairs leading up and out of the side of the room, near where this area’s Science Crate chest is.
Keep following the path ahead and you’ll end up on the back end of the room you came in from originally. Take the elevator back out of the facility to the surface.
Talk to the Emissary
Head to ground level where you can find the Hunter and the Emissary waiting nearby. Speak to them, and you will have a major choice that affects what happens in the second last mission of the game.
They both offer to work with you to reach Unity, and you have the choice between the two of them or neither of them. If you pick one of them, you will fight the other in the final location, with the help of the one you picked. If you pick neither, you will fight both of them which is the harder option overall, so choose wisely. The conversation ends once you have made this choice.
Complete “Final Glimpses”
If you haven’t already completed Final Glimpses (and along with it Unearthed) you’ll need to do so now to complete this mission. If you have already, the mission will end after you finish your conversation with the Hunter and the Emissary outside NASA.
This finishes Unearthed in Starfield.
