The Old Neighborhood is the 2nd main mission in Starfield. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Old Neighborhood main quest.

Talk to Sarah
When you’re ready to start the next mission, speak with Sarah who is waiting by the artifact pedestal. When you agree to head out she’ll join your party permanently until you finish this first story mission, so don’t talk to her yet if you want to do stuff by yourself first.
While you’re in the Lodge, you should also make sure to pick up the Constellation Guide 01 magazine that’s sitting on the railing if you haven’t already. Magazines can be found throughout the game world, and give permanent buffs when picked up.
Talk to Sarah’s contact
After speaking with her, head out of the Lodge and follow the objective nearby and speak with Commander John Tuala. During this conversation, he’ll offer to let you join the UC Vanguard, which you can do now or later.
Ask about Moara in Cydonia
With your new information, you’ll need to head to the city of Cydonia on Mars, located in the Sol system. Locate this on the Starmap (or use the option in the mission log) and jump to Sol.
When you arrive again, open the Starmap and located Cydonia on the planet, and land there.
Follow the objective and enter the mining colony, then hang a right inside to the Broken Spear bar where you can speak with the contact Jack.
Jack will give you some info on where Moara went, but he wants money to “clear his tab” first. This gives you the intro to Companion-specific dialogue options, where you can have a Companion speak during dialogue for certain outcomes. In this case, you can have Sarah call him out on lying to drop the price he asks for from 2500 Credits to 1000.
If you also ask him about work he’ll point you towards the Mission Board. These boards can be found in settlements and offer sets of repeatable missions you can undertake for extra Credits and XP.
Go to Venus
With info on his whereabouts, you’ll now need to head to Venus, also located in the Sol system. Travel there to continue.
Talk to Sarah
When you arrive in the area, Sarah will point out some hostile ships nearby that are unaware to your presence. At the current time you’re likely entirely unprepared for an enemy that strong, so you should do as she recommends and avoid them.
Examine the satellite
Set all of your ship systems to level 0, except Engines which you can have at 2. Then carefully approach the satellite and interact with it.
Go to Nova Galactic Staryard
With info on his whereabouts obtained, you now need to set course for the Nova Galatic Staryard, which is found orbiting Earth’s moon.
Talk to Sarah
When you arrive in the area Sarah will explain a bit about the Staryard.
Dock with Nova Galactic Staryard
After she is done speaking you can head toward it. Interact to select the doc point, then when you are close enough you can hold / R to automatically attach to the station.
Find any clues about Moara
Inside the station, you’ll need to progress toward the objective to find the clue about Moara’s whereabouts. This station is much larger than the base in the prior mission, so explore as much or as little as you want. There are more enemies as well, so watch out while you are progressing. There are a couple of points to call out with good rewards. The first is once you reach a large room with a split in the path where Spacers and Eciptics are shooting at each other (there is a “Conference Room” label above the door in the middle of the room). Going left leads toward the objective, whereas going right leads past a high-level locked door into a dead end. At the end of the area you can find the “Search and Rescue” key on a bench in the second last room, allowing you inside the room with some decent loot.
The next will be once you are very near the objective, you enter a room with a staircase leading to the upper floor. Follow the path after the staircase into a room with windows overlooking the location of the objective (the large white structure in the middle room). On the table near one of the windows, you can find another magazine, Nova Galactic Manual 02.
After picking up that, you can continue out into the room with the objective. Deal with all the enemies, then go inside the white structure where you can find Vanguard Moara’s Slate on a bench.
Go to Neptune
After hearing the log, your next objective will be to head back to Neptune. On your way out of the station, follow the objective toward the back of the room the objective was in, and you can find a path leading past a large Industrial Crate with some loot, then out a door you can activate that leads right back to the entrance and your ship.
Back in space, set course for Neptune, still located in the Sol system.
Approach the ship
After you arrive, you should be able to spot Moara’s ship nearby. Start making your way toward it.
Evade fire
As you approach the ship will start attacking, dodge fire while dialogue occurs.
Damage Moara’s ship
Moara’s ship has been commandeered, and you need to damage it to force it to stop moving. You can do this by carefully taking down its shields with your laser weapon, then shooting it just with your ballistic weapon. Don’t shoot missiles when trying to do this to avoid dealing too much damage.
Dock with Moara’s ship
Once the ship has been stopped, get close enough and you can dock to it like you did the station.
Clear Moara’s ship of hostiles
Once you enter the ship there will be a number more hostiles to clear out. Deal with them then make sure to loot the key from the final enemy which will allow you to enter the cockpit. You can also feel free to loot anything else in the ship while you’re here, Moara doesn’t seem to care.
Talk to Moara
Inside the cockpit, speak with Moara to learn about what happened.
Take the artifact
After you’re finished speaking with Moara, move to the front right of the cockpit where you can pick up the artifact.
Return to the Lodge
Head back to your ship and undock, then make your way to the Lodge on Jemison. You can travel directly to it now that it’s been discovered.
Add the artifact
At the Lodge, interact with the pedestal again to add the next artifact piece.
Wait for Sarah
Wait for Sarah to speak with Noel about the artifact pieces.
Talk to Sarah
Speak with Sarah once more to complete the mission.
This finishes The Old Neighborhood in Starfield.
