Introduction
Welcome to the Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart Trophy Guide! R&C Rift Apart is a very easy and quick game to platinum. A pure story playthrough takes around 7 hours including all cutscenes and another 2-3 hours for doing other trophy-related tasks such as Collectibles. There are no difficulty-related trophies and only 1 missable. You don’t even need all Collectibles and don’t need to play through Challenge Mode (New Game+), either. Only buying 2 weapons in Challenge Mode is required. After the 2nd planet you get a spaceship and can fly back to old planets at any time. You can still free roam after the story. The game is set up like an open world, with 9 planets in total.
Step 1: Play through Story (any difficulty) & Get Missable Trophies
Because there are no difficulty-related trophies, you can play on the lowest difficulty if you wish. You can change the difficulty at any time in the game options. You can even skip puzzles from the pause menu, doing so won’t void any trophies. For the first step just focus on finishing the story. After the 2nd planet you unlock a spaceship to revisit old planets at any time. After the story you can resume from the title screen and it will put you back before the last checkpoint, allowing you to still free roam and go back to all planets. You will get most trophies without even trying. So just have fun and get the rest after the story. Only keep the 1 missable trophy in mind!
Missable:
- Planet 2: Sargasso – you should kill all possible Grunthors (big Dinosaurs) here. You visit this planet multiple times throughout the story. After Planet 7: Cordelion you go back here and new Grunthors spawn. You must kill a total of 5 Grunthors. The easiest method is to farm the first one 5 times, jump into the swamp water after killing it to make it respawn and repeat. See trophy Extinction Event.
For all other Collectibles, it comes down to personal preference whether you want to collect them as you go through each planet or to get them after the story. See Step 2 for a list of Collectibles and how many you need of each type. If you prefer to get everything right away (planet by planet), check out the Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart – Collectibles Guide (All-in-One). If you don’t want to deal with these now, use the links in Step 2 to mop them up after the story.
Step 2: Collectibles & Mop-Up
After the story choose “Resume” from the Title screen on your completed story save. It puts you back before the last checkpoint and you can still free roam to all planets. The game has an open-world structure. Complete any Collectible trophies you have left (click the links for the location guides):
» CraiggerBears (All 9 needed)
» Blizon Crystals (29 of 30 needed)
» Spybots (All 10 needed for RYNO weapon)
» Zurpstones (All 60 needed for a Spybot)
» Glitch Challenges (All 5 needed)
» Gold Bolts (5 of 25 needed)
» Lorbs (3 of 12 needed)
» Armor (3 of 24 needed, 1 of each body part)
After you’re done with that, work on your remaining miscellaneous trophies. The last trophy you’ll be missing is for buying all weapons. The last 2 require starting Challenge Mode.
Step 3: Starting Challenge Mode (New Game+) for last 2 Weapons
From the Title Screen you can start Challenge Mode (New Game+) in a new save slot. You only need to reach the first Ms. Zurkon weapon vendor in the prologue to buy the last 2 weapons from her (they are for free). This is approximately 10 minutes into the game. After buying these weapons you should get the trophy Fully Stacked for having all 20 weapons and with that the platinum. No need to beat Challenge Mode.

Can’t Stop Me Complete a Gold Cup Battleplex Challenge |
||
Gold Challenges become available only after finishing the 9th (last) planet Viceron. Then the story makes you return to the Battleplex arena on the 3rd planet Scarstu Debris Field. Here you can now play any Challenges you have left, including Gold Challenges. You can play on the easiest difficulty for this (can change difficulty anytime in game settings). It helps to have fully upgraded your favorite weapons so they deal more damage and have more ammo. If you run out of ammo, remember you can throw your melee weapon with + . Overall this is quite easy, you just need to defeat some waves of enemies. |
||
Hey Lombax DJ Play Three Songs on Zurkie’s Jukebox |
||
Zurkie’s Jukebox is found on the 3rd planet Scarstu Debris Field, inside the bar. You automatically go to the bar for story purposes, it’s a very tiny planet that consists of only a landing site, a weapon vendor, and then the bar itself. In the corner of the bar, left of where you sign up for the arena, is a jukebox. You must walk up to it and press to change the song. Then quite out of the song menu, interact with it again and change to the next song until the trophy pops. There are actually two prompts here, one for dancing when standing a few steps away from the jukebox, and one for changing the song when standing very close to it. Dancing doesn’t do anything here for the trophy, you have to do the interaction that changes the song. |

More Than Lint Enter a Hidden Pocket Dimension |
||
Pocket Dimensions are marked with a purple shard icon on the map when you go near them. They are purple portals. You only need to enter one of these and there are lots throughout the game, so this should happen naturally without worrying about it.
Here’s a location early on, in Corson V during the main objective “Find the Phantom at Club Nefarious”. |
||
Sartorial Steel Acquire a Piece of Armor |
||
See trophy “Does This Make My Tail Look Big?”.
Does This Make My Tail Look Big? Acquire and Equip Head, Torso, and Leg Armor |
||
Armor Pieces are mostly found inside Pocket Dimensions (purple portals), some are rewards from side quests, some are rewards for the Battleplex Challenges on 3rd planet Scarstu Debris Field, and some are hidden in the world. For this trophy you only need any one head, one torso, one leg armor. They don’t even need to be part of the same armor set, any will do! You should find enough armor pieces naturally without even trying. The most straightforward option would be to beat all Battleplex Challenges on the 3rd planet which give you at least one piece for each body part, but some Challenges are locked till the end of the game.
For all armor locations, follow the Armor guide below: » Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart – All Armor Locations |
||
Shiny! Collect a Gold Bolt |
||
See trophy “Nooks and Crannies”.
Nooks and Crannies Collect Five Gold Bolts |
||
Gold Bolts are a type of Collectible hidden around the game world. There are 25 of them but you only need 5 for trophy purposes (meaning you can skip 20 of them).
