Brave Adventurer is the sixth Story Mission of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It is a dream-sequence by Lara and throws us into the past; playing her as a little girl at Croft Manor. This sequence cannot be replayed in the same savegame, so revisiting for collectible clean-up isn’t possible here.
Region: Croft Manor
Quest Giver: automatic
Requirement: having finished Rough Landing
Although not needed for the 100% game completion, we want to focus on doing all the extra bits here.
There is one challenge you can do in the garden area, right at the beginning. Completing it nets us one skill point which we can use later.
This short mission also has a total of 7 collectibles – 3 of them are obtained automatically; you only have to get 4 yourself.
In the Garden
Collectible #1 – Hand Drawn Map
In your inventory from the start.
Collectible #2 – White Queen (Game Piece)
Found in a chest behind a tree very close to where you start.
Collectible #3 – Letter to Winston
Found under the entrance to the large wooden fort/boat.
Collectible #4 – Family Photo
Found in the treasure chest on the top of the wooden boat. To lower it’s platform, you have to throw three of the black balls on top of it. These balls are laying around and on top of the boat.
Challenge – Bullseye
There is a total of four targets you have to hit with the black balls.
Climbing the Building
Nothing to collect while going up. Just use the focus to spot the part where you have to start climbing, if you haven’t already seen it.
After eavesdropping on a call from you father, we proceed to climb all the way up.
After going around the side of the tower and a slight mishap, we will eventually climb all the way to the large glass roof.
Rather sooner than later we find ourselves in the mansion itself.
Inside Croft Manor
Collectible #5 – Enigmatic Clues
Obtained automatically when entering the main room.
Collectible #6 – Letter to Contractor
Once you have dropped down the ladder by using the Globe, climb up and head left. It’s sitting on a table.
Collectible #7 – Letter from Winston
Obtained automatically for finishing this mission.
Solving the Puzzle
Using the clue from Collectible #5, we have to use the Globe in the room and set it to 30° North and 90° East.
Doing so drops down a ladder, which we can climb up. Walk clockwise until you see a crank. This can be used to completely unfold the wings of the bat-thing hanging from the ceiling.
This is going to put two red lights down on the ground with the statues. Now, the two statues with the shields have to be pushed into these light-spots. You have to push some other figures out of the way first. The floor is pretty much a light-version of the board game Mills.
Pushing both figures in the correct spot reveals the White Queen. To access her, you have to use the Globe again to make the ladder retract again. After doing so, you can pull out the figure and place it on the board.
This will open the adjacent room. Entering it initiates the final cutscene of this mission.
This concludes the “Brave Adventurer” main mission and starts “Where the Twins Confer“.

You can find the Letter From Winston while still in the garden; it’s just to the left of the tresslis on the ground by a small stool.
