Visiting Hours is the 68th main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Visiting Hours Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100% completion.
Visiting Hours is unlocked after completing Icarus and Friends and That’s Murfee Country.
Quest Giver: Sadie Adler
Chapter: 6
Region: Lemoyne
Gold Medal Requirements:
- Get headshots on both Prison Guards when sniping from the tower
- Escape to the boat within 2 minutes 45 seconds
- Complete within 9 minutes
- Complete with at least 80% accuracy
- Complete the mission without taking any health items
Starting Location: Lannahechee River, Lemoyne
Talk to Sadie
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete within 9 minutes
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete the mission without taking any health items
As always, skip this cinematic. Meet up with Sadie on the docks, and you’ll catch the end of an argument with Abigail about why she isn’t coming with you on the rescue. You’ll push off and start heading towards the island in short order.
Start rowing straight for the waypoint indicator. As you approach you’ll trigger another cinematic which you should skip.
Stay low and follow Sadie to the watch tower.
Climb up the ladder and take him out with a stealth kill.
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete with at least 80% accuracy
Then pull out your binoculars and look to the south where the chain gang next to the red barn works in the fields.
Sadie will take you to take out the two guards so you can go get John, so break out your sniper rifle and hit them with a pair of Dead Eye headshots.
- GOLD MEDAL: Get headshots on both Prison Guards when sniping from the tower
Immediately jump over the railing and start running towards the chain gang.
As you approach, you will trigger another cinematic which you should skip. Looks like Marston wasn’t on the chain gang today. Time for plan B.
Take your hostage to the front gates as quickly as possible. Sadie will disarm any other guards that you encounter along the way.
Some more painfully than others.
As you approach with your human shield, you’ll see a number of guards manning the walkway above and a cinematic will start, which you should skip.
Arthur offers a trade of John Marston for his guard hostage. A few moments later they bring him out, and he and Sadie start running for the cover near the bridge.
- GOLD MEDAL: Escape to the boat within 2 minutes 45 seconds
You’ll begin in the middle of a firefight, and you will have to take care of the immediate threat before John and Sadie will move from cover. Break out the sniper rifle again and thin out the guards with rifles on the walkway.
When Sadie and John run, follow them. The goal is to only take cover when absolutely necessary, then only as long as it takes to deal with any guards that are approaching you. You should be running at all other times, otherwise you will never make the gold medal requirement. As soon as you get across the bridge, there will be a huge clump of guards following you to thin out.
Rather than taking cover behind the crates, run a little bit further so you can use the brick building for cover. This will prevent any snipers that you missed taking out earlier from being able to kill you.
As soon as it’s (relatively) safe to do so, turn around and keep running. Among your priority targets should be any mounted guards that try to flank you, which you can kill while on the run.
The next hard cover is some crates at the end of the fields. Take a second to kill any guards that have gained any ground on you, then as soon as John and Sadie move, keep running!
As soon as you reach the boat, a cinematic will begin, which you should skip.
While Sadie rows you and John to safety, you are standing in the boat with your sniper rifle to kill any guards that might follow you. Watch out for enemies ahead and to the left of you. You’ll probably have to take out four or five of them before you’ll be safe. Another cinematic will play for the trip back. Skip this as well. Get on your horse and follow Sadie to your new camp at Beaver Hollow, skipping the travel cinematic which should also take care of the ending cinematic.
John is safe, and you had a nice day out on the lake with Sadie. All in all, a pretty good day.
This finishes Visiting Hours main mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now the next quest Do Not Seek Absolution – I starts.
Next Up: Do Not Seek Absolution – I

Another dumb impossible time frame. Do one million things in 9 minutes… It’s so apparent that the *** who thought of these medal requirements didn’t design this horrid *** of a mission in the 1st place. Also pretty obvious it isn’t playtested AT ALL.
Anyway, aside from a healthy dose of luck you need by not getting one shot by snipers, which seem totally random btw, you also need to activate cinematic view during the horse ride back to camp and pray that you can skip the last travel cinematic, because I couldn’t and that’s another 20 seconds lost.

It’s actually very easy. just RUN away immediately, and they’ll teleport to the boat. Cinematic mode was a nice boost to further cut time, but I don’t think it’s needed with that cheese.

Thanks for the tip. I didn’t skip any cutscenes and still made the time requirement by just running to the boat.

Thanks for the tip Dan!

Awesome tips. Got it on 1st attempt. BTW hi guys don’t have to skip cut scene. It doesn’t count
Pulling my hair out says
Achieved Gold on first attempt in thanks due to Dan who had posted on November 22, 2018 that by running straight to the boat after getting John busted will instantly kick off the next stage making this incredibly easy as long as you push it. Thanks, Dan.

Skip all cut scenes
Take a rolling block with you
Put a marker down roughly where the boat is so you know where you’re running to
Run straight to the tower and kill the guard with a knife
Kill the two guards in the chain gang with dead eye and your rolling block as soon as you’re able. Kill the one on the horse first.
Jump down and wait and run with Sadie
Once John is released, just run towards your marker
As you crossing the fields the 5 riders will appear, single dead eye kill each one unless they’re bunched and do all at once or in two groups
As soon as you get to the boat, push it out and skip the scene again
From the shore you can either dead eye or flick stick kill the guards.
Mount your horse, skip scenes, you’re done

I ran straight to the boat on 3rd attempt. Easy win. Thanks

I got this on my 4th or 5th attempt. Do not follow the advice where the guide says “Immediately jump over the railing and start running towards the chain gang.”, this will fail the mission because you “abandon” Sadie. Other then that this mission isn’t too bad. Thanks to Dan’s advice above. I know most everyone completed this awhile ago but to anyone who will do this in the future follow Dan’s advice to run to the boat right away.
On another note: anyone else absolutely HATE the time restrictions on the Gold requirements, they are very hard at times and take away from an enjoyable gameplay. Seems like this whole game is ridiculously detailed and the developers created it for gamers to take their time. So why then would you make Gold Medal requirements that make us rush?!?!??
Sam says
That’s what I want to know. Whose idea was it to make it so that the ONLY way attain full credit for doing story missions is by actually skipping all the story components? Because that person should be fired immediately.

Got the Gold on 2nd attempt, after “abandoning” Sadie the first try. Thanks for tip on the boat marker. I mostly ran straight there, despite a warning message to return to Sadie & John. I stopped to kill riders who popped up along the way. I also didn’t skip any cutscenes. I’m not sure they count towards time.