See the location guide below: » Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart – All Gold Bolt Locations |
||
Quantum Mechanic Repair a Dimensional Anomaly |
||
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. Unlocks on the 2nd planet Sargasso, after the part where you play as Clank to fix the purple anomaly. You can even pause the game and choose “Skip Puzzle” and will still earn the trophy.
They Blow Up So Fast Get a Weapon to Level Five |
||
You increase the weapon level by hitting enemies with it. The starting weapon “Blast Pistol” is easy to level up because it has a lot of ammo and is available from the start. If you keep using the same weapon this should be among the first few trophies you unlock.
There’s Even a Cupholder Fully Upgrade a Weapon |
||
First you must play the story a little bit until you unlock weapon upgrades from Mrs. Zurkon (weapon vendor), which is a main story objective. After this you can buy more upgrades from Mrs. Zurkon, she shows up at many locations throughout the game.
Upgrades cost Raritanium, which are blue crystals marked on the map and they are also dropped by a few strong enemies. There are tons more than what you need for this trophy, just remember to smash these blue crystals when you see them. You must also have reached Level 5 with a weapon before you can buy all upgrades. The reason is that each Weapon Level makes new upgrades available for purchase. Only at Weapon Level 5 you will have all upgrades available for purchase! You gain weapon levels by simply hitting enemies with a weapon. The easiest option is the starting weapon called Blast Pistol. It’s quick to level up and has fewer upgrades than other weapons. You need a total of 31 Raritanium to fully upgrade it. This is what the fully upgraded weapon looks like: If you’d like your Raritanium back, save up 31 of these, buy all upgrades for the Blast Pistol in one go, close the game after the trophy pops so it doesn’t have time to save. When you re-enter the game it puts you at the last checkpoint and you get your Raritanium back, then you can redistribute it on upgrades you like. |
||
Full Rack Fill a Weapon Wheel |
||
This unlocks when you have a total of 8 weapons. Weapon Wheel means the weapon select menu when you hold (the menu is circular like a wheel).
On your way to buying all weapons for Fully Stacked you will earn this automatically, so don’t even worry about this. |
||
Fully Stacked Purchase All Weapons |
||
All Weapons are bought from the weapon vendor called Ms. Zurkon. You find her on every planet. Over the course of the story she automatically has new weapons available. By the end of the story she will have all weapons for sale, except the RYNO which requires finding all 10 Spybots, and two weapons BOUNCER & PIXELIZER that are exclusive to Challenge Mode (New Game+).
Weapons are bought with the game’s currency “bolts”, which are dropped by enemies, from breaking boxes, and from winning Battleplex Challenges on Planet 3: Scarstu Debris Field. You should get enough bolts to buy everything in a single playthrough. If you end up missing some bolts, you can either keep grinding the Battleplex Challenges or start playing New Game+ (called Challenge Mode). In Challenge Mode the enemies drop a lot more bolts. Also note that weapons change their name when you reach level 5 with them. The below Weapons list uses the regular name, what the weapon is called when you first buy it. For the trophy it’s NOT needed to level up the weapons / no need to reach level 5 with them! The base version will do. It’s also NOT needed to buy any weapon upgrades that cost Raritanium Shards. Weapons List:
After you have 20 Weapon Slots filled in your Weapon Wheel, the trophy will unlock. |
||
Glitch, Uh, Finds a Way Complete All Glitch Challenges |
||
Glitch Challenges are a type of Collectible hidden around the game world. There are 5 of them, all are needed for trophy purposes. They are the minigames where you play as a spider bot and must shoot some viruses. You don’t need to actually play them, it’s okay to pause the game and use the “Skip Puzzle” option.
See the location guide below: » Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart – All Glitch Challenge Locations |
||
Shifty Character Hit Every Blizon Crystal on Blizar and Cordelion |
||
Note: Even though there are 30 Blizon Crystals, only 29 are needed to pop the trophy since patch v1.001.002 (prior to this it popped after the 30th Crystal). So you are allowed to miss one of them if you download the latest patch.
For this trophy you need only 29 of 30 Blizon Crystals, not “every Blizon Crystal” as the trophy says. They are exclusively found on Planet 5: Blizar Prime & Planet 7: Cordelion. Until you get to these planets you don’t have to worry about this. They are purple glowing crystals that when hit will make you switch to a different dimension. Hitting them is frequently needed to advance the story on these planets. Most of them are actually automatic for story purposes, but a few are in side areas. » Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart – All Blizon Crystal Locations |
||
BOING! Bounce on Big Al, Clank, and Qwark’s Parade Balloons |
||
Big Al: You automatically bounce on Big Al’s balloon during the Prologue (tutorial section), so this is automatic from the story, no way around it. Clank & Qwark: Clank’s & Qwark’s balloons are found in a hidden Pocket Dimension in the northeast of Corson V. It’s after earning the first story trophy where you get separated in Nefarious City. During the main objective “Find the Phantom at Club Nefarious”. Here’s the location: |
||
Max Relax Find the Nefarious Citizens by the Hot Springs |
||
This is done on the 4th planet Savali. Near the center of the map, just a few meters/yards south of the Ms. Zurkon weapon vendor is a hot spring with some robots bathing in it and some robots sitting in the sun beds above the hots pring. Just go near the robots in the sun beds and the trophy will unlock. Here is the exact location: |
||
Lombax and Chill Turn on the TV in Rivet’s Hideout |
||
This can be done in the world where you first play as Rivet (the female Lombax), the world called “Sargasso – Outpost L51”. After defeating the boss called Seekerpede at the end of this world, you can backtrack to Rivet’s Hideout and interact with the TV. The first time you enter the hideout you can’t do it right away, because a cutscene will play that triggers the Seekerpede boss fight. Only after the boss you can go back and interact with the TV. |
||
Alert the Sponsors Perform Five Trick Jumps on a Grind Rail |
||
A good place is on the 6th planet Torren IV, there the story forces you to do a very long rail grind, can’t miss it. You can still return to this rail grind later at any time. Simply do 5 double jumps while on the rail grind. Each of these will make you do a flip in the air which counts as a “Trick Jump”. |
||
Icebreaker Melee Five Frozen Enemies |
||
First you must buy the weapon “Cold Snap”. It freezes enemies. Then you can attack with to smash them to pieces while they’re still frozen.
