Introduction
Welcome to the SILENT HILL 2 PS5 Remake (2024) Trophy Guide! A remake of a PS2 classic, Silent Hill 2 Remake offers new endings, new collectibles and modernized gameplay. In order to get Platinum, you will need to collect all three types of Collectibles (Memos, Photos, Glimpses), unlock the 6 original Endings, and complete the game under various conditions (within 10 hours, not using radio, not using guns). Fortunately, the endings get saved to your overall ‘profile save’ rather than specific ‘manual save’ slots, because of this you can get multiple endings in one playthrough by reloading manual saves. This makes it possible to get all trophies in only 2 playthroughs. A New Game+ playthrough is needed to trigger some of the endings. Unlike the PS3 version there is no 10-star requirement so the Platinum is much easier and faster overall.
Step 1: 100% Collectible Playthrough & Regular Endings
On the first playthrough go for all collectibles and combat/miscellaneous trophies. Follow Silent Hill 2 Remake Collectible Guide to get everything.
There are no difficulty-related trophies, so feel free to play on ‘Light’ (Easy) Combat/Puzzle difficulty. Using Accessibility Settings is fine too.
For Radio Silence you must beat the game without using the radio. The radio is unlocked automatically during a cutscene when fighting the first enemy. Open the inventory and turn off the radio immediately. If you miss it during this playthrough you can still do it in New Game+.
On the first playthrough you can only get the three regular endings – “Leave”, “In Water”, “Maria” – by doing certain actions throughout the playthrough to influence the ending. Fortunately you can manipulate these towards the end of the game, and with a prepared manual save at the final save location before the second last boss (you will know it is the right spot as it has 9 red save squares instead of the usual one that all other save locations have), you can reload after completing the game to get the other endings.
It is best to work towards the Maria Ending while playing, as this can’t be as easily manipulated at the end of the game while the other two can. The important actions for working towards the Maria Ending are:
- When Maria first joins you in South Vale (West), have as many optional conversations with her as possible – such as by trying to enter the Silent Hill Historical Society, talking to her when she’s holding the dress upstairs in Jack’s Inn and when she’s standing in front of Baldwin Mansion.
- When in Brookhaven Hospital and the Labyrinth, check in on Maria regularly as you progress (you can get two cutscenes with Maria in the Hospital, one after collecting your first bracelet and another after collecting the Rooftop Key).
- When doing the Mirror Puzzle in Lakeview Hotel, place the Ripe Apple on the plate instead of the Rotten Apple.
- When you get the Scarlet Egg and Rust-Colored Egg at the end of the game, go through the door that you place the Scarlet Egg into.
- Do not let Maria take too much damage when she is with you.
- Do not inspect Photo of Mary, Mary’s Letter or Angela’s Knife in your inventory.
- Do not listen to the full conversation in the long hallway before the final boss fight.
Following these steps, you should get Maria Ending upon completing the game. Afterwards you can reload your manual save for Leave and In Water.
For Leave Ending, you should:
- Inspect the Photo of Mary and Mary’s Letter in your inventory multiple times
- Listen to the full conversation in the long hallway before the final boss fight
For In Water Ending, you should:
- Inspect Angela’s Knife in your inventory multiple times
- During the second last boss fight, stay on low health and keep this until the final boss
- Go through the door that you place the Rust-Colored Egg into
- Listen to the full conversation in the long hallway before the final boss fight
If you don’t get any of these endings doing this, don’t worry too much as you can try for them again during your New Game+ playthrough. Even if you only did one Ending on the first playthrough you can still get the other five in New Game+.
Step 2: New Game+ with no Radio/Guns & NG+ Endings
Once you complete the game for the first time, you will have the option to start again in New Game+. While this isn’t NG+ in the traditional sense as it doesn’t carry any items over, it does contain exclusive items that can only be found on New Game+. These are required for the various NG+ Endings: Rebirth, Dog, UFO (and the two new Remake endings, but these aren’t required for trophies). During this playthrough you will want to collect these items and complete several steps required for the endings, as well as work towards the trophies for completing the game in under 10 hours, without using the radio and without getting kills with guns. You will be able to use the Chainsaw in NG+ which will make the no gun trophy very easy. Make sure to turn off the radio in your inventory as soon as you get it in the room with the first enemy encounter if you haven’t done so during the first playthrough.
Once at Lakeview Hotel, you can make a manual save before entering Room 312 and before collecting the last item for Rebirth Ending. This will allow you to get the UFO and Dog Ending quickly, then get Rebirth Ending by collecting the last item. If you missed any of the three regular endings on the first playthrough, you can ignore the last Rebirth Ending item and continue to get these endings.
