American Dreams is a Stranger Mission Strand (Side Questline) in Red Dead Redemption 2. This Walkthrough shows how to complete these Stranger Missions in RDR2.

Requirements: having finished Chapter 1
Reward: $ 20
American Dreams Prerequisites
In order to unlock the American Dreams Side Quest and it’s Stranger, you have to visit 3 murder scenes around the world and collect the maps from the victims chopped off heads. These Killer Clue Pieces can be combined, once you obtained all three of them.

American Dreams Location
We can find you, don’t worry!
The Stranger’s location is Lucky’s Cabin, south-west of Valentine. Open the hatch and go inside the sick murderer’s chamber. You can read a letter from his mom in the first room and have to interact with a knife in the second room. This is where the creep will appear and knock us out from behind.

Luckily, we can free ourselves after regaining conscience. Knock the killer out, hogtie him and bring him into the Valentines Sheriff’s Office.
When being put in a cell, the killer – who revealed his full name Edmund Lowry Jr. – will attack the Sheriff and we need to make use of Dead Eye and put the sick freak out of his misery once and for all.
The Sheriff will be thankful and reward us with $ 20.

Dayum, I missed out on $20 because I let the guy go to town on the sheriff and in another one I tried to kick the guy or attack him physically with fist or lasso him to no avail. Both times I got same reaction. Get out of here! That is your reward! So it is best to just deadeye kill him or just kill him. I noticed there is plenty of time as I was switching my weapons and trying different options with time to spare :D Should have just shot him with a weak weapon but oh well. $20 isn’t much in this game at this point!

No reward for me either, Arthur instantly pulls a rifle so I switched to the lasso. I didn’t want to kill the sick bastard because I wasted all that time carrying his ass over there since I had a perfect grizzly hide on my horse. No way I was losing that bear rug. Waste of time, unfortunately, the sheriff just shoots him anyway. Just one more way Rockstar spits in my face for being the good guy. I am getting more disappointed the longer I play

No it’s not. I found the last piece of the map after I had completed everything. It’s 1908 in the game and I just completed

Probably the most useless stranger mission in the game.
Discovered every piece of the map, found the basement, lassoed Edmund, took him to the sheriff, and as soon as I got the mission completed, the sheriff said “get out of here” for helping him! As soon as he got up, I got wanted and he shot me! Of course, then I came back and killed him back.
Bottom line, you just can’t be a good cowboy in this game. Should’ve just killed Edmund in his basement! Good job with this one Rockstar!