An easy way to get this guaranteed is by playing the Battleplex Silver Challenge “Freezer Pop”, which forces you to destroy 25 frozen enemies with melee attacks. You start Battleplex Challenges at Zurkie’s Bar on the 3rd planet Scarstu Debris Field. |
||
No Need for Multiball Kill Two Enemies With a Single Ricochet Round |
||
First you must buy the weapon “Ricochet”. It can be bought from Ms. Zurkon, costs 6,500 Bolts, becomes available in the region Sargasso – Outpost L51. This weapon shoots a returning projectile that comes back to you, similar to a boomerang. You can easily kill 2 of the purple toad enemies in one hit, these are also found frequently throughout Sargasso – Outpost L51. They appear in large groups so it’s always easy to hit 2. Aim next to a group of toad enemies and shoot the Ricochet. Now walk in front of the toads and when the projectile comes back it will hit the toads from behind and kills them. Basically, you don’t want to shoot them from the front, but from behind with the returning projectile. There are lots of toad groups around the island in the center and southwest of this region. |
||
Return Policy Kill 10 Enemies by Returning Shots with the Void Reactor |
||
First you must buy the weapon called “Void Repulser”. It can be bought from Ms. Zukron, costs 17,500, becomes available at the end of Planet 4: Savali. Now you must level up the Void Repulser to Level 5 by hitting enemies with it. At Level 5 it turns into the “Void Reactor” (weapon name changes). With the Void Reactor hold to create a shield and collect bullets that enemies shoot at you. When done correctly the shield will turn purple and you will see glowing purple dots on the right side that indicate how many bullets it has collected. When the shield is purple press to shoot back the bullets at enemies. Make sure you have plenty of distance between you and the enemy so they actually get killed by the bullets and not by the shield’s blast! These bullets aren’t homing in on enemies, they will fly in a straight line – so make sure your reticle is centered at the enemy and only shoot at enemies that are standing still. This can quickly be farmed in the 1st Bronze Battleplex Challenge “Welcoming Committee”. Defeat the enemies in the 1st wave, then in the 2nd wave some pirates spawn that shoot slow projectiles at you. Defeat them using the returning shots, finish the remaining waves, and repeat the challenge again until you have the trophy. It’s best not to buy any upgrades (the ones that cost Raritanium) for the Void Repulser / Void Reactor, because it can increase the Shield’s blast radius so far that the blast kills the enemies and not the projectiles! You can still do it if fully upgraded, but the enemies will need to be much further away at the opposite end of the arena. |
||
Hole Puncher Get 20 Headshots with the Headhunter |
||
First you must buy the weapon “Headhunter”. It’s a sniper rifle that can be bought from Ms. Zurkon, costs 40,000, becomes available after beating the first 8 planets (near the end of the game).
Simply defeat 20 enemies total with headshots. An easy way to farm this is by replaying the Gold Battleplex Challenge “A Good Time to Zoom”. Here you must take out waves of enemies using only the Headhunter weapon and they are easy targets for headshots. |
||
Life of the Party Deploy 50 Mr. Fungis |
||
First you must buy the weapon “Mr. Fungi”. It can be bought from Ms. Zurkon, costs 3,000 Bolts, becomes available in the region Corson V – Nefarious City.
By default it can hold 3 ammo and each shot spawns a mushroom that follows you around and shoots enemies automatically. Simply shoot 50 of these (i.e. use up 50 Mr. Fungi ammo). It doesn’t need to hit anyone, you just need to empty the ammo. Do it constantly when you have some ammo for it even if there are no enemies around. You find new ammo mostly from boxes. |
||
Extreme Gardening Defeat 30 Enemies While They are Topiary’d |
||
First you must buy the weapon “Topiary Sprinkler”. It can be bought from Ms. Zurkon, costs 4,000 Bolts, becomes available in the region Sargasso – Outpost L51.
Each shot creates an automatic turret that sprays liquid at enemies. Enemies hit by this will turn green. You must kill 30 enemies while they are under this effect (while they are green). You can of course use other weapons to finish off the enemies, because the Topiary Sprinkler itself only applies a status effect and doesn’t do damage. The enemy just has to be affected by the Topiary Sprinkler when you deal the killing blow. |
||
It’s So Fluffy! Find a CraiggerBear |
||
See trophy “UnBEARably Awesome”.
UnBEARably Awesome Find all CraiggerBears |
||
CraiggerBears are a type of Collectible hidden around the game world. There are 9 in total (1 per planet). All of them are required for the trophy.
