Introduction
Welcome to the Nioh 2 Trophy Guide! You can expect a very similar trophy list to the first Nioh game, except easier. Nothing is missable. As for Collectibles you must locate 150 Kodama and 27 Hot Springs. This time there are no insanely hard double bosses at the end. The game starts out hard when you are low level and haven’t unlocked many skills yet, but it gets increasingly easier the further you get. You must reach 120,000 proficiency with all weapons which takes much longer than in the original Nioh. That’s the only grindy part, the rest comes naturally along the way. You must beat all Main- and Sub Missions. Twilight Missions are not needed this time around.
Check out my Nioh 2 Tips & Tricks to get you started, this can save you time later or at least refresh your memory from the first Nioh.
Step 1: Finish All Missions (Main- & Sub Missions), Get Kodama & Hot Springs, Switch to a New Weapon after 120,000 Proficiency [50-150 Hours]
For trophy “Samurai of Legend” you must finish all Main- and Sub Missions in the game. You should be doing the Sub Missions along the way anyway as they help you level up and contain Kodama.
Be sure to grab all Kodama as you go through the game. Every 5 of them give you +1 Elixir on respawns. Instead of the standard 3 Elixirs it lets you carry up to 8 Elixirs (each region has 25 Kodama = +5 Bonus Elixirs). This makes the game significantly easier and you don’t have to do as much backtracking for the Kodama later.
» Nioh 2 – All Kodama Locations
If you want you can also work on the Hot Springs right away but they can also be gotten in an hour after the story by just rushing through the missions.
» Nioh 2 – All Hot Spring Locations
One thing to keep in mind: The enemy type Mujina is extremely rare (click link for picture). They are randomly jumping out of treasure chests sometimes. You must kill 1 Mujina for “Yokai Quelling Master” and also imitate at least 1 of them to get their Soul Core (do the same gesture they do and they’ll leave peacefully without attacking). The trouble is these creatures are extremely rare, I only found 1 of them in my entire first playthrough. So if you ever come across them, be sure to either greet them back with the same gesture they are making and also kill 1 of them.
If you want, you can also switch to a new weapon type after having reached 120,000 proficiency. That’s how much you need to play the weapon-related dojo mission (unlocks later in story) to get the weapon’s mystic art. You can also grind proficiency quickly after the story in New Game+ (which is much faster as of patch 1.04).
Step 2 (Optional Mop-Up): Dark Realms, Soul Cores, Mission-specific Trophies [0-5 Hours]
After you are done with your first playthrough, take a look what mission-specific trophies you are still missing and backtrack to get anything you still need. All missions can be replayed via mission select.
Refer to trophy “Let There Be Light” for Dark Realms. To see where you are missing one, click on a mission in the world map and . It shows you how many collectibles you found there, including Dark Realms. Now that you are high-level it will be easy to dispell remaining Dark Realms. They are the gray foggy areas and to dispell them you need to kill one enemy inside the Dark Realm that has red particles flying around them.
Refer to trophy “Soul Searcher” for Soul Cores. You should have gotten 90% automatically on 1st playthrough without trying. You can get the rest right now or combine it with the next step and continue in New Game+.
Step 3: Farming 50 Tea Utensils & Remaining Weapon Proficiency [~10 Hours]
After the story you will likely have around 25-40 tea utensils and are still missing some. Refer to trophy “Tea Connoisseur” (they are random drops from enemies). The fastest way is to farm the boss Obsidian Samurai in mission “A Formal Match“. He drops a tea utensil every 4-6 playthroughs on average and you can kill him in a few seconds when you are high level. Place tea utensils with high Eccentricity in your hut to increase the drop rate.
For the weapon proficiency either farm the first big enemy “Gozuki” in the first mission in New Game+, or play through New Game+ and kill everything along the way. When you’ve reached 120,000 proficiency with one weapon, switch to another until you have 120,000 with all 9 weapons. Then play the weapon-related dojo missions to unlock their mystic arts. If you just farm the Gozuki enemy it takes around 1 hour to reach 120,000 proficiency per weapon.
Patch Note: Be sure you have Patch 1.04 (or above) installed for farming proficiency. Since this patch you earn proficiency 4 times faster and only need 120,000 instead of 180,000 proficiency to get the mystic art for a weapon. Thus the mystic arts are a lot faster to get.

A Weapon’s Mind Listened to the innermost thoughts of a Yokai Weapon. |
||
This requires a Yokai weapon with 999 Familiarity (900 Familiarty or lower won’t work as those weapons don’t talk to you). You can tell a weapon is a Yokai weapon because in the inventory it has the “Imbue Corruption” stat (purple text) and also a purple icon .
Every time the Sentience Gauge (bar below your weapon on right side of screen) has filled up, the weapon turns purple and will talk to you. However, the trophy does not pop on the first time it talks to you. You need to listen to it multiple times. Whenever the Sentience Gauge has filled up it will talk to you. Do this a few times and the trophy will pop after it has exhausted all the dialogues. Just stick with one such weapon for a while and it will happen naturally over time. |

In Nioh 2 you must acquire mystic arts for 9 weapons and 2 special categories “Ninjutsu” & “Onmyo Magic”.
