Hall of War Brazier
Once you get to the basement of Castle Dimitrescu you will reach a room with stone carvings on the walls. There’s a burning brazier hanging in the middle. You must make it swing against the 2 chalices in the room so they light up. Then the path opens up.
- Location: Castle Dimitrescu B1, Hall of War
- Solution: Walk against the burning Brazier to make it swing left and right towards the chalices. This will set them on fire and opens up a path forward.
Statues Puzzle
You will reach a room called Hall of Ablution with a pool of wine or blood and 4 statues (Horse, Woman, Lady, Three Beggars). They are four figures made from stone and you can spin them to make them look in a certain direction. Your goal is to spin the statues in the right direction. You can get a clue by reading the golden placard at the end of the room, which says “Women are blind to male advances, but the poor shall take their chance to give their lord their bounty sown, so that soon the wine may flow”.
- Location: Castle Dimitrescu 2F, Hall of Ablution
- Solution: Horse = facing right towards woman / Woman = facing up towards Lady / Lady = facing down towards Woman / Three Men = facing down towards Horse
Piano Puzzle
After getting Dimetrescu’s Key (unmissable story item) you will need to return to the Courtyard and use the key on the golden door there. This leads you to the Opera hall where you’ll find a piano on the 1st floor. Interact with it to start the piano puzzle sequence.
- Location: Castle Dimitrescu 1F, Opera Hall
- Solution: Press the piano keys corresponding to the notes on the sheet. You are allowed to press the wrong keys in between, you just need to hit each note once. The note you are playing is highlighted in yellow on the note sheet. Pressing a key further left plays a lower note, playing a key further right plays a higher note. So just try around until the note you’re playing (yellow dot on paper) lines up with the notes (black dots on paper). Then move on to the next note and repeat.
Bell Puzzle
In Dimetrescu Castle after passing through the library you’ll come to the Atelier. It looks like a painting room, with a big portrait of Lady Dimetrescu and a mechanical machine swinging around. There are 5 bells that you must shoot from this room. Then the big portrait opens up and reveals a hidden passage to the Attic.
- Location: Castle Dimitrescu 2F, Atelier
- Solution: Shoot all 5 Bells, their locations are listed below.
- Bell #1 is straight in front of you after entering the room.
- Bell #2 is a very small one on top of the cabinet to the right of the big Lady portrait.
- Bell #3 is on the swinging pendulum which is easiest to shoot by going up the left stairs and aiming through the opening in the wall.
- Bell #4 requires you to stand on top of the stairs and shoot out the window at the ceiling and then shoot the bell in the distance through the window.
- Bell #5 is on the chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Stand on the stairs to see it and shoot the chandelier to make it swing so that you can see the bell.
- Bell #1 is straight in front of you after entering the room.
Dungeon Treasure Puzzle
Earlier on you probably came across a locked chamber in the dungeon with a coffin or sarcophagus inside. You may also have found a Treasure Map in the Attic (RF) that highlights this area. You can now backtrack here and open the door (after having received the story-related “Iron Insignia Key” from the piano in Opera Hall). Use the Iron Insignia Key to open the door. You will notice there are some spikes guarding the coffin. The puzzle is to make them go away so you can access the coffin and get the Azure Eye treasure from it. You can combine it with the Silver Ring found in Castle Dimitrescu 2F, Hall of Pleasure to make the Azure Eye Ring. Combining it into the full treasures also unlocks the Repairer trophy.
- Location: Castle Dimitrescu B1, Dungeon (Special Chamber)
- Solution: When you enter the puzzle room pick up the pipe bomb on the right side. Throw it against the cracked wall to the left of the coffin. This blows up the wall. Now shoot the left hanging brazier so it reaches the fire behind the wall. Keep the left brazier swinging and shoot the right brazier so it swings into the left one. This will make the right brazier catch fire. After both braziers are on fire it will lower the spikes and you can open the coffin.
Village Workshop Safe
After returning to the Village you will have to get the Jack Handle (key item) from a safe in the Workshop area, which you can then use on a tractor to crawl under it. The numbers to the safe can be seen when you look out the window next to the safe. 07-04-08.
- Location: Village 1F, Workshop (Safe)
- Solution: The safe code is 07-04-08.
House Beneviento
The next story area that you’ll visit is House Beneviento. It’s essentially a puzzle house, you don’t use weapons here and instead must solve a series of puzzle steps. For the sake of better overview we’ll break it down into each step of the puzzle. Your goal is to escape the house.
House Beneviento Step 1 – Doll Puzzle
The first step is to examine the doll for some key items.
- Location: House Beneviento B1, Doll Workshop.
- Solution: Examine the upper right arm for the Silver Key, pull out the left leg to get the Winding Key, pull the ring from the left hand for the Blood Covered Ring.