See the location guide below: » Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart – All CraiggerBear Locations |
||
Extinction Event Kill Five Grunthors |
||
*MISSABLE* – This is technically missable, but you’d really have to go out of your way and intentionally run past all Grunthors to miss it (in other words: don’t really worry about it, there’s a 99% chance you get this automatically without even trying). The reason it’s missable is that you don’t necessarily have to kill 5 Grunthors for story purposes (also, the Grunthor boss from 5th Battleplex Bronze Challenge doesn’t count). Then after the story in free roam there aren’t enough of them left and they also stop respawning after the story. Just always kill the Grunthors when you see them (big dinosaurs, very easy to spot). Grunthors are big dinosaurs, exclusively found on Planet 2: Sargasso. There are more than 5 of them and their spawns will change at certain story progress. During your first visit to the planet they will have different locations than during your 2nd story visit (you go back there after finishing the first 7 planets). There are also extra spawns during this planet’s side quest (collecting Zurpstones for Trudi) and the spawns change again after the story. Here’s what a Grunthor looks like: Grunthor #1 – Available during your 1st visit to this planet (no longer there after the story). This one is optional and could be missed. If you want to make it really easy you can farm the same one here 5 times. Kill it, then jump in the swamp water to kill yourself, then you respawn and the Grunthor is back. Repeat until trophy pops. Grunthor #2 – Available during your 1st visit to this planet (unmissable, it’s a mandatory story objective to kill this one). Grunthor #3 – Available during your 1st visit to this planet (unmissable, after repairing the bridge you will encounter this one automatically). Grunthor #4 – Available only during Side Quest “Help Trudi”, when you have to collect Zurpstones. This Side Quest becomes available after finishing Planet 3: Scarstu Debris Field. Then you can return to the 2nd planet at any time to accept the side quest (still possible after the story). The Grunthor spawns near a bunch of Zurpstones. This one is optional and missable, doesn’t respawn and could be missed if you don’t kill it. Grunthor #5 – After finishing the first 7 planets the story makes you return to the pub on Planet 3: Scarstu Debris Field. After this the story brings you back to Planet 2: Sargasso. This changes the Grunthor spawns. This is one of the new ones. You can get it either during your 2nd visit or any time thereafter (still there after the story but doesn’t respawn once killed). There are some additional spawns, a Grunthor also spawns on your 2nd story visit where #1 was. Do keep in mind that the skeleton Grunthor from the 5th Bronze Battleplex Challenge “A Grunthor Named Sue” doesn’t count (so you can’t farm that one unfortunately). The trophy progress does carry over into Challenge Mode (New Game+) so if you did miss the trophy you can kill the first few there again and it should pop. |
||
Just Stay Down Defeat 30 Ejected Nefarious Trooper Heads |
||
This should unlock naturally over the course of the story, most likely at some point during the last (9th) planet Viceron. You have to defeat plenty of Troopers as part of the story and sometimes they eject their head which keeps attacking you.
This is what a Trooper looks like BEFORE ejecting its head: This is what the head looks like AFTER being ejected: Defeat a total of 30 of these. It only counts after you destroy a normal Trooper and then its ejected head. It doesn’t count the Trooper Heads that spawn as is (without ejecting from the bigger enemy first). Unfortunately, there is no trophy tracker for this and no way to know how many you got. If you still don’t have the trophy after the story, you can farm more kills by replaying the Battleplex Silver Challenge “Ka-boomstick Blast (Defeat Four Waves of Enemies using the Warmonger)” which spawns many of these enemies. Try attacking their lower bodies. |
||
Must Go Faster Do a Trick Jump While Going at Max Speed with the Hoverboots |
||
You get the Hoverboots automatically from story progression. They are found on the 4th Planet “Savali”, can’t miss them. After the story forces you to pick them up they will automatically be equipped. You must now hold to use the Hoverboots and repeatedly press to speed up. Once you’re at full speed (air stream around you), press to jump and again to do an airflip. This should happen through natural gameplay without even trying. |
||
Planning Some Destruction Collect a Spybot |
||
See trophy “Aim to Misbehave” below.
Aim to Misbehave Acquire the RYNO |
||
The RYNO weapon is a reward for finding all 10 Spybots. These are a type of Collectible. Each Spybot gives you a part of the blueprint for the RYNO weapon. After you found all 10 Spybots you can buy the RYNO from the Ms. Zurkon weapon vendor for free on any planet.
See the location guide below: » Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart – All Spybot Locations |
||
Feeding Friendsy Collect 10 Zurpstones for Trudi |
||
This is unlocked from completing the side quest “Help Trudi (Optional)” in Sargasso (2nd planet). That’s the planet where you play as Rivet for the first time. The side quest only unlocks after completing the 3rd planet “Scarstu Debris Field”. It’s not available on the first visit! After the 3rd planet you can return here with your spaceship and the side quest marker will be on the map automatically. This is where the quest starts: All you need to do is collect 15 Zurpstones from purple flowers in the side quest area. Then return to the quest giver and the trophy will unlock. |
||
Sweet, Sweet Victory Collect Honey for Chef Tulio |
||
This is unlocked from completing the side quest “Find the Missing Chef (Optional)” in Blizar Prime (5th planet). You will find Chef Tulio as part of this side quest. Then she wants you to defend her honey machine from enemies. Defeat all waves of enemies and return to Chef Tulio to get the trophy. This is where the quest starts: |
||
Might’ve Broken Something Collect Three Lorbs |
||
Lorbs can be found only on the 4th planet “Savali”. They are located at Lombax shrines throughout this planet. Just picking up 3 isn’t enough to make the trophy unlock. You must also accept the side quest called “Hunt for Lombax Lore (Optional)”. This is also found on Savali and is marked on the map (in the middle of Savali). If you already found 3 Lorbs beforehand, the trophy will pop as soon as you talk to the quest giver.
» Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart – All Lorb Locations |
Changelog:
- Patch v1.001.002 makes “Shifty Character” pop with only 29 of 30 Blizon Crystals (before this all 30 were needed).
PowerPyx says
Guide is all done, enjoy!
A fun trophy hunt awaits 🙂
Last major game release before the summer break.
Arkonite says
Many thanks for this new, detailed and complete guide 🙂
Right in time, as always ?
Irwynn says
Uhh, literally 10 hours?
PowerPyx says
It’s normal length for R&C games, they’ve never been known for their length.
Probably even a bit quicker for many players, but 10h will be the solid average.
