Silent Hill 2 Remake South Vale (West) Collectible Locations

South Vale (West) is the 4th area in Silent Hill 2 Remake. This 100% walkthrough will guide you to all collectibles in chronological order. Everything that’s needed for trophies, achievements and 100% completion is included: Memos, Strange Photos, Glimpses from the Past, Key Items, Puzzle Solutions, Trophies & Achievements.

All Collectibles must be found in a single playthrough. Everything is missable! After leaving an area you can’t go back. There’s no Chapter Select and no Free-Roam after the story. Collectibles don’t carry over into New Game Plus either. The game has 10 manual save slots, make use of this by saving in different slots regularly. If you missed anything you can reload a previous save to replay from there.

South Vale (West) has a New Game+ exclusive Memo. This replaces a memo from later in the game, so if you are on New Game+ you will need to make sure to collect this memo.

The Memos and Strange Photos you found can be viewed in the Inventory Menu by pressing the Touchpad. Glimpses from the Past can’t be tracked anywhere. This guide is intended for the “Light” or “Standard” Puzzle Difficulty, the solutions for both difficulties will be mentioned. Combat difficulty does not matter, all Trophies can be done on “Light” difficulty.

After a cutscene on the docks of Rosewater Park.

Strange Photo #7: “So far from home”
After entering Rosewater Park, turn right to find this in the first nook on the right, on the stone bench.

Memo #22 (South Vale): Bloody Note
Head west all the way along Nathan Ave. to find this note next to a corpse where the road ends.

Glimpse of the Past #9 + Trophy: Leftovers
On the way back, enter Pete’s Bowl-O-Rama. The pizza can be found on a bench in the back left.

Memo (South Vale): Cryptic Letter – New Game+ Only!
This memo can only be found on New Game+. Inside the safe in Bowl-O-Rama The code is 1887. You won’t be able to interact with this safe on New Game as it will be covered. This will replace the Lost & Found Note in Lakeview Hotel that disappears on New Game+, so you will need to collect this to get the Archivist trophy/achievement for all Memos on New Game+.

Glimpse of the Past #10
Directly south of Pete’s Bowl-O-Rama, there are some stairs leading up to a barred gate, just before the barricade. Examine the gate for another glimpse.

Key Item: Garage Jack Lever
Enter the back lot of Octantis Fuels to grab this from the green car.

Strange Photo #8: “made it!”
Return all the way east and use the lever on the Garage Jack at the back of the garage outside Rosewater Park. Head inside to find this photo on a red cabinet next to a raised car.

Memo #23 (South Vale): Reception Desk Note
Inside reception of Jack’s Inn, on the bulletin board next to the safe.

Key Item: Gate Key
Found inside the safe in Jack’s Inn reception. Code is 0451 (Light + Standard Puzzle Difficulty).

Memo #24 (South Vale): Toolbox Memo
Upstairs at Jack’s Inn, enter Room 108 by breaking the window. Smash the wall inside and enter Room 107 to find this on the table.

When you are ready, use the Gate Key on the gate in the corner of the parking lot at Jack’s Inn. Note: Secret in Room 106 is done later on the second visit to this area.

Warning: Point of No Return
Heading west down Katz St. will lock you out of the previous areas. Make sure you’ve found everything before continuing.

Equipment: Steel Pipe
Automatically acquired after the cutscene, this will replace your Wooden Plank.

Strange Photo #9: “Ready to kill it!”
Inside Heaven’s Night, on one of the mirrors in the dressing room. Highly Missable! Make sure to get this before entering Moonlight Grove.

Strange Photo #10: “Church entrance”
Inside Moonlight Grove, after the cutscene walk down the southern path to find this sitting next to a fountain. Highly Missable! Make sure to get this before entering the movie theater.

Strange Photo #11: “Best Flavor!”
Inside Reverie Theater, you can get in a row between seats on the right side of the theater (basically behind Eddie, a few steps up, on some of the chairs). Highly Missable! Make sure to get this before leaving the movie theater.
