This guide shows how to get Fishing Bait and Fishing Lures in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2).
Both of these items can be bought from the Bait Shop in Lemoyne Region, from the merchant at Lake Lagras. The location of the bait shop is shown below:

Talk to the merchant and she will sell you the Bait and Lures.
There are different types available for each sort of fish.
Bait
- Live Crickets – $0.50
- Live Worms – $0.50
- Crayfish – $0.25
- Herbivore Bait – $2.25
- Predator Bait – $3.00
Lures
- Special Lake Lure – $20.00
- Special River Lure – $20.00
- Special Swamp Lure – $20.00
- Lake Lure – $2.50
- River Lure – $2.50
- Swamp Lure – $2.50
Be sure to stock up on as much bait as you can carry (99 per category). You will consume a lot of bait when fishing. E.g. when a fish gets away you lose the bait. Also buy the Special Lures as early as possible, they can come in very handy. It’s obvious but you’ll want to use the Lure that matches the water (river, lake, swamp) and use the Bait that attracts the fish you want (as is shown in the “weapon wheel” when you have the Fishing Rod equipped).
There is only one Bait Shop in the game. You may also find the automatic horse travel (autopilot) guide useful for traveling to the shop automatically.

She doesn’t sell any thing, just provisions. I think A lot are having this issue. What do i do to be able to buy them?

You have to see the guy at the lake he gives you a map with all the ledgenary fish on then all the lures are unlocked
where is this at?
I can only carry 5 of each bait category items, i.e. a maximum of 5 live crickets and so on. How come you can carry 99?? Do i need a special satchel crafted by Pearson or how is it done? 5 worms, 5 crickets and 5 whatchumacallit won’t last long enough to make fishing enjoyable, though with the lures you could do without bait anyway..still, how to carry so much bait, please?
I’ve learned in this game, they’re is a special everything. Which is cool. I’m trying to play the first play run with no internet help. And come across what I come across. But the bait thing was just bugging me. I did get the map for the fish just cruising my house on the beach looking around. Found that “thinks he’s a celebrity” dude. This game is best played just free though first go. Then maybe a run as a bad guy. Or a run finding everything. Definitely has replay value. I think I had a special one, and stupidly lost my line :/ was taking forever to bring it in. Whatever it was. I love the games pace of slow, to hot situations. Thus I only play if I have days off, and can lay back and not push the pace of the game, but go with it.
You have to get the a Legend for the east satchel by competing the game or having person next make for you you.