Story took me 5h20min on normal difficulty including all Cutscenes (see full Video Walkthrough on my channel). But that was captured on my 2nd run so I already knew where to go. You can expect the story to last around 7h plus another 2-3h playtime for the side stuff and trophy-related collectibles.
It could technically be done much faster if you were to skip cutscenes and puzzles, but that’s not how most people will play it (maybe 7h if you speed through it like that).
Thomas Falcon says
For the 2 missable crystals they are both on the grind section but different sides, are you meant to get one then die to get the other? also do crystals save as soon as you get them or do you need to reach a checkpoint
PowerPyx says
You can get them both during the same grind (just jump over to the other rail), no need to die in between.
They also save as soon as you get them.
PhantomFear94 says
Very excited for this game…very, looks awesome. But £70 for a 10 hour platinum (quicker if you don’t watch cut scenes?) That’s a difficult pill to swallow.
Julez says
Just get the retail version. played over the weekend and sell it on monday/tuesday for 60 bucks. Easy as that and you played a brand new PS5 exclusive for like 10. So I think its awesome.
Alan says
Only 10 hours, that is quite disappointing, was hoping for at least 30hrs.
PowerPyx says
It’s normal for most singleplayer non-RPG games. Platinum is just that quick because trophies don’t require a full Challenge Mode playthrough or all Collectibles.
If you go for ALL Collectibles (100% completion) & do a full Challenge Mode playthrough & play on highest difficulty for fun, you could probably get 20h out of it (just the plat won’t take you that long).
10h or less is pretty standard for R&C stories. Imo they should’ve made a trophy for beating Challenge mode though, it’s quite fun to replay with higher-level weapons and tougher enemies.
Dan says
Really disappointed with the length of this platinum as others have pointed out. 7 hours to complete story kinda sucks. That means your paying £10 an hour for the privilege. A few extra hours for mop up. I too was hoping for something longer given the price point.
Props for the guide good as always.
Anonymous says
Thank you for the trophy guide. 10 hours? I’ve heard it can take 15-20 hours for a first playthrough but either way, £69.99 for this is crazy regardless of the quality. I’m not asking for a 50 hour or 100 hour game from Ratchet & Clank, however Sony’s price increase from £49.99 to £69.99 doesn’t help this game. I’ll keep it on my wish list to buy at a reasonable price if/when I buy a PS5 (which won’t be anytime soon considering Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and God of War “Ragnarok” will be on PS4). Also, please create a trophy guide for Scarlet Nexus as I’m interested in the game but want to wait for reviews and trophy guides to see if it’s for me.
PowerPyx says
Scarlet Nexus guide is coming 🙂
Anonymous says
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Andre says
“Shifty character” is not missable, you can get it as well, just by climbing up the elevator ?
Thanks for the guide!
PowerPyx says
How / from where do you climb back up? It won’t let me get up there again, elevator is closed when I try to visit it after leaving the planet. Also couldn’t interact with the crank again that activated the elevator in the story.
Had 2 other people check and they can’t figure it out either. I also tried climbing up the elevator in the purple dimension (by hitting the blizon crystal near it) but wall-jumps don’t work there. In the “repaired” dimension it’s completely closed off. So as far as I can tell there’s no way back once you’ve passed the rail grind section.
Noah says
This is a clear example of Developers continuing to lower the bar for platinums. It started with most not having a difficulty trophy and now they dont even make you get all collectibles or even experience all the game has to offer i.e challenge mode etc. I understand why from a business perspective as they will sell more with a easy platinum but it sucks as a trophy hunter.
Pyrex says
I don’t think this is the reason why. The majority of players don’t buy games to just platinum – especially with how dry PS5 exclusives are right now.
I believe that developers are going this route because a LOT of games can bug out if one single item doesn’t properly count for the trophy. When you follow these guides, there are usually plenty of warnings to make backup saves in case something doesn’t count.
Some recent examples include: Returnal, Valhalla, Ghost of Tsushima, even the PS5 Demon Souls.
I’ve seen players who have a bug for their Returnal save file. They’d have to start all over and re-play dozens of hours just to get a trophy. Don’t even get me started on Valhalla lol
Justin Doty says
to the guy below… DRY exclusives? couldnt beat returnal huh?
Flip says
I think by “how dry PS5 exclusives are right now” he meant there is a lack of them, considering there is the 3rd now that is solely only on the ps5. I don’t think he was saying the games were bad.
PhantomFear94 says
Firstly, I fully expect a NG+ / difficulty patch for this game. Insomniac did it for Spider-Man, it’s a common PS exclusive thing.
Secondly, I fundamentally disagree with the developer getting flak for the easy lists, as by and large, this is a Sony thing. I’m seeing this a lot. As PowerPyx has stated before (check Ghost of Tsushima – Trophy List Reveal article, comments section) no Sony Exclusive will ever have difficulty trophies in the base list moving forward, as they require first party developers to adhere to this rule. This has been the case since 2018. It’s an internal policy to not have difficulty trophies anymore, but DLC/NG+ patches are allowed to include them as an optional challenge (i.e. so long as the Platinum is unaffected). PowerPyx said he has heard this is to boost sales, and I personally believe it is also to support their accessibility ethos.
The ethics of that are up for debate but I personally don’t have an issue with it. Sony are geared towards accessibility in every form in many of its titles, from skill-set to disability, so having ultra-hard trophies in the base list is counter-intuitive to that goal in my opinion. From a pure gameplay standpoint, most Sony games have very easy easiest difficulty settings, and pretty challenging on hard difficulty options (although even some of the hard difficulty settings are too bad, I’d argue) so I feel there is a range there. Also, games like Returnal and Demon’s Souls are by their very nature pretty difficult, so even with Sony exclusives there are some challenging platinum’s. Most Sony exclusives have NG+ hard difficulty patches for developers who want to give some incentive for challenge outside of this internal policy.
