Pokemon Sword & Shield Water Stone Location

November 17, 2019 by PowerPyx 15 Comments

Water Stone is an evolution item in Pokemon Sword & Shield, combining it with certain Pokemon allows them to evolve into water types. This guide shows where to find Water Stone Location in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Water Stone Location:

Water Stone is found in Bridge Field (Wild Area). Advance north in the area until you see a path going left, with some grass and a Raid den by the city walls. Next to the Raid den, you find the Water Stone in a red Pokeball pickup on the floor. It has the same location in both game versions (same for Sword as well as Shield).

Water Stone Location #2:

You can also find a Water Stone on route 2 on the island after you get your bike upgraded to a water bike (thanks to our reader Paul for posting this in the comments).

Water Stone Location #3:

8 different evolution stone types are found in Lake of Outrage (Wild Area). You need the water bike to reach this area. There’s a big stone circle, behind each stone is a different type of Evo Stone.

Water Stone Evolutions:

In Sword & Shield you use Water Stone to evolve the following Pokemon:

  • Eevee > Vaporeon
  • Shellder > Cloyster
  • Lombre > Ludicolo

Other Evolution Stones:

  • Dawn Stone
  • Dusk Stone
  • Fire Stone
  • Leaf Stone
  • Ice Stone
  • Moon Stone
  • Shiny Stone
  • Sun Stone
  • Thunder Stone
  • Water Stone
  • Razor Claw
  • Tart Apple
  • Sweet Apple
  • Cracked Pot
  • Reaper Cloth
  • Protector
  • Sachet
  • Whipped Dream
  • Metal Coat
  • Prism Scale

You can’t get into the river in route two. I tried every part of the river I could see.

You can’t evolve Sobble with a Water Stone. If it’s at level 100, you need to use a Rare Candy.

The water stones can also evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath. Another way to evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath is to trade Poliwhirl while it is holding King’s Rock.

Sorry, just a quick correction. If you trade Poliwhirl with the King’s Rock, it becomes Politoed, not Poliwrath. My mistake 🙂

You need to go to the professors house to get the water stone on route 2