See Endings Guide & New Game+ Collectibles. If you need help redoing the puzzles see Puzzle Solutions.
Step 3 (Optional): Clean Up
If you missed anything during the previous playthroughs, you may need an extra playthrough for clean up.

Lumberjack Find the chainsaw. |
||
Missable!
Location: Silent Hill Ranch (New Game+ Only) After completing the game, you will unlock New Game+. Just after the graveyard at the beginning of the game, you will hear the sound of a chainsaw as you approach Silent Hill Ranch. The chainsaw will be sitting in a stack of logs opposite the ranch sign. This is a very powerful melee weapon that will kill all monsters in a single hit, and bosses in a handful of hits. |
||
Merciless Finish off 50 enemies with a stomp attack. |
||
Glitched.
Sometimes when attacking an enemy on the ground with , James will stomp on them rather than swinging his Wooden Plank/Steel Pipe. It’s a bit random what he does, but as long as you try to finish enemies off while on the ground, you should get enough stomp attack kills. This cannot be done with the Chainsaw equipped, so if you need these on New Game+, make sure to unequip the Chainsaw. The best enemies to do this on are the little bugs, as they all die in one hit and James tends to stomp these roughly one third of the time. For any other enemies, shoot them in the knee first with the handgun, then do one melee attack to knock them on the ground, then move towards the head and press . Unfortunately the tracking for this trophy is very inconsistent as stomp kills won’t always increase the tracker. The only thing you can do is keep stomping until it unlocks. These kills track across all playthroughs, so you do not need to do them in a single run. |
||
No Big Deal Kill 75 enemies with ranged weapons. |
||
Ranged weapons include the Handgun, Shotgun and Rifle. There are hundreds of enemies in a single playthrough, so it is likely you’ll get this naturally if you are killing most enemies and using your guns. It is best to try get this during your first playthrough when playing normally, as you won’t be able to do this when going for the No Gun trophy.
These kills track across all playthroughs, so you do not need to do them in a single run. |
||
Blunt Force Trauma Kill 75 enemies with melee weapons. |
||
Melee weapons include the Wooden Plank, Steel Pipe and Chainsaw (New Game+ only). There are hundreds of enemies in a single playthrough, so it is likely you’ll get this naturally if you are killing most enemies using melee. You will have to do a playthrough without using guns anyway so melee kills will be your only option on that playthrough.
These kills track across all playthroughs, so you do not need to do them in a single run. |
||
You Never Know… Try to open locked doors 50 times. |
||
Throughout the game there are many buildings with locked doors. Walk against these doors and it will count for the trophy. This trophy should come naturally during your playthrough so don’t even worry about it. You can already unlock it in the first area of the game “South Vale East Side”. There are lots of shops and other buildings with locked doors.
This tracks across all playthroughs, so you do not need to do it in a single run. |
||
Shattered Destroy 50 windows. |
||
First you need the Wooden Plank, it’s an automatic story-related item, you get it during a cutscene when you fight the first enemy in the game. Then you can press to smash glass windows. These can be windows of any shops or cars you see. Smash all windows you come across. There are more than enough windows in the game, you can already find over 50 windows in the first area of the game “South Vale East Side”. You will regularly be smashing windows to climb into rooms or get supplies from cars, so you will likely get this naturally.
This track across all playthroughs, so you do not need to do it in a single run. |
||
Making Peace Reach the “Leave” ending. |
||
Missable!
The Leave ending is one of the three regular endings that can achieved on New Game as well as New Game+. |
||
Vicious Circle Reach the “Maria” ending. |
||
Missable!
The Maria ending is one of the three regular endings that can achieved on New Game as well as New Game+. |
||
Only Way Out Reach the “In Water” ending. |
||
Missable!
The In Water ending is one of the three regular endings that can achieved on New Game as well as New Game+. |
||
Defy Even Death Reach the “Rebirth” ending. |
||
Missable!
The Rebirth ending is one of the NG+ endings that can only be achieved on New Game+. You will need to find four items and then complete the game normally to unlock it. |
||
The Goodest Boi Reach the “Dog” ending. |
||
Missable!
The Dog ending is one of the NG+ endings that can only be achieved on New Game+. You will need to find two items to create the Dog Key and then unlock the Observation Room door in Lakeview Hotel to unlock it. |
||
Tinfoil Hat Reach the “UFO” ending. |
||
Missable!