Finally, I’m doing an 100% run of this game myself to get as much as I can out of the game, and its barely adding any time on, so whether people feel it should or shouldn’t require 100% completion, from a pragmatic point of view, it isn’t going to vary your mileage very much anyway. I’m at 9-10 hours, and I have everything physically possible up until the return visit to Sargasso, and enough bolts for all remaining weapons as and when I unlock them (I haven’t skipped a single cutscene and even AFK’d for a short while).
Speaking for myself, my main issue is the price vs. amount of content. This game is incredible, but as I said on the list reveal, £70 for 15 hours of content is pretty difficult to argue in my opinion. I appreciate quality > quantity, and that there is a lot of next-gen stuff going on, but I don’t think its enough to warrant that sort of return for the price, and its pretty ridiculous in AAA terms. Over-paying for an amazing indie is one thing, where a small team with limited resources have had to grind away, but AAA studios don’t need that sort of premium cash return and I hate Sony’s approach in this regard. Even as a trophy hunter, 100% completion requirements wouldn’t fix that as an issue.
PhantomFear94 says
Also, I fully agree with Pyrex. So many multi-dozen hour games requiring you to get every collectible – some missable – that bug out after weeks of time grinding away at them, with their list showing many notable examples. I would much prefer the 100% being an optional bonus for personal satisfaction and/or in-game benefits, than being arbitrary tick-boxes that can bug out and ruin your platinum at any moment. Collectibles aren’t really skill-related in most games, either.
Wesker says
Sorry for the late reply I have yet to play this new great addition to R&C but I agree with the other users as I experienced a glitch in the 2016 remake of R&C on my 2nd run near the hooverboard arena fired off the RYNO and for some reason it glitched out I couldn’t get in and speak with the CEO so contacted Insomniac who kindly replied but almost didn’t plat it after that but because I enjoyed it I started it all from the beginning so I can understand while some people enjoy a challenge while trophy hunting others would prefer it to be left as standalone DLC instead of a risk of glitch occurring
Mark Emmanuel Brown says
The length is a bit of a factor in me not preordering this game. I know its standard for ratchet games but I think I’ll wait on this one. It looks amazing and I can’t wait to play it. Thanks for the guide.
HusKy says
Shifty Character is no longer missable. It unlocks at 29/29. I haven’t collected the last crystal on planet #7 (next to golden bolt) and got the trophy.
HusKy says
It’s Crystal #25 in the guide which I have not collected.
PowerPyx says
Thanks for reporting. What game version / patch version were you on?
Something fishy is going on with that trophy. I definitely needed all 30 and so did all other players I talked to, but that was on the previous patch version v1.001.001.
The trophy tracker for it also seems broken in multiple ways (wrong number on tracker and it doesn’t update correctly after some blizons).
Could be that the patch v1.001.002 made it so only 29/30 are required now. Additional confirmation is needed on this. Could either be a lucky bug that it unlocked early only for you, or they changed it to require only 29/30 blizons with today’s patch.
If anyone else here gets it after 29/30 blizons please leave a comment.
HusKy says
I believe I was running on v1.001.002 from the beginning but I’m not 100% sure. The counter worked correctly for me as well — every crystal added +1.
HusKy says
FWIW, I noticed only one weird thing – the very last crystal on the rail, which is required to reach the platform, did *not* appear on my map. I had 23/29 after planet #5 but only 22 visible on the planet map. Collected 6 more (story related) on planet #7 and it popped.
Luay says
Hey Pyx,
Regarding the “extinction event” trophy. I have managed to get it done at the first optional Dino spawn. I turned the difficulty to the easiest.I killed the Dino then killed myself in the swamp. You spawn back with all your ammo and resources, and the Dino respawns. I did it 5 times and got the trophy.
P.S. you can farm raratrium like this also
PowerPyx says
Thank you, good tip! Added it in 🙂
Bearwolf says
Grunthors carry over to NG+/challenge mode!
I got my achievement after killing my first grunthor second playthrough.
Fallendogtags says
Any one having issues with the extinction event trophy? I have killed six of the Grunthors and the trophy hasn’t popped!
PowerPyx says
I had to kill 7 total. It’s a bit weird, I killed #2 first before repairing the dimensional rift with Clank. Then afterward #2 respawned and I defeated it again. Then there was another Grunthor during 2nd story visit to Sargasso (after 7th planet) but that one was either killed by enemies or didn’t count.
Just try to kill a few more, the 5 in the guide should count for sure. Some of the others don’t count for some reason. The skeleton grunthor boss from story also doesn’t count.
Worst case, you should be able to get it in Challenge Mode.
omakez says
My unlock on 29/30 today!
Thedarkranger06 says
The “extinction event” trophy can be farmed via restarting checkpoint, I just did it out of luck when I got stuck on a platform so I restarted the checkpoint and saw one that 8 defeated just laying there and I killed it again and the trophy popped.
PowerPyx says
Currently investigating some changes that v1.001.002 patch caused today.
For “Shifty Character” it seems only 29 of 30 Blizon Crystals are required after the patch.
Before all 30 were required to actually pop the trophy (was likely an oversight by the devs).
This means the trophy might no longer be missable because you have to get one of the two missable Crystals to advance the story and you can go back to the other 28, thus you always end up with 29 of 30.
I have someone test this for me currently by intentionally missing either Blizon #20 or #21 to see if the trophy can still be earned (before it definitely couldn’t still be earned). Added a note to the guide in the meantime.
Pyrex says
Now I have something to do over the weekend, thank you!
falsaai says
Just wanted to thank you for your hard work! I’m starting this game today 🙂
Charlie says
I actually got Alert The Sponsors during the prologue. I did 5 quick double jumps on one of the rails. There was just enough rail to do it.