House Beneviento Step 2 – Door Code to Exit Doll Room
The second step is to get the code from the ring and use the code on the door.
- Location: House Beneviento B1, Doll Workshop.
- Solution: Go to the adjacent room, turn on the water tap, examine the flowing water to wash the ring. Now examine the ring and turn it around. On the inside of the ring you can see the door code 05-29-11. Enter this into the door lock to exit the doll room.
House Beneviento Step 3 – Music Box Cylinders Puzzle
In the next room you must use the Winding Key on a music box and put the cylinders in the right order. The scratchings on them form a pattern.
- Location: House Beneviento B1, Music Box Room.
- Solution: Copy the cylinder order as shown on the screenshot here. The quickest option is to switch Cylinder 2 to Slot 1 / Cylinder 4 to Slot 2 / Cylinder 3 to Slot 5 / Cylinder 4 to Slot 3. The numbering is in the order from left to right (1 is furthest left, 5 is furthest right).
House Beneviento Step 4 – Filmstrip Projector Puzzle
Doing the Music Box puzzle will have given you Tweezers. Use these on the doll’s mouth to get a film strip and then go to the study to arrange 5 film strips in the correct order at the projector.
- Location: House Beneviento B1, Doll Workshop & Study.
- Solution: Use Tweezers on doll’s mouth to get the missing film strip. Place it at the Projector in the Study. The correct order of the 5 Film Strips is: 1) Plush Toy > 2) Village Book > 3) Baby > 4) Music Box > 5) Wedding Ring. The numbering here implies 1 is furthest left and 5 is furthest right.
House Beneviento Step 5 – Medallion Symbol Door Puzzle
Next you must pick up the scissors in the hall adjacent to the Study, pick up the phone, return to the doll to examine the chest and then use the item you get on the remaining door in the Doll Room. It has 3 spinning discs on it and you must change them to the correct symbols.
- Location: House Beneviento B1, Doll Workshop.
- Solution: Take Scissors in hallway adjacent to Study, use them to cut the bandages there and pick up the phone in the next hallway. Then head back to the Doll Room, cut the bandages on Doll’s Chest using Scissors and take out the Brass Medallion. Place the Brass Medallion on the door with 3 rotating symbols. Change the top left symbol to a flying raven looking to the left (its right wing missing), change the bottom symbol to 3 closed eyes. See the screenshot for the solution.
House Beneviento Step 6 – Breaker Box & Fuse Puzzle
The last step requires you to open the breaker box to the elevator and find the fuse. Then you can escape via the elevator. You must find a series of key items.
- Location: House Beneviento B1
- Solution: After going through the spinning symbols door you must climb down a dark well to find the Breaker Box Key. Use it on the box next to the elevator (in front of Study). A monster will hunt you but you can circle around the building to lose it. Inside the breaker box is the Relief of a Child. Place it on the door in the hallway between the Study and the room where you washed the key. This leads to the room with the Fuse. On your way back the monster will come at you, backtrack to the Fuse room and hide under the bed. When the monster is crawling away from the door you leave and run for the Fuse Box by the elevator. Place the Fuse, then circle around the Study to distract the monster, then hit the elevator button when it’s powered up and press the key inside the elevator to escape.
House Beneviento Step 7 – Donna and Angie Boss Fight
On your way out you will still have to deal with the Donna and Angie boss. It’s a unique puzzle fight! You must find the white doll 3 times in a row before time runs out. If you take too long the other dolls will defeat you. You can tell which doll you need to interact with because it has a white dress around it, not a black one like normal dolls. Just press the Examine button when you find it, should show you the button prompt on it.
- Location: House Beneviento F1
- Solution: The doll has 3 spawns. First it will always spawn upstairs in the side room – head up the stairs and go through the door to the right of the windows. The white doll sits at the end of that side room. The next 2 spawns are random and can change each try but they are always downstairs (never upstairs). Just follow the blood trail, you should see blood smears around the house now. The usual placements are in the living room area, either next to the couch or by the dining table, or out in the hallway by the half-open door. The third placement is most often in front of the elevator. After finding the doll 3 times you will escape House Beneviento.
Sluice Gate Control Pattern
During the Moreau area, after activating the windmill with the crank key item, you will have to return to the Sluice Gate Control building. Now that you turned on the windmill it will have restored the power. There’s a picture with a blue-orange-white pattern sitting on the console. The trick is to turn the picture sideways so the black field is on the right side, just like it is on the actual console.
- Location: Village 1F, Moreau Area (Sluice Gate Control Building)
- Solution: Top Row = Blue, White, Orange / Middle Row = White, Orange, Black / Bottom Row = Orange, Blue, Blue.
That’s all of the Puzzles in Resident Evil Village.