The UFO ending is one of the NG+ endings that can only be achieved on New Game+. You will need to find the Blue Gem and use it at four locations to unlock it. |
||
I Saw That Town Complete New Game Plus on any difficulty. |
||
Upon completing the game, you will unlock a New Game+ option when starting a new game. This offers a few new items tied to the various NG+ endings, as well as a chainsaw you can use. Finish the game with any ending for this. | ||
Radio Silence Complete the game without using the radio. |
||
Missable!
The radio is an automatic story item, unlocked during a cutscene when you pick up the Wooden Plank and encounter the first enemy in the game. It emits sound when enemies are nearby. As soon as you get the radio, open your inventory and turn off by highlighting it and pressing . There is an enemy in front of you as soon as you get the radio, but if you go into your inventory and turn it off immediately this won’t fail the trophy. Once it is turned off, as long as you don’t turn it back on it you will get this when you complete the game. If you want you can turn on a visual radio indicator in Accessibility which will show an onscreen prompt when the radio detects an enemy. |
||
James of All Trades Kill at least one enemy with Wooden Plank, Steel Pipe, Handgun, Shotgun and Rifle in a single playthrough. |
||
Missable!
There are five weapons that you will find throughout the game. As long as you’re using each weapon you should get this naturally.
|
||
Pieces Unarranged Collect all the Strange Photos in a single playthrough. |
||
Missable!
There are 26 Strange Photos to find throughout the game. These are polaroid photos that you can pick up. You will need to find them all in a single playthrough. The trophy pops the moment you collect the last one. |
||
Archivist Collect all memos in a single playthrough. |
||
Missable!
There are 68 Memos to find throughout the game. These are mostly notes you pick up and give hints towards progressing the story or finding optional content. Both New Game and New Game+ will have an exclusive Memo not available on the other mode, so depending on which mode you play you will need to find a different Memo. You will need to find them all in a single playthrough. The trophy pops the moment you collect the last one. |
||
Faster Than Fog Finish the game in under 10 hours. |
||
Missable!
10 hours is pretty lenient and you may even get this on a first playthrough. If not however then you can expect to do NG+ in 4-6 hours when just going for the endings and ignoring everything else. Cutscenes will count towards the timer, but pausing will not. Before Patch 1.06 there was a beneficial glitch with this trophy, in that if you finish the game with more than 24 hours played, you will unlock it. This was likely due to the tracking for the trophy resetting back to 0 after 24 hours, but has been fixed on patch 1.06. |
||
As Close as You Like Finish the game without killing enemies using ranged weapons. |
||
Missable!
To get this, don’t use your ranged weapons on enemies at all (Pistol, Shotgun, Rifle). You can shoot for the sake of puzzles/interacting with the environment, but don’t shoot enemies. This is best done on New Game+. In NG+ you get the Chainsaw which kills all regular enemies in one hit and bosses in only a few hits. |
||
Party Like It’s 2001 See all classic endings (Leave, Maria, In Water, Rebirth, Dog). |
||
Potentially Glitched.
You will need to get the Leave, Maria, In Water, Rebirth and Dog Endings for this trophy. They all have individual trophies, and this should unlock after getting them all. However there are rare occasions where this may not unlock despite getting all of the individual ending trophies and the trophy tracker will be stuck at 4/5. If this does happen, the only fix is to redo the various endings until it registers. For this reason it is recommended you check the tracker after each of the classic endings to check that it tracks, and if it doesn’t you will know which ending you have to repeat. |
||
Echoes Witness all glimpses of the past in a single playthrough. |
||
Missable!
There are 26 Glimpses of the Past throughout the game. These are interactable objects that will flash and play a sound, all of which are references to spots from the original Silent Hill 2. There is no way to track how many you have collected. You will need to find them all in a single playthrough. The trophy pops the moment you collect the last one. |
Jorge says
Thanks for the guide. Always awesome.
Just one question, could you clarify where to leave the manual save to get all the new game endings? I know you said second to last boss but I’m not sure where that is. Which chapter at which point? Maybe you could point me to the collectible guides and tell me “it’s between this one and this one”.
Thanks so much again.
Archavia says
You will know it is the last save point because it will have 9 red squares as opposed to the regular 1 square of every other save point. I’ll mention that.
James says
Did anyone of you know:
1. What is the purpose of the handkerchief you pick on room 201 in Woodside apartment?
2. Can you start your inspectation of the personal item (e.g. the knife and Mary photo) right before the start of final boss fight, would that help to change the ending of the game
3. Did Chainsaw count as melee weapon for as close as you like trophy
Bunkerbudy says
Small question, can you keep going into NG+ runs, like NG+, NG++, …?
