In Starfield you can sleep in beds to advance time. This feature is useful for multiple reasons: to change the daytime so you can explore at day or night, to restock the inventories and money of merchants if you sleep 48 hours straight, and to speed up the amount of mined resources from your outposts.
Here’s where to find beds and sleep to advance time:
- There are always beds on your own spaceships. They are usually on the middle or lower deck, but it varies depending on the ship layout. Simply interact with the bed and choose for how long to sleep.
- Later in the story you get your own room in The Lodge (the base of operations of The Constellation Faction). One of the Constellation Members will give you a tour and show it to you after you advance the story enough. It will be upstairs, take the left hallway to the end.
Sleeping is incredibly useful if you have a lot of items to sell but merchants run out of money. Just sleep 2 times for 24 hours (48 hours total) and they will have their full money back. Then you can sell them another batch of items. Their entire inventory of Resources also restocks, so if you need to buy lots of materials for crafting you can use the same trick.