Mystic Arts are bought in the Skill Tree (Touchpad > Learn Skills). The skill tree entries with a red circle are mystic arts. When you scroll over them it shows the requirement. All of them require you to beat the highest-level Dojo Missions. To unlock those Dojo Missions you must get 120,000 proficiency by actively using these weapons and advance in the story. Each hit you land with a weapon or spell adds to your proficiency. The more damage you do, the more proficiency you get. This means the further you level up and the further you get into the game, the more proficiency you will earn per hit (because you will be a higher level, have better weapons and deal more damage). To see how much proficiency you got with each weapon, press Touchpad > Status > . Do not confuse this with weapon familiarity. 9 Weapons (120,000 proficiency required each):
2 Support Abilities:
In New Game+ this starts to get significantly faster. On your first playthrough you can reach 120,000 proficiency with at least 1 weapon, possibly 2 if you switch to a new weapon right after reaching 120,000 proficiency with the first. You can still use your main weapon for bosses the first time around to make it easier. But as soon as a weapon is maxed out, switch to a new one to reduce the endgame grind. Also equip accessories that give you a +% Proficiency Bonus. This way it goes faster. *NOTE: Patch 1.04 (and above9 makes you earn proficiency 4 times faster and you only need 120,000 instead of the previous 180,000 proficiency for the mystic arts. Make sure you have the 1.04 patch (or newer) installed. How to Farm Proficiency after Story: After the story you will likely still be missing Tea Utensils and maybe some Soul Cores. Combine the 50 Tea Utensils (random drops from enemies) with farming proficiency by playing through New Game+. The further you get the more proficiency the enemies will earn you! Not only that, but it allows you to level up further and get ready for DLCs should you want to play them. Fastest Method (~12 Minutes to 120,000 Proficiency) – requires you to play through New Game+: The fastest method I found was in New Game+ “The Golden Castle” (Region 6). At the first Shrine go left, there are 2 enemies (1 small, 1 big) standing there and another 2 in the room behind them. Enter the room for a short moment and go back out to lure the 4 enemies together. Hit all 4 at the same time with attacks that cover a wide radius (usually mid-stance with most weapons). For example, with the Spear or Kusarigama you’d use mid-stance because that covers the widest radius and is easiest to hit multiple enemies. You’ll want to use a move that hits as many of them at once. This allows you to defeat 4 enemies in a much faster time than fighting each of them individually. Killing all 4 gives you 10,000+ Proficiency and only takes a few seconds. Go back to the Shrine to make them respawn and repeat. On average each run took me 1 minute (10,000 Proficiency per 1 Minute = 120,000 Proficiency in 12 Minutes). You can also buff yourself with Steel Talisman + Rejuvenation + Barrier Talisman, then you have higher defense, automatic health recovery, and faster Ki recovery which makes it easier. Also remodel your weapon at the Blacksmith to increase its damage as much as possible for your character build (or alternatively, consider respecing your attributes with a Book of Reincarnation, bought at the in-game shop and received as mission reward). You’ll want to maximize your damage output. The more damage you do, the faster it goes. Combine this always with Ninjutsu and Onmyo Magic Spells to level them at the same time. Because you can combine it with the 50 Tea Utensils for trophy “Tea Connoisseur” you have to keep playing after the story anyway. Slower Method (~50 Minutes to 120,000 Proficiency) – doesn’t require playing through New Game+: Another strategy is to farm the 1st big enemy “Gozuki” in the 1st main mission in New Game+ (the big bull enemy). Let him kill you or do a Harakiri when he gets low on health. Then you respawn and he has full health back, just repeat this. You get around 7000 Proficiency per try which takes around 3 minutes (around 50 minutes per weapon with this method). Or you can simply go through the level, killing all enemies along the way which will take a little over an hour per weapon. Turbo Controller Method (~2 Hours to 120,000 Proficiency) – requires Turbo Controller: This requires a special Turbo Controller. Play Dojo Mission: “The Way of the Onmyo – Veteran”. In the PS4 System Button Assignments switch out and (so that makes you lock-in on enemies). Then in Nioh 2 press Touchpad > Controls > Control Configuration = Custom > change quick attack to instead of . Equip the weapon you want to farm with. Now all you do is turbo and (the attacks and makes you respawn when you die, the locks in on the enemy). Every 2 hours or so you should have a weapon maxed out without playing yourself, the turbo controller does it for you. *Thanks to Hakoom for this method – check his video to see it in action. |
||
Burst Breaker Used the Brute, Feral, and Phantom Burst Counters five times each to counter a Burst Attack. |
||
To do a Burst Counter you must press + when an enemy does a red aura attack (they will be glowing red). You must perform the counter in the same moment they are about to hit you.