If so I might try to play this game as blind as possible by playing blind the fist run and the second time when going for no radio, no ranged weapon and minus 10 hours.
And then go into NG++ to get at least 5 of the 6 endings there and do a 4the run to get all the collactables and Maria’s ending. I know this is way more time consuming, but I don’t like following guides on a first run :s
Bunkerbudy says
Never mind, thinking about it, if I want to do it that way i could just:
– Play blind
– Play NG+ and get -10 hours, no ranged weapons and radio
– New NG game to get all collectables and Maria + 2 other NG endings
– NG+ of the last playtrough to get the final 2/3 NG+ endings.
Archavia says
You can do NG+ as much as you like, it’s a simple toggle between NG and NG+ when starting a save.
Jimmy says
Thanks for the guide!
If I decide to play a completely blind run before following this guide, will I mess anything up?
Archavia says
Going in blind you may need a third playthrough due to Memos being New Game only, unless of course you find them all yourself.
Anonymous says
Thank you for the trophy guide. I’m surprised this remake’s Platinum trophy isn’t harder, considering the difficulty of earning it in Silent Hill 2 HD (even though I guessed that it would be easier than that at the very least), and the fact that other AAA modern survival horror games usually don’t have easy Platinum trophies. I’m personally glad that I’ll be able to just enjoy playing the game and earn a Platinum trophy that isn’t annoying.
Marco says
You’re the man. Thanks Bro
Nicolai Hansen says
Thank you for the guide. In between the last save and the two last bosses, do we really have time to inspect knife, photo and letter so much?
Victor says
Yes, but it doesn’t really help A LOT because you need other playthrough requirement to go towards in water ending
Lars says
When trying to complete the game under 10 hours does the timer stop if you pause the game?
Copperpot says
Would also like to know this. Thanks.
Archavia says
I believe it does, yes.
MdMaynard says
Thank you Pyx team & Archavia for another amazing guide,
I mentioned on the collectables page that I found a glitch for recovering full health by reloading. So whenever you need healing you can just run to a save spot, make a save then just load it and fully recover your health.
This is especially helpful for the No Ranged Weapon Kills trophies and can save your health items for bosses & tough encounters.
This is working on PS5 current ver 1.003.000, does not work on PC.
DarthMandolorianLothbrok says
Doesn’t work on PS5 either
Jhonnyhd says
You don’t recover any health.
Only red screen gets away but the health remains the same….
WickedMatrix says
Need to quit the game and re-load before it can work.
DarthMandalorianLothbrok says
Completed the game on hard and it doesn’t work. Went back and tested in standard, still doesn’t work. Tested it on the easiest difficulty and then it worked, but like someone else said, it doesn’t fully heal you, just back to almost full health.
Jake2by4 says
Wow didn’t expect it to be a 3/10 difficulty but kinda glad. After RE4R and Village a little easier trophy for a survival horror game is nice.
Luiz says
I tried getting the in water ending before the last boss fight but it didnt work, i interacted with the knife multiple times and got in the last fight with low health, as well as the conversation
what am i missing?
Archavia says
Try it again, examining the knife 5+ times, and while listening to the conversation in the hallway keep the knife out examining the whole time. See if that works? It’s not 100% consistent, and don’t forget if you can’t get it on your first playthrough you can always do it on the second.
PhantomFear94 says
Same here. Sounds like if you’re hyper aware of not having negative health throughout your playthrough (I know this a condition for both Maria and Leave, which I got just fine) then you just don’t have enough time to be in negative health before then ending.
I have plenty of banked saves, so if I don’t get it in NG+ then I’ll probably go back to an older save.
Teige says
Same here, trying to get these endings is not easy. Tried severeal times from the last save point???? can you heal during the last bossfight?
Brad says
Any suggested place to grind for the Merciless (Finish off 50 enemies with a stomp attack) trophy?
I get that James doing the stomp is somewhat random, but either they’re already dead by the time I stomp them or my melee weapon kills them. As the PS5 tracker only seems to go up by 1 every 10 enemies. Any way to consistently get stomp kills?
Archavia says
Probably the Bug Room just before Toluca Prison. As long as you don’t input the code, 3 bug monsters will intermittently respawn, and as long as they’re not on the wall you can get some stomps.
Brad says
I stomped a few bugs just now, but my trophy counter hasn’t gone up at all. Maybe bugs don’t count?
PhantomFear94 says
My tracker seems to be stuck at 11/50. I’ve stomped countless enemies and it feels like I should have many, many more than I do.
Anonymous says
Make a save before leaving otherworld hospital and as you exit the hospital go left and stomp the crawling guy that comes from under the car. Reload the save and wash rinse repeat for the remainder you need.
