Rage 2 Spy Drone Locations

Rage 2 requires you to find 30 Spy Drone Locations for the Mata Hari Manners trophy or achievement. They are black flying robots that you can find attached to walls or structures in locations around the open world. They make a loud buzzing sound when you get near them, and when you point your gun at them they try to fly away to a different location. Shooting them gives you an intel log and some XP toward the Search & Recover Project level.

A note about locations, each drone can spawn in 1 of 3 potential spots, and the starting location for the drone is picked randomly between the three when you start a playthrough. Because of this the following list is of all currently known possible drone spawns, so in your game you may find ones not in these locations or may go to these locations and not find a drone. It’s recommended that you always make sure to be on the lookout while clearing locations not listed, and pay attention for the buzzing the drones make when you are near them. There is also an upgrade in Tier 3 the Search & Recover Project that shows you a proximity-based radar when you are near a drone, that you can use in conjunction with the noise they give off.

Drones can spawn in any location type except Feltrite Meteorites and Authority Sentrysand they will always be spawned above ground and on building exteriors. This means you won’t find any inside Crusher or Mutant dens, but they can spawn around the entrance to these locations. They won’t spawn inside of any buildings, but they can be in locations where they are under a roof but with open walls.

Locations are listed with the Location Type and Name, followed by a short description of their location, along with a screenshot pointing them out and the spot on the map of the location.

Attention: Below are 97 potential drone spawns (with potential for there to still be some missing). If you find a location not yet listed, please leave a map screenshot + image of the drone in the comments below and you’ll be credited for your find (can upload the image through imgur.com and post the link or send it to @PowerPyx on Twitter). Since the initial spawns between the possible locations are RANDOM in everyone’s game we need the help of the community to fill in the rest.

Twisting Canyons Region

Bandit Den – Gazcatraz – Midway through the area, on a wall just behind the long pipe that goes above most of the area

Bandit Den – Doomsayer Peak – The backside of the main building if you come from the main road, there is a back and forth stairway that goes up the inside of the building. Just above the door on the ground floor is the drone.

Exploration Location – Checkpoint Bridge – Starting from the top by the bridge, the drone is on the flat structure that the higher up zipline leads to, careful looking in that direction so it doesn’t run away early.

Broken Tract Region

Bandit Den – Shrouded Outpost – Up the stairs and in the underside of the covered part of the walkway

Bandit Den – Underpass – On a pillar on the top floor, left of the zipline

Exploration Location – Alex’s Workshop – Just north of Bridge Block Road Choker, up elevator to this location then immediately left

Bandit Den – The Edge – Back wall of the main building you go through to get to the cliff side.

Pit Stop – Fresh Juice Stop – Underneath the lip of the gas station roof structure

Bandit Den – Goon Bridge – Head up the first flight of stairs to the long walkway where it splits going forward and to the right, turn around and the drone is on the wall just above the walkway.

Bandit Den – Razorneck Roost – On the south side of the large building, on the end of the metal structure high up the wall

The Wilds Region

Ark – Greenhaven Ark – Facing away from the Ark door, on the right side of a pillar to the right of the entrance to the area

Bandit Den – Twin Falls – Going between the two building on the main path, the drone is on the arch directly above you that you walk through to continue forward

Road Choker – Jungle Block – On the back of the small hut that is attached to the middle walkway that goes over the road.

Pit Stop – Wet Fuse – Drone is on the exposed metal structure of the front of the left building if approached from where the gas station roof structure is located

Bandit Den – Rash River – Right around the middle of the of the camp there is a river, on the south side of the river facing forth there is a drone on the corner of a building, up and to the right of the right Boar sign

  1. Thank you, very nice work. It would be very useful if you could add the number of the drones (spy drone #0001) to track them down. I am actually missing five of those and I’ve cleared most of the locations in the game. Hence, by seeing numbers we could relate on which spy drones we already have and don’t.

    every drone can spawn in three or two Locations an they flee to these Points. The most Drones have 3 Points. Some others use 2 Points. The Place they are always the same. i make a Guide currently for all these spots.

  3. Found one in Greenhaven Lookout (Ranger Echo location) in The Wilds. Once you get to the top near the small building that the ranger is located, it is on the wall to the west of this building.

  7. i missed a few. i think 4 or so flew away but when i was huntung down crushers, i found 1 at
    #1 Crusher Nest Filth Hollow – Sekrito Wetlands
    outside the entrance, look above and theres a branch hanging across. one was on there.
    #2 Crusher Nest The Pain Drain – Torn Plains

    as they’re all randomized, these may or may not be there for.some. I found them here AFTER a few flew away.

  8. Thanks for this. I found a drone at 12/33 location provided, so its helped make a dent. I found another 4, making my current total 16. For 3 of them, I made a screenshot so I’ll send them later on today.

