Starfield has 5 Factions with a total of 40 Faction Missions. You can be a member of all Factions simultaneously within a single playthrough, they don’t cancel out each other. Completing all Faction Questlines is mandatory to get all mission-specific achievements. The Constellation offer the main quests. The remaining 4 Factions each offer a long questline that unlocks 3 achievements (one for joining, one for their mid-questline mission, one for finishing their questline). It takes around 5 Hours per questline, or 20-25 hours total for all 4 questlines (except Constellation). The Constellations questline takes longer because it involves the whole main story plat, which takes another 25 hours. So for everything combined it’s around 50 hours (25h Constellation story, 25h for other 4 Factions).
If you finish the main story ending it will automatically start New Game+ and reset all faction progress. Hence they are technically missable. But their quests are all still available when reaching the ending. Just make a Manual Save backup when you reach the game ending (Main Mission: One Giant Leap). Then you can continue to finish the ending and reload the save afterward to go back. If you forgot to make a manual save you can load the oldest Autosave immediately after starting New Game+. The game doesn’t give a Point of No Return warning, it starts NG+ automatically and wipes all progress.
All objectives are marked when you track the missions from the mission log. If you ever get lost open the Scanner (LB / F) to see a line on the ground guiding you to the next objective. Because of this all quests are super easy and don’t need step-by-step walkthroughs. Below is a list of all quests with their unlock timing. Each faction quest automatically unlocks the next, there are no complicated hidden requirements. What decisions and dialogues you pick during don’t matter. You always get the same next mission regardless of choices and will always earn all mission-specific achievements. Your choices only change some dialogues, nothing important is affected.
For Main Missions refer to Starfield Main Walkthrough.
The Constellation
They are your main story faction, they don’t give Faction Missions, only Main Missions. Refer to Starfield Main Walkthrough.