Lord Malachite says
I found a great place to do this in the Blue Creek Apartments.
Progress to Apartment 212. This is the room with the grandfather clock puzzle and should have no enemies. From here you will go out on a balcony and into Apartment 203. After defeating a mannequin enemy in here, you’ll break through a wall and move into Apartment 205. You’ll immediately be in a room with a crib. This crib has handgun ammo inside it.
DO NOT TAKE THE HANDGUN AMMO YET! Go back to Apartment 212 and make a manual save with the mannequin dead and the wall already broken through. Then return to this room. Move to the far side of the crib so that you are directly across from the door that opens out of this room, standing between the wall and the crib. Now take the handgun ammo. This will spawn a bug that immediately crawls out from under the crib directly towards you. Since you cannot swing the club at the bug in these cramped quarters, you will default to stomping it.
Now reload your save and do this ad nauseam until the trophy unlocks. The trophy does not take reloads into account so you’ll have no trouble. Depending on how many enemies you have stomped to death by this point, you will likely need to reload around 30 or 40 times, but it is a very quick trip from the save point and you can probably get two kills a minute with this method.
Ed says
For the pizza Leftovers trophy, you can get it the second time you reach that area on the way to Historical Society. Just got it myself.
Tryhead says
I did get all 68 memos on the same playthrough, but didn’t get the trophy. I tried going all the way to NG+ to get the exclusive memo, but still no trophy. I’m 99.9% sure I got all 68 memos. Anyone else having this problem?
Archavia says
Do you have a save just before the last boss? On the stat screen after finishing the game there is a tracker for Notes collected, which is for the memo trophy. If you can, check that to see if it says 68. If it doesn’t, you may need to manually check your memos to see if something is missing.
If you’re on NG+, you’d need to collect them all again (assuming the NG+ memo actually counts for it), simply grabbing that wouldn’t count as you need all on one playthrough.
Bartski says
I can confirm I got Archivist on NG+. It unlocks when picking up all notes including up the note inside bowl-o-rama safe
S says
I appreciate you for confirming this! Going to give it a try on my next play through.
twoflowers says
Thanks for the guide. Just One Question, in the endings guide it’s said i should save at the final save point (9 red squares) and inspect mary’s letter and photo multiple times. Problem is, Mary’s letter is already gone from my intentory at that time (i think it automatically happens in the labyrinth). I only got the empty envelope, angela’s knife, handkerchief and mary’s photo.
Should i inpsect the envelope instead? or maybe this is an error/oversight in the guide?
Jaykz says
I have found a glitch for the trophy No Big Deal. My count stopped at 65/75 kill with weapons. I have tried across two different playthroughs (a new game and a new game +) and it has stopped increasing at 65 during the first playthrough. I have killed much more than 75 with guns, that’s for sure.
I currently don’t know what to do.
Jaykz says
I somehow solved it. It reloaded an earlier save, killed a few ennemies (which didn’t change the count of killed ennemies), reloaded my most recent save, killed an ennemy and it started increasing again.
Guil says
Did all the steps for the “Maria” ending and yet couldn’t get it, I’m gutted as on Ng+ while doing the quick run to finish under 10h I might not be unable to do it prompting to go for a 3rd playthrough ????
Guil says
PS: I tried again after getting in water and leave and got it!
The only thing I did differently was to place the Scarlet egg and go through the right hand side door, while in the first attempt I’ve placed it in the left hand side door and went through it. Nevertheless I’m ready for ng+ and the plat! Thanks heaps for the guide

I’m of the opinion ‘Merciless’ is not bugged, but that for many standard enemy kills one *thinks* you finished off with a stomp, that enemy might have been in its post-death convulsion animation instead. Once I clocked on to what was an alive but downed enemy and what was a dead enemy about to explode or convulsion, it became less frustrating.
I have found a quick and easy grind spot for this in South Vale – Otherworld (7th location on collectible guide). I had about 30/50 kills naturally by the time I got to South Vale (Otherworld), I went to Nelly’s Bar, picked up Memo #47 and saved. Then, exit the bar and turn right. There will be an obvious bug by the dead end covered in sheets. Stomp on it, then re-load, it’ll up the tracker each time.
Additionally, my hit rate was more like 80% than 33%. Wait for it to be right under your feet and you’ll stomp it virtually every time.
John says
Just a heads up for people worrying about the trophies where you need to kill a certain amount of enemies. You can farm kills easily by killing an enemy and then reloading an Autosave or Manual Save and then you can kill the same enemy over and over again.