Tomasz Czapla says
I have problem wich trophy RETURN POLICY
Drakoulos says
Same, tried everything following this and other guides, but it won’t unlock for me. I got the weapon on max level and even tried on New Game+ but nothing seems to work. Probably glitched for me?
Cocka says
Stand further, make sure the shield is purple. Can amke the difficulty higher.
Its kinda glitchy but it unlocks.
Got the plat today, this trophy is the trickiest of them all.
Alex says
Can side quests be done after the story?
PowerPyx says
Yes
Dantiscus says
Whenever i reached the 2nd planet for the Extinction trophy, i did the 4th monster one after accepting the side quest by using the bug , do a rodeo and reaching it out, killing it, then go back and do the quest without dying (So it saves).
Once done i explored with the dragon after collecting more fruits and returned for the 1st monster ‘s location, and surprise, killing it again granted me the trophy. Just in case someone tries it too
Senorbang says
I had the Pixilizer gun from the start. So you don’t have to buy it during 2nd playthrough.
PowerPyx says
– Updated the guide to reflect the changes made to “Shifty Character” trophy by Patch v1.001.002 (now only requires 29 of 30 Blizon Crystals). Therefore, missing one of the optional ones on the Planet 5 Rail Grind doesn’t impact the trophy anymore.
Jeff says
During my first visit, somehow a 2nd grunthor spawned where the first was. I don’t know what I did to trigger it. I was exploring all over the area with speetles and died a lot in the swamp acid. I went through rifts a lot as well and went all over the map. I know it counted because when I came and killed #4 during the Trudi sidequest, I got the trophy for killing 5.
Also, I am in the final part of the Trudi sidequest and I see the grunthor at the #5 location picture fighting with the goons-4-less. So it might spawn a little early and can be fought on the 2nd visit to the planet right after you get the ranger boots
Joshua says
I’m having an issue getting those mobs for the Just Stay Down trophy to pop. Went to the area where the 2 are on the last planet, I kill them, but their heads never pop off. I reset by jumping off so I have lots of attempts on different difficulties and weapons.
Joshua says
I’ve literally killed over 100 of the mobs for Just Stay Down now. In the last mission, the one where you go back through the dimension after you talk to the alt-quark, there’s a dozen of them that spawn. I kill them in a plethora of ways on any difficulty, jump off and repeat. Nothing. Again, I’m not even saying the trophy won’t pop; rather, I’m saying I can’t even get their heads to fall off so I can even get credit towards the trophy. That’s 100+ kills with zero heads falling off to finish off. It must be a glitch.
RoleplayingPuji says
I got this today, and I got it in the silver cup colosseum challenge called “Survive Waves with Warmonger”. Just target their bodies for less damage imo, and farm that for any remainder head kills (unless repeat entries don’t count for kills)
Joshua says
Thanks RoleplayingPuji, this works! Enemies were dropping their heads off here, and it is a very easy place to farm. Hopefully the powerpyx guide is updated to recommend this spot as opposed to the last planet.
PowerPyx says
Added it in, thanks guys! =)
Jeff says
I think I just got screwed with “Return Policy”. I have it fully upgrade and it feels the blast is so large that I can’t kill anyone with the actual returned bullets instead of the blast being shot. Really don’t want to have to do a second playthrough after this to do it. That would really suck
Jeff says
Okay, nevermind. Luckily the shots returned travel quite far so when I took extra space that was waaaay back, the bullets would still reach even when the blast stopped short.
PowerPyx says
Yeah upgrading the weapon is not a good idea for trophy purposes. But you can still get it of course, just gotta keep your distance. I’ll add a note.
Drew says
I cannot for the life of me get the Return Policy Trophy. I have completed 10-15 rounds of the first bronze level arena doing exactly as the trophy guide says and it still hasn’t popped?? has anyone else had this problem. It’s the last trophy I need.
Aditya says
For Return Policy, the better challenge would be pest control. Much easier to repeat and weaker enemies in a large number. So harder to miss
Aero_X_999 says
Thanks for this awesome guide! This one marks my 53rd platinum!
John Brant says
Is challenge mode bugged? Serious question I beat game done literally everything just need to get the last 2 weapons, one of which was already given to me as a pre order the pixelizer, well when I start challenge mode all I start with is that gun and I can’t progress in the prologue it won’t destroy the wall that blocks me from the next area in the parade. Wtf is going on I’m just trying to get my platinum already.
anasterion says
I also was confused there and restarted game like 3-4 times. You need to throw your hammer (L2 + sqaure button) in order to break it and then you can proceed.
Lifthrasil says
For Return Policy you can use the Infinite Ammo cheat from the golden bolts to not have to worry about Ammo. Used it and it still popped.
David slade says
This made it a LOT less annoying!
Charles says
I just found a spot where the was a pirate enemy firing a gun, then farmed that using checkpoint restart until I got the Trophy.
4ipuxa says
much more enjoyable game than Biomutant, also shorter by far and plat easier for trophy hunters.
its like youre playing an Animation film like Despicable me, the colors in the game is really nice and enjoyable.
Deefur Dog says
**FULLY LOADED ISSUE/GLITCH**
Great guide as always, however, I had an issue with the last weapon ‘Bouncer’.
After I started a NG+, I got to the first vendor and only 4 weapons were available. I restarted NG+ two more times with no more luck.
After thinking about it, the last save point on my OG save was with Rivet right before the final battle in the bar, as I didn’t leave this bar as I had done everything else prior to the final battle, maybe the NG+ didn’t work as it couldn’t transfer over properly whilst I was Rivet.
To combat this I went to a planet as Ratchet, saved and quit, then started a NG+, sure enough as soon as the new game plus started, I was ratchet in custom gear with all my weapons. When I got to the vendor I could buy the Bouncer, and there was my platinum.