  9. I have one issue. Drones always fly off when enemies shooting at you afar or nearby which is bullshit. Plus I am deaf and can’t hear. It is problem. 🙁 🙁

    • They won’t fly away unless you aim basically directly at them, so try not to be aiming too high up on walls or anything while clearing locations. That’s rough if you can’t hear though, just have to get by using the radar upgrade. :/

    • The sound is very helpful, but if you’re deaf don’t worry too much as the sensor is pretty good too. I strongly advise you only get the spy drone, datapad, and storage container sensors (you have to get the last 2 to unlock the spy drone one, unfortunately). When clearing an area, get all the storage containers and/or data pad with your sensors. If there is still a signal, its a drone.

    • Not just aiming, if you’re running arond and ground slam for example abd it hits the drone it will fly off, caught a couple in cross fire but luckily either caught them flying off and reloaded save/shot them

  10. I found one at Dealypipe ARK in sekreto wetlands. But unfortunately forgot to take a screenshot. It was on the left tower with wire running left of the ark if you are facing its door. Hope i can help even though i forgot pics.

    I had 20 drones and I started again a new game and I had 5 and the trophy was unlocked so the statistics are kept between games.

  13. I would definitely need this confirmed by someone else as some of these trophies have been glitchy, but this trophy popped for me when I was farming an outpost for goon kills. The outpost had a spy drone which I shot whilst killing goons then died to reset the outpost. After doing this three times the spy drone trophy popped (I also only has 27 spy drone intel) which siggests you could kill the same drone multiple times. But like I say would need it vonfirmed by someone else.

    • I wondered this while playing, might log into the sisters account and try farming the trophy ?

    • I dont believe that’s how it works…. I sat and farmed 30 drones at one of the bandit camps and it didnt pop for me, but I could be wrong but it didnt work for me

    • So even though the description says “Destroy drones” this is inaccurate many of of us have farmed 20+ at one location.I currently have 51 dron kills (Stat screen) but only 25 logs,the trophy is for 30 logs not kills like description says.So i believe you have to kill 30 different drones for the trophy.They cooulld have done this better lol.I hate widget trophies.I cant be the only one who gets tired of farming widgets after 3+Playthroughs to gett the difficulty trophies many games have lol.

  15. There seem to be way more places. I double checked all in this guide and got only 19 Drones. It is really an annoying Trophy

    • We’re still gathering more locations, it’s currently unclear how many there are in total but it’s well over 60. It’s a weird type of collectible, they just should’ve made these fixed, not random. While we’re still looking for them, the best option is to explore all locations 100% and check for the drones. If you find a new one post your location so we can compile it and save everyone some time 🙂

  17. Mot sure if this will help but I only had to get the storage container locator to be able to get the spy drone locator. This means you don’t have to get both data pad and storage locators. If this is true then just purchasing the data pad one and spy drone one would be advisable. There are far fewer data pads than storage containers. This would be a great help tor someone starting out on the game.

  18. I can confirm that you can start a new game and any drones you destroy will add to your total. Similar to killing another crusher if that trophy glitched on you. I was missing 1 drone for the trophy and went into a new game and destroyed one and trophy popped. Your stats carry over so instead of searching the whole map when your missing 1 or 2 it’s much easier to start a new game so they all respawn.

    • I only got 5 on my first run through. I started a new game and only got 7.
      So can I start a new one if I need to and get them over 3-4 new games?

    • Thanks, that’s good to know. Stuck at 25 drones and visited every area twice, so I guess I have a bug. I hope starting a new game helps…

  25. I’ve got 25 logs and I’ve checked all locations listed here 3 times and found nothing.

    Really really hate this trophy lol.

    When you update please put a date so us watching this page will know which locations are new. Is there any other places marking locations?

  30. I found a drone in the far west corner of The Wilds region near the Authority Headquarters. The location was Ranger Echo Remnant. The drone was on the pipe that goes across the pool of water at the bottom of the basin.

  31. I just got the trophy on my second playthrough. On my first one i found 18 and the trophy popped as soon i got 12 on my second playthrough. The intel does not have to be unique either since i got the same intel on my second playthrough on most of the drones.

  33. I was stuck on 26 in my main game so started a new game and have found 7 more but still no trophy. Seen multiple reports that stats carry over but well I guess not if you’re unlucky. Can the Drone Intel tracking number be off, has anyone found that? Not in the Statistics page (I can’t even get to that) but in the Info tab across the top menus.

  37. This trophy is definitely buggy. It just popped for me at 29, and I never started any other playthroughs.

    • To add to this.

      If you want to retain an accurate count through Intel make sure you make a manual save after triggering any checkpoint autosave once you destroy whichever drone you find. Do not fast travel at all until you hit a checkpoint AND manual save. It seems the auto saves in this are finicky when it comes to drones. If you fast travel, even after triggering another auto save, it may erase the log entry for that drone and lower the count.