Got 3 regular endings in NG by following the guide exactly. I placed Ripe Apple in Mirror Puzzle in Lakeview Hotel and got 3 endings by:
1) Maria: Scarlet Egg, do not inspect anything, do not listen to the full conversation (maybe triggered by not listening about Mary’s “I don’t really mean it” part);
2) Leave: Rust-Colored Egg, inspect Mary’s letter and photo many times, listen the full conversation while looking at Mary’s photo;
3) In water: Rust-Colored Egg, inspect Angela’s Knife many times, listen the full conversation while looking at Angela’s Knife.
You can tell you get the Maria ending since the final boss will lay in bed while the other two endings will have the final boss stand by the window.
Another quick tip is that Merciless (Finish off 50 enemies with a stomp attack) can be easily done by shooting at the legs of enemies. They will kneel on the ground and your melee attack should be one hit with the stick and one stomp attack, where the stomp attack should kill the enemy. I am on Light and nurses with knives or sticks always die by one shot, one hit, and one stomp attack.

Patch: Forget to mention that I kept low health for the last 2 boss fights for In Water ending.
PhantomFear94 says
I got Maria and Leave first time each, struggling with In Water.
I’ll try one more time. I may go back just a little bit and have some negative health during Lakeview Hotel too. I never had pulsing red health so maybe just haven’t had it long enough. Can do it NG+ but I don’t know if I can be bother being burdened by the ending when people are clearly getting this.
Examining the knife WHILST listening to the final hall dialog is interesting.
Neme says
Is possibile get memo trophies on NG+, Confirmed? Thx
Archavia says
Yeah it’s confirmed now, as long as you get the NG+ exclusive memo in South Vale (West).
Neme says
Thx for your work, awesome guide
ichbinkaz says
I’ve managed to get Maria ending but the first ending was “In the water”.
Please notice:
I didn’t attend her in the hospital. I attended her in the labyrinth a couple of times.
I didn’t interact with her much while being together.
I put the ripe apple.
What I did to manipulate the endings and get all three main endings in the first playthrough was to examine the Mary’s portrait like 5-7 times before the pyramid heads fight, and afterwards in the hallway while listening to the entire monologue.
It’s quite hard to comprehend how getting a specific ending works given the fact that I’ve not completed all requirements for Maria’s ending.
Raphe says
Are you aware of Pyramid Head triggering radio static in the woodside apartments even though the radio is turned off? Does this void the trophy? Is there any way to avoid this? Thanks.
Archavia says
That is entirely story related and does not null the trophy. If you have the radio visual indicator enabled it doesn’t actually register on it.
reconassassin92 says
i’m at the hospital other world now, I dont believe I have killed any enemies with a gun yet. I shot pyramid head during the first encounter, and I shot the balloons for that party trophy. Should I be good for the no gun achievement still? The guide says dont fire a bullet, the specific trophy text says not to kill an enemy
Archavia says
I only recommend not firing a bullet to be safe, but based off the wording as long as you haven’t gotten a kill with a gun you should be okay. We haven’t gotten confirmation about this yet however so do bare that in mind.
Superocco says
The ending stuff is not working properly. I did everything on Maria’s end, absolutely everything, didn’t even check Angela’s Knife, and yet I got the In Water ending. This is so annoying.
Melon says
Same for me, except I got the Leave Ending. Did all the convos, (Historical Society, the dress, Baldwin Mansion), checked in on her, used the ripe apple, used the door with the scarlet egg, Maria took barely any damage, I always used health items, never inspected Mary’s letter or photo or Angela’s knife, and didn’t listen to the full convo in the hallway. Sigh.
SilentResident7 says
Do cutscenes add to the timer?
Chaz says
Yeah they do, pausing does not!
Jake2000 says
First of all, thanks for your awesome guide, but I have a question about under 10 hour trophy(faster than fog). If I watch the cutscenes, does the game count this in my timer or not? Do I have to skip the cutscenes? because I really enjoy watching them.
OneWinged89 says
Cutscenes are counted toward it, but you can leave the game on to make the play time counter go above 24h and it will pop up for you after the ending cutscene.
Superocco says
How do I fix the “Part Like It’s 2001” bug? I know it’s either Dog or UFO the one that hasn’t registered, but the counter doesn’t go up as much as I keep repeating them. Please don’t tell me I have to do all the endings on a new playthrough ’cause this is driving me crazy.
Archavia says
I didn’t experience this bug personally but heard about it from another commenter, they were able to get it by redoing the endings a few times from the same save until it triggered. They didn’t need to do a new playthrough. If you have a save right at the end of Lakeview Hotel you should be able to redo Dog/UFO in about a minute and repeat it a few times, hopefully that pops it.
