Avalugg ‘Lord of the Tundra’ is a Noble Boss Battle in Pokemon Legends Arceus. In Pokemon Arceus the Space-Time Distortion around Mt. Coronet has sent a group of Pokemon known as Noble Pokemon into a frenzy. Throughout the Story you will have to fight against each of these Pokemon and remove them from their frenzy for their Wardens. These battles are a little different from usual Pokemon battles through Hisui, the Pokemon will battle yours and then will try attacking you as a trainer. You will need to evade the Pokémon’s attacks.

All of the Noble Pokemon you fight will be story-related.

Noble Pokemon: ‘Lord of the Tundra’ Avalugg (Level 56)

  • Steel

Avalugg’s Weaknesses will make it receive 2x damage when you use the following move types:

  • Flying
  • Ground
  • Bug
  • Fire
  • Grass
  • Ice
  • Dragon

Avalugg’s Offensive Weakness will see it do 1/2 damage to the following Pokemon types:

  • Steel

Stage 1 of the fight

The fight will start immediately with Avalugg attacking you. Avalugg is massive and will not be on the platform with you but instead will attack you from off the platform. You will have to dodge his attacks while throwing Snow Balms at him. Use those to lower his Frenzy Bar until he drops his head and you get a notification to send out a Pokemon to battle the Avalugg, this will be the start of Stage 2. The following are Avalugg’s tells and attacks and how to avoid them:

Avalugg will look to the left or right start shooting out ice balls. He will move his head from left to right back and forth creating a slalom of Ice balls. Simply roll through the ice balls throwing Snow Balms at him when you can.

Avalugg will look straight and roar. This means he is about to summon ice stalactites out of the ground in a straight line toward where you are standing. Simply roll out of the way as the stalactites approach you and if you are too close make sure you are ready to roll out of the way as soon as he roars. He will create a couple rows of these in an attempt to hit you.

Avalugg will create an ice geyser on its back and roar at you. This means he is about to shoot large icicles your way one at a time. Simply roll out of the way once they are fired at you to dodge the attack.

Avalugg will stomp on the ground with all four feet and will look to the left or right and start creating a ball of energy in its mouth. It will shoot an energy beam straight forward and move it along the bottom of the floor from one side to the other. Simply roll through the beam to not take damage.

Stage 2 of the fight

After you get the notification to send out a Pokemon send out the Pokemon that is strong against Avalugg to deplete his health bar so you can move on to Stage 3.

Stage 3 of the fight

Once defeated in battle you will have a small window to throw Snow balms at the Avalugg before it starts attacking you. The attacks in this stage of the fight are similar to the attacks in the first stage only this time when it attacks with a row of stalactites it won’t necessarily be in a row anymore but instead randomly wherever you are standing. and the stalactites will leave behind ice shards on the ground where they were before. Continue dodging and throwing Snow Balms at the Avalugg until it notifies you to send out a Pokemon to battle the Avalugg.

Stage 4 of the fight

If you haven’t defeated Avalugg by this point send out another Pokemon to defeat the Avalugg again to get it back to the Frenzy Bar portion to defeat it.

Stage 5 of the fight

Once you defeat Avalugg in battle again it will repeat the same attacks in Stage 3 and 4 until defeated.

After the fight

Once you have depleted the Frenzy Bar of Avalugg it will run away and you will be free to continue the story mission.
