Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has 10 Symbiote Nest locations. These collectibles are needed for 100% District completion and unlock the trophy Exterminator. The first 4 become available after Main Quest 26: Trouble With Harry, the remaining 6 unlock after Main Quest 28: Set Things Right. These are marked on the map in defogged areas, or when the entire district is defogged at the second district level.
They require you to plant a Sonic Burst on the Symbiote Nest. They look like a glowing red sacks on the floor with spikes sticking out. Upon planting the Sonic Burst, waves of enemies will spawn. There will be a countdown timer on the left and the Sonic Burst health at the top of the screen. You must defend the Sonic Burst from enemies until the timer hits zero, then it will blow up the nest. None of them are missable, they can still be found after the story in free-roam.

There’s currently a positive glitch for the symbiote nests (still working as of 1.001.003, the Cuban Flag patch) where if you switch from a suit with black webbing (Classic Black Suit works for this) to a suit with regular webbing or vice versa while the timer for the sonic bursts is running, the timer will just drop to 0 immediately, allowing you to complete the mission without having to bother with the actual defense part at all.