PowerPyx says
Thanks for sharing, that’s a good find!
Brandon says
I’m having an issue:
•I preordered the game, so I received “Pixelizer” with the preorder. Even after purchasing two weapons in Challenge Mode, the trophy doesn’t pop. Any ideas?
PowerPyx says
I know people who have the pre-order bonus and got the trophy just fine. It doesn’t lock you out of the trophy. So I’m not sure if this is just some isolated bug in your case or if this is something more widespread, but it’s still obtainable for other players in the same situation.
I can’t think of any workaround though. Maybe restarting Challenge Mode and buying both those weapons again? Double-check that you really got all weapons including the RYNO.
EJB says
I have this issue too. Bought the Omega version of Pixelizer and it didn’t work for me. Don’t wanna have to buy every Omega version right now, but looks like I may have to do that.
d says
Hey Pyx,
Do you think it would be worth adding a warning for the “Glitch, Uh, Finds a Way” trophy? There’s an “issue” where you can finish the trophy faster because there’s a chance the game allows you to do the 4th and 5th challenge back to back from the same console but it locks you out from the collectible of the 5th challenge location. This doesn’t really hinder trophy progress but maybe some kind of hint to reload an older save?
There’s a comment chain in the “Glitch Challenges” guide.
PowerPyx says
Since it doesn’t impact any trophies, it’s not really relevant here imo and will probably be fixed soon enough. I’ve already forwarded the issue to the developers.
Matt says
2 Fuzz 2 Nefarious seems to have glitches for me. I’ve finished the game but it hasn’t popped ? any ideas?
J'cie Foukahz says
Just a heads up, it looks the final story trophy, 2 Fuzz 2 Nefarious, can glitch out. I didn’t get it the first time I beat the Final Boss so I just reloaded my save in-game to the start of the Final Boss fight (turned on infinite ammo and health to just melt my way through it again) and it popped the second time. Been lurking around and looks like its been happening to quite a few people
Sven says
Hey, i can’t get the last Gold Bolt on Savali. And yes, this is my second (Story) Visit to this Planet. I can’t send Glitch into that thing. It is not trophy relevant, but still annoying. Any Solutions? I get the trophy for “Complete alle Glich Missions” already.
PowerPyx says
It’s a known bug. Nothing you can do about it. Only way would be to do it in Challenge Mode, but that requires another full playthrough.
Sven says
Oh just saw, that this is a known Problem. Hooe they fix it soon. 🙂
AJ says
I can’t find any other reports of it anywhere, but the CraiggerBear trophy (UnBEARably Awesome) seems to have bugged for me. I’ve double checked every location but I’m stuck at 8/9.
Justin says
I thought the same too, but I had to pick up the one in the bar (where the arena is located) twice.
I know I picked it up when I first got to the area, then I noticed it said 8/9 and started searching from #1 onward.
Justin says
Extinction Event seems bugged for me. I know I killed at least 3 on my first visit, then I returned (before the story mode made me) and another grunthor spawned, but I couldn’t find any others.
Then when I got back there via the story I killed another one, but it had been damaged already by enemies and I saw another just get wiped out by enemies.
I am now flying over the entire map and can’t find any more Grunthors. They aren’t hard to miss and I know I’ve killed at least 4 of them so there should be one more laying around. I even tried going to a different planet, returning and searching on foot in case flying doesn’t allow them to spawn.
PowerPyx says
Try farming the first Grunthor 5 times in Challenge Mode. I heard of someone else having the same issue as you and that fixed it for them.
PhantomFear94 says
I got mine killing the same 1 5 times during checkpoint reload, so that’s what I’d recommend.
BodyChipper says
I’m stuck at 58/60 zurpstones and none are showing up on the map. I flew back to the locations that had a cluster or pair of the stones and didn’t see anything as I’ve heard sometime you might get one of the group and it takes it off the map. Any ieas?
BodyChipper says
nm, I just saw your note on the collectible page about the initial area. I didn’t look there bc I thought they would have been mandatory already.
Puma says
Been reading everything everyone has been posting for “Extinction Event” and it seems to be bugged for me.
I tried the checkpoint reload, dying in the swamp, making a new game, deleting save file and starting over and it seems to not want to pop.
Not sure what could have caused this issue to not count any of my kills for the grunthors.
dodiul says
just acquired the platinum trophy in just 1 playthrough! thanks for the tips, it really helps!
wondering if there will be DLC in the future where Ratchet finally lands on his home planet.
Kingsworth says
Don’t let the ’10 hours’ put you off. It’s WAY more than that, sure it’s probably possible if you massively rush through. I’ve just completed the story at about 15 hours, got maybe a couple of hours left to mop up the last trophies. I collected a fair amount whilst I was playing through.
Chris Radford says
I’ve completed the game and i’m just following your blizon crystal video guide and i’m on 18/30. I can’t access the elevator. I read that i need to unclog the tube. But i’ve no idea how to. I can’t interact with the crank in front of the tube. Can you help
Please 🙂
PowerPyx says
See this video for using the elevator after story.
Chris Radford says
I’ve already tried that. It doesn’t work unfortunately. It must have been patched. There is an invisible wall there.
Jas says
Blizcon trophy is now misable and guide needs updating. Went through the game thinking there was only one missable trophy
PowerPyx says
You only need 29/30 Blizon Crystals, hence it is not missable. Missing Blizon #20 on the railing (end of Blizar Prime) doesn’t void it, because you are allowed to miss 1 Crystal for trophy purposes. None of the other 29 crystals are missable, so you can always get enough for the trophy (but there have been reports from older patches that some automatic story-related ones bug out / didn’t register correctly).
David says
Another platinum for my collection. I must be really slow gamer though according to playstation wrap for 2021 i somehow have over 50 hours on this game.