2bNs says
The UFO ending is not required for the trophy. That’s why your counter didn’t go up. Read the trophy description again: “See all classic endings (Leave, Maria, In Water, Rebirth, Dog)”.
Alex says
Can I get the collectibles trophies in NG+ or does it have to be a normal game playthrough?
Archavia says
Can be done in NG+.
Hagz says
I’d like confirmation. I can’t remember if I grabbed the Lost and Found note in my New Game. Can I still get the trophy in New Game + if I missed it or would I have to start again.
Alex says
Thanks.
koymaxx says
When you said ‘inspect,’ did you mean ‘investigate’? I’ve looked at the item in my inventory many times, but I haven’t investigated it. Is that okay for getting the Maria ending?
2bNs says
I had asked myself the same question. I’m pretty sure you’re okay as long as you don’t “investigate” them. I unlocked all 3 endings although i looked at them many times in my inventory (not “investigate”!).
BodyChipper says
I did every single thing in the guide mentioned for the Maria ending and didn’t get it. Not only that but I turned the radio off as soon as I got it and never turned it back on, the inventory even shows it off, and didn’t get that trophy either.
BodyChipper says
Sigh… I guess I turned the radio off AFTER killing the first enemy as the cutscene throws you right into that fight and it happened so fast I didn’t realize you had to turn the radio off literally as soon as the cutscene ended.
Also, for the Water ending, get to critical heath during ht second to last boss fight and then stay at low low health while in the hallway for at least 10 minutes. Then you can heal and do the final boss. The game only seems to care that you spent more than 10 mins at low health for the entire game, so you could get this naturally. The Leave ending also seems to be somewhat based on how well you stayed at high health.
BodyChipper says
To pull this thread further, I reloaded and did everything as far as the Maria ending is concerned but allowed myself to stay in low health for 10 mins after the second to last boss fight, but before entering the final hall. Still went through the scarlet egg door, still left before the conversation in the hall was over. So it seems like Maria’s ending also requires you to have less concern about yourself/health, as she was on the bed as soon as I climbed the final ladder and got the Maria ending.
DandyPrime says
Okay, so this is what happened for me in regards to the endings if it helps to clarify any conflicting information, as I’ve recently read and noticed that the endings for this remake are very hard to get working right consistently. For context, this is my first time playing the game in any way, as I never played the original. That being said, I was privy to the major plot twist due to social and cultural osmosis within the gaming community. It’s just one of those things that is difficult to avoid if your in the community and aware of the series.
Anyway, this is what I did in my playthrough:
– I explored everywhere thoroughly.
– I interacted/investigated every item at least once, including all personal items. I looked at Angela’s knife twice.
– I never died and I always healed James immediately upon taking any noticeable damage, i.e., the moment the blood vignette appeared on screen, as I had upwards of 70 healing items by the time the game ended and didn’t care about using them liberally.
– I never let Maria get hurt.
– I got both Brookhaven Hospital cutscenes for checking in on Maria.
– I checked on Maria in the Labyrinth at least twice and fully exhausted her humming.
– The original outfit easter egg failed to work for me. I sat there in the room after coming out of the small gap and waited for Maria to interact with the outfit, but she never did. She just stands there and looks at it. I even tried reloading and it still wouldn’t work no matter what I did.
– I used the Rotten Apple for the mirror puzzle in the Lakeview Hotel.
– I put the Scarlet Egg in the left side door. I put the Rust-Colored Egg in the right side door and went through it.
– I listened to all of Mary’s dialogue in the hallway.
– This netted me the “In Water” Ending as my initial ending.
Afterwards, I loaded a save right before the double PH boss fight. Once that was done, the only difference I made is that I went through the left side door this time with the Scarlet Egg in it and I didn’t let Mary finish her dialogue. This netted me the “Leave” Ending.
I reloaded the same save again and all I did this time was put the Scarlet Egg in the right side door, went through it, and skipped Mary’s dialogue in the hallway. This netted me the “Maria” Ending.
I don’t know what the parameters are to get these endings, because it seems like a complete random mess, or it seems like it may be strictly tied to the doorways, what egg goes in which door, which one you end up going through, and then if you listen to Mary’s dialogue or not. I was reading up on what gets you the “In Water” Ending and it confused me greatly because I was so adamant on healing, I don’t know how I was ever at low health for a long enough period of time to warrant that ending by default. Unless of course, inspecting Angela’s Knife twice is just that potent of a behavior that it adds so much weight to that ending happening? Hard to say.
