Red Dead Redemption 2 has 19 Shack Locations. You must find only 5 shacks for 100% game completion in RDR2. They are a sort of collectible but listed under miscellaneous in the progress checklist. All of them except #13 & #17 can be visited as soon as you have reached Chapter 2 in the story (finished the prologue). They also contain useful loot and often cigarette cards. The #13 & #17 are huts that get build later in the game, I found them after the story.
None of them are missable, they are all in the open world and can still be visited after the story. You can see your progress in the Pause Menu under Progress – Total Completion – Shacks.

Great Work! Are Shacks 17,6 & 13 Correct? My map has nothing at these 3 places, Do I have to do something for them to spawn? Thanks
The 6th one is that little box in the same area. Look for it. Plus I also could find nothing at #17 and #13. Maybe they are not marked right.
What chapter are you guys?
I just went to #13 & #17 again and they are 100% definitely there. They both look like freshly built huts so maybe this happens later in story? I have already beaten the game and even on the map there is a very visible outline of these huts at the marked places. I also made a full high-res map without markers (which is linked in our wiki) and you can use that to compare the outlines vs. your game.
They must be tied to story progress… but I’m not sure when exactly they become available (guessing epilogue), if anyone finds out for sure, please leave a comment about it.
Well I just reached Chapter 2 and wanted to explore everything before continuing with the story. :P Maybe I am too early.

Hi, the problem is there are 178 animals and until I or someone else has found ALL of them we won’t know which ones are chapter 5 only or if they count for the trophy. There is no way to track which are chapter 5 specific. It will take me probably a week to get them all, it’s a lot to do + a lot of randomness with their spawns :/
In the meantime we will have to search them as a community and put together a list of what everyone has found in chapter 5. Then it also begs the question if these can spawn on the main map. And it’s not clear if these animals count for the trophies at all because the description says “in all states” but where you go in chapter 5 is not technically a state from the main game (it’s a unique side area).
Oh and you can’t get them via mission replay either, which sucks even more. In the missions you can’t go where animals spawn >_>
Why are Rockstar doing this to us. I think for now just mop up everything that’s possible in Chapter 4. When you’ve done everything keep a main save before chapter 5 and just finish the rest of the game and its trophies for now. Then when all animals have been found (probably in 1 week) you revert to your chapter 5 save and replay the game from there. You must beat the story to find the ones on the RDR1 map so this is absolutely horrible for the sake of completion.
What I know so far: Parrot, another bird, crabs, snakes.
ETA: whenever someone has earned the trophy (probably in 1 week).

Shacks 13 and 17 appear after chapter 6
Not sure if anyone is reading this still, but I am still I. Chapter 2. I have found all of what you have and more. In fact I have found 126 animals so far and I haven’t even been everywhere on the main map yet. I also took a row boat from the beach area, just south of Riggs station over to a couple of island off to the west of Rhodes and found crabs and green ignauna there no problem. A lot of snakes are in the water too. Macaws I haven’t found, but I have mostly been hunting for the last couple of days I have played. I find that sitting on my horse (General McBurger) I use my binoculars and see way more than even with eagle eye at times. Just freaked out by all the f**king snakes and random rams and bucks running into me. You can get crap ton of birds standing next to the trapper on the hill at Riggs station. Just mad that I need only 3 more plants and they are all in new Austin only. As a side note, I do think some plants randomly spawn where they shouldn’t I.e English mace should be in new Austin only but I found one up in the mountain, sadly it was before I my herbalist 8 task kicked in and went back to the place and nothing there now? except framing bears trying to murder me. Lol love the game though.