      It still seems to count the drone towards the trophy, but you won’t be able to find that drone or get the log entry if you don’t manual save before fast traveling. Trophy popped at 29 for me, and I’m sure this is what happened. Was just able to repeat it after testing it again.

    • dont use the Track of the LOG. This Tracking dont work corrctly ive got the Trophy on my LOG state with 28 Drones. I destroy 30 to become the trophy. Some drone logs are double or will be not tracked.

    • Except that I know for a fact all of my drones were unique at that point. I’ve been really meticulously tracking them because of how random they are and my OCD had me wanting to find l of the logs. And my log said 29 right before fast travel, then once the screen loaded AFTER fast travel it said 28. I went back to the autosave triggered at that location and the one I destroyed for #29 was gone. Reloaded my manual save from right before that and killed it for #29, same log number that popped up the first time (006), one I did not have before. Ran out of the area far enough to trigger an autosave, then back in to trigger the checkpoint autosave. Then manually saved and fast traveled. All 29 were still listed, including the log number that popped up.

      The whole system for these drones is just messed up. They shouldn’t have made everything so random with them. Hopefully they patch them so there isn’t so many questions with them.

  38. Torn Plains – Prime Town

    Found this one next to the mutant tree thing with all the eggs on it at the back of the area and its next to containers/under the platform with the pink ladder. Hope this helps, I’m rubbish at describing things xD

    • As far as I found myself and what I gathered from other people posting the intel you get is random, so you can’t use that to know which one’s you’ve found.

  40. Log numbers are randomized at game start and save load, so they are useless to compare.
    I thoroughly tested this already by destroying the same drone about 10 times and reloaded the same save in between and got 10 different LOG numbers.
    I also got 4 times the 0006 in the same game, so they aren’t even unique in the same game.

  41. I followed this guide as of the May 27th 2019 update and got the exact amount of drones I needed…. very scary lol. Took quite a few hours to comb through them all, but it’s a great list. Thanks to everyone for helping make this as complete as it can be.

  42. Bandit Den: Waterpump-Torn Plains Region From the main entrance 2 joined buildings on the left of the main tower in the centre of the den. Walk into the first which is engine pump area you will then be able to see a main central beam in the next room. Drone is located on that beam but you’ll have to be quick because you cant see it until you walk through and then itll fly.

    • Can confirm this one. Found it when I was grinding goon deaths.

      Also, I killed this thing a bunch of times and reloaded to get more goon kills. My stats counted killing this Drone each time. I already had the Drone trophy so not sure if it counted towards the trophy but potentially a way to bring drone kills. Would be nice if that works because that trophy sucked.

  43. Intel 006 is bugged. It does not save when you hit a checkpoint and manual save/autosave/ect. This explains why people have reported getting it multiple times. The drone still counts towards the trophy though, which explains the trophy popping early for some.

    It also seems that the drones will spawn infinitely until this is patched. I had drones drop 006 multiple times on this save file and still hit the full 34 drones if I get it last. It just drops back down to 33 when loading the manual save I made after getting it and triggering a checkpoint.

  49. Hey, if i kill 2x Spydrones with the same number in my first and second playthrought. Does it count for one or two kills?

    Thks because i’ve killed 24 spy in my first and 10 spydrones in my second newgame and the trophy don’t come …

  51. Hope some playerd will find some more locations, I checked all locations and only have 27 drones… I’m about to cry.

    Just in theory – while playing and not paying attention to drones I missed a couple because they flew away in battle. Will they spawn again anywhere on the map? I really don’t know how I can just have 27 after double checking als places.

  57. ive been through the locations in the guide and found only a five or six
    havent been through them all yet

    lets say this is the last trophy in the game how should i tackle the problem of the
    remaining drones required for the trophy?

    one of the worst trophies in games.

    • If it’s not at the 97 locations known so far, you have two options:
      1) Go through all areas of the game and keep searching on your own until you find it in a new spot (in that case please send in a screenshot so we can add it to the list for other players)
      2) Uninstall the game, delete the save games. Reinstall the game and start fresh from the beginning. Then you must hope to get lucky that the drones are within the 97 known locations.

      Again, it’s random and there may still be more locations nobody has reported yet. But I think we found probably 95% of potential spawns so it’s a very high chance you’ll get all you need from these 97 spots.

    This trophy is really bad, seems it can be farmed through repeated reload of location but only after the game autosaves, which is hard to verify so do it at your own risk.

    I did a few such reloads, have 29 drones in logs but trophy just popped.

    took a good chunk of time to fly around points and look for annoying drones, was glad no collectibles in a game only to find this annoyance… ah well
