Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has 171 different TM (Technical Machines). You can use them to teach your Pokemon new moves. They contain a certain move that can be taught to a Pokemon. TMs in Scarlet & Violet are one-use only, meaning you can only teach the attack to one Pokemon and then the TM disappears. So be very careful when using them and make sure you teach the move to a Pokemon that is useful in combat. Also be aware that not every Pokemon can learn every type of move in the game. Usually Pokemon of the same elemental class as the TM can learn the move (for example, Fire Pokemon can learn Fire TMs).
You can select the TM from your bag and choose “Use this Item”. Then it shows which of your Pokemon can learn that particular move.
You can still search for TMs after the story in free roam. Most are found randomly in the open world (not at fixed locations), come from crafting, as rewards from defeating gym leaders, from defeating trainers in a region and then talking to the league representative at the nearest Pokecenter, and some are bought from shops.
