Wood Side Apartments is the 2nd area in Silent Hill 2 Remake. This 100% walkthrough will guide you to all collectibles in chronological order. Everything that’s needed for trophies, achievements and 100% completion is included: Memos, Strange Photos, Glimpses from the Past, Key Items, Puzzle Solutions, Trophies & Achievements.
All Collectibles must be found in a single playthrough. Everything is missable! After leaving an area you can’t go back. There’s no Chapter Select and no Free-Roam after the story. Collectibles don’t carry over into New Game Plus either. The game has 10 manual save slots, make use of this by saving in different slots regularly. If you missed anything you can reload a previous save to replay from there.
The Memos and Strange Photos you found can be viewed in the Inventory Menu by pressing the Touchpad. Glimpses from the Past can’t be tracked anywhere. This guide is intended for the “Light” or “Standard” Puzzle Difficulty, the solutions for both difficulties will be mentioned. Combat difficulty does not matter, all Trophies can be done on “Light” difficulty.
Collectibles Overview:
Chapter 2: Wood Side Apartments
Map: Wood Side Apartments Map
Immediately after entering Wood Side Apartments on the wall in front of you, at the reception.
Memo #19 (Wood Side Apt.): Administration Note
From the reception desk, go left to find this memo underneath the stairs in a locker.
Equipment: Flashlight
Head upstairs to the second floor and enter Apartment 202 where the light is coming from. Grab this from the mannequin.
Key Item: Chute Courtyard Key
Inside the drawer directly behind the mannequin.
Key Item: 2F Hallway Key
Head downstairs and use the Chute Courtyard Key in the corridor to the right of the reception that leads north. This leads to a courtyard, pull the trolley and use it to climb the window. Then follow the dark corridor all the way to the right, at the end you can interact with a key behind some bars, this triggers a cutscene where the key gets knocked back. Backtrack to the reception where you first entered Wood Side Apartments. To the right of the reception a new corridor door has opened, go through and follow the corridor to the end to find this key.
Key Item: Golden Apple Handle
Inside Apartment 108, there is a wardrobe with golden handles. Interact with it and this will fall onto the ground. Pick it up.
Strange Photo #3: “Valentine’s Day’’
Head back to reception and the gate leading west will now be open. Enter Apartment 102 and this photo will be on a trolley by the television.
Glimpse of the Past #6
Head upstairs and unlock the door with the 2F Hallway Key. Enter Apartment 213 and interact with the scratched-up wall in the bedroom.

Strange Photo #4: “Career’s humble beginnings’’
Go through Apartment 212 and enter Apartment 210 via the balcony. Enter the living room and this photo will be sitting on the last window still.
Trophy: Let’s NOT Party!
Enter Apartment 207 and you’ll see some balloons on the wall saying “Welcome Home”. Shoot all 11 balloons to get this trophy. As this will use a lot of ammo, it is recommended that you save first – you can quickly get back to the save room in reception by opening a shortcut on the fire escape stairs just before Apartment 207 by pulling a lever. You can find enough ammo throughout the 2nd floor Apartments: 7 ammo in Apartment 217 + 2 ammo in Apartment 210 + 3 ammo in Apartment 207 + 1 ammo in Apartment 208 + 3 ammo in Apartment 205 + 3 ammo in Reception save room (Light combat difficulty). Even more ammo is found on the 3rd floor, you can still backtrack here after going to 3rd floor.

Now return to floor 1F and go outside to the central courtyard area, the coin will be on the ground, in front of the chute where a note hangs on the wall. It will have a red “!” icon on the map to mark the spot.
Key Item: Coin [Snake]
Go to Apartment 116, you will get a cutscene, then climb out the window to another courtyard with an empty pool. The coin is inside the baby stroller inside the pool.

Trophy: Otherworldly
Go through the red door to reach the Otherworld. Automatic story-related trophy.
Next Area: Blue Creek Apartments
Mathew says
Once you enter apartment 201 (where the red door is) and interact with the handkerchief, that’s the actual point of no return. Once you do so you cannot exit the apartment as the door will be locked, whether you interact with the red door or not
Archavia says
Thanks for confirming this, I have updated it accordingly.
Jay says
The coin puzzle seems to be randomized or possible changes depending on difficulty. A video that I watched had a completely different solution; as was also the case on my own playthrough which differed from the video I watched and the info here.
Ray says
I found the same too – I was playing on Standard difficulty.
The puzzle was exactly the same as described in this guide besides the last step – I had to put the man in the top slot, not the snake
Archavia says
Turns out the final step can be any of the three coins, as long as you put a coin in the top slot it will unlock the drawer.
Volucer says
It turns out that the coin you use in the top spot gives you points towards the different base endings:
Snake – Leave
Man – In Water
Woman – Maria
Mark says
Just a heads up about Let’s NOT Party; if you deflate any of the balloons with a melee attack before shooting them, you will not be able to get the trophy.