In any event, I hope this helps to clear things up further. It may just make it more confusing though ???? ???? Thanks for the guide! I’ll be using it a lot for my NG+ collectibles run.
BodyChipper says
Another fun fact for the platinum: If you are missing the -10 hours, no radio, or no ranged kills trophies on your initial NG+ run, you will get credit for these even if you pick one of the special NG+ endings that somewhat end the game early.
Aquatical says
I’m trying my best to only do 2 play throughs, but I missed some achievements on my first play through like(all memos, all flashbacks, all photos, get a kill wit every weapon, and under 10hrs). But my question is if I make save before getting the rifle(not having killed anything wit a gun yet), and then once i get it, go and get a kill using every weapon for the trophy, if i load back to the save and continue to progress without killing anything wit a gun will it still count for the melee only trophy ?
Charlie says
1- We do not know yet why it is classified as a personal object. Might never know. My personal head canon is that it’s implied the handkerchief is Mary’s. Think what you will.
2- Yes. Just make sure to save before inspecting a few times the knife for In Water and both the photo and letter for Leave.
3- It’s a melee weapon.
miguelfcp says
Hello!
I’ve done my first run on the game completely blind so I experience this 100%. I’ve got “In water” ending.
So I want to attack the platinum trophy. My plan would be two extra runs. One is going for all necessary endings and the other for no radio, only melee and less than 10h.
For the next run what should I do? Go for the Maria ending and then manipulate in the end for others? Leave UFO ending for the third run? Which items should I be careful picking up to have Maria and Leave endings?
Thanks!
Best regards
mijerator says
You can do ‘leave’ ‘maria’ ‘dog and ufo in same play through as long as you save before you get the 3f key
Anomaly-XB-6783 says
Does the 24 hour glitch for the 10 hour run still works after the update?
Anomaly-XB-6783 says
Yes, can confirm it still works with 1.004.000. Just tested it myself.
Mesc says
Ugh, the game is giving me flashbacks to when I played it in 2001. I followed all the steps for Maria’s ending but got leave instead. I’m going to try a few more times because I think I listened to the entire convo in the hallway but I ran the whole time so I’m not sure how.
Mesc says
So after 2 more tries I got the Maria ending. I followed ALL steps in this guide.
Here’s what I did differently, on PS5 I turned on performance mode it seemed in quality mode I wasn’t going fast enough in the hallway and was hearing the full convo. I also didn’t hit red health once in 2nd to last boss fight, I put Scarlet egg in left door, rust in right. Went through Scarlet door, and finally got Maria’s ending.
Hope this helps anyone else who followed all the steps and wondering why they’re not getting Marias ending.
GiantMeteor2024 says
Yep, worked for me too. Nice catch.
Joshua09 says
Unable to get In Water ending and it is literally the last thing I need for the platinum. I’m at the end of my New Game Plus run. My first playthrough I got Leave. I did New Game Plus and unlocked Dog, UFO, and Rebirth. Reloaded a save and did not pick up the last item needed for Rebirth ending. Got Maria ending. Now, every time I try for In Water I get Leave. Absolutely refuse to do a whole third playthrough just for this ending. I’ve examined Angela’s Knife over 20 times. Stand in hallway and listen to all of Marys dialogue. Keep myself in critical health for 30 minutes before fighting and defeating final boss. Still get Leave. What am I doing wrong?
Victor says
I’m right here with you, SAME THING, don’t know what is wrong but I’m going CRAZY

I got the Marie ending and loaded my save before the 2 pyramid heads and I don’t have Mary’s letter only here photo.

In Water ending has to be glitched because THERE IS NO WAY!, I’m almost going to try and to the opposite of what the guide says to see if something helps ????????
Jathie says
I investigated both the picture and letter of Mary at the beginning of the game… this means I’m not getting the Maria ending?
Dreamcrawler says
Hey there,
I need your help.
During my NG Playthrough i tried everything for the Maria Ending (used Powerpyx Guide). Everything worked great, except she was hit one or two times…
But now at the end i only get the “Leave” Ending. I ran through the corridor, placed the ripe Apple, Scarlet Egg etc. I also tried the Water Ending but no Chance. I was nearly dying during the PH Fight, examined the knife about 50 Times, examined it during the monologue etc.
Anyone with a final advise out there, which gives me at least one additional ending, so i can focus the Last Ending during NG+ (Apple, Coin, Gallow…)
Cheers

Do pyramid head fight again but don’t let your health get low,as soon as you get hit,heal straightaway