Brute, Feral, Phantom are the different types of Guardian Spirits. They each do a slightly different type of counter animation with different timing. At the Shrine where you equip Guardian Spirits it will say what type they are. The Burst Counters from the Dojo Tutorial do not count for this. But you can farm it easily at the 1st big enemy in the 1st mission. He will often do red aura attacks. You won’t have access to all colors of Guardian Spirits from the beginning, new ones are unlocked as rewards for completing main- and side missions. Just keep playing until you have all 3 types, then alternate between them at a boss to do the 5 counters, let the boss kill you to change guardian spirit at a shrine and repeat. |
||
Match Made in Heaven Performed a Soul Match. |
||
Soul Match is automatically unlocked during the story. Go to World Map > Starting Point > Blacksmith > Soul Match. Pick two items and click “Soul Match”. This allows you to sacrifice a high level gear piece to level up a lower level gear.
Latest Masterpiece Forged an item. |
||
Forging items is automatically unlocked during the story. Go to World Map > Starting Point > Blacksmith > Forge. It doesn’t matter if you forge Weapon, Armor or a Tool.
Remodeling Novice Remodeled a piece of equipment. |
||
Remodeling equipment is automatically unlocked during the story. Go to World Map > Starting Point > Blacksmith > Remode. This only works on items that have a (+1) or (+2) etc. behind their level. These won’t drop until late in the game, mostly on Divine Gear (Green Rarity) which drops in New Game+ after the story.
Tea Connoisseur Appraised your tea utensils 50 times. |
||
Tea Utensils are randomly dropped by enemies. This is slightly random and luck related. During the story you should get 25-40 automatically without worrying about this.
After the story, the fastest and most reliable method is to farm the boss Obsidian Samurai in Sub Mission “A Formal Match” (works with any sub mission that consists of only 1 single boss fight). Obsidian Samurai and other sub mission bosses tend to drop 1 tea utensil every 4-6 playthroughs. After the story you will be high level and can kill him in 10 seconds. Simply farm this one boss until you have 50 tea utensils. Keep this for your last trophy to reduce the grind (you’ll get many tea utensils automatically while working on the other trophies). Once you have gotten Tea Utensils, go to World Map > Starting Point > Hidden Teahouse (unlocked automatically during story) > Appraise Tea Utensils. The old man sitting there will appraise them. It’s okay to skip the cutscene while he does this. Often he will throw out tea utensils that he doesn’t like but those still count as an appraisal towards the trophy. To see how many appraisals you have, press Touchpad > Titles > Title List > Ungyo Title List > Reputable Tea Ceremony Master (it shows how many of 50 you got). To increase the drop rate you’ll want to display Tea Utensils with high Eccentricity in your hut. Go to Starting Point > Hut > Remodel Hut > Tea Utensils > Select Placement > place the ones with highest Eccentricity Stat (purple icon). |
||
Lover of Letters Displayed a calligraphy scroll in your hut. |
||
Go to World Map > Starting Point > Hidden Teahouse (unlocked automatically during the story) > Trade > Hanging Scroll Text.
They cost 1000 Glory each. Buy one of them. You get Glory from defeating Revenants from red graves. After you bought it go to Starting Point > Hut > Remodel Hut > Hanging Scrolls and place it. This pops the trophy. |
||
Trinket Triumph Used the Kodama Bazaar. |
||
Go to a Shrine > Make Offering > Kodama Bazaar. Pick any of the items they have on offer.
This requires “Divine Rice” which you get from donating items to Shrines (Shrine > Make Offering > Make An Offering). The Kodama Bazaar Stock will only replenish items that you possess in fewer numbers than the current stock. E.g. if the Bazaar has arrows or other projectiles, shoot all of yours away and you will be able to buy new ones from the Bazaar. |
||
Teamwork Completed 10 missions with NPCs or as Expeditions with other users. (Does not include Acolytes.) |
||
This will come automatically from side missions, no need to play online for this. If you do all side missions you will get during the 3rd region. A lot of side missions feature AI companions that follow you around to help you out. Don’t even worry about this trophy.
Help Wanted Summoned an Acolyte from a Benevolent Grave 10 times. |
||
Acolytes are the AI companions you can summon from Blue Graves. Blue Graves (Benevolent Graves) mark the spot where other players have died. You can also find them offline in most main missions.
Interact with 10 blue graves to summon the AI companion for this trophy. In order to interact with blue graves you must get Ochoko Cups. These are rewards for defeating Revenants from Red Graves (Bloody Graves). They tend to drop 1-5 Ochoko Cups depending on the Revenant’s level. Summoning an Acolyte from Blue Grave tends to cost 2-5 Ochoko Cups. |
||
Twilight Walker Completed your first Twilight mission. |
||
Twilight Missions are unlocked when you reach the 2nd region (after 3rd main mission). There are two per day, but it’s random which two you get. To play them you must click on the red “eyes” on the left side of the world map. Note that even though you unlock them in region 2, you may be unlucky and only get late-game Twilight missions in the daily rotation which means they cannot be started. The Twilight Missions are just harder versions of the Main Missions. Only after having beaten the Main Mission in the story you can access its Twilight Version. The enemies will change to harder ones and the mission boss gets stronger.

This also includes the Side Mission “Master of the Three Evils that requires 120,000 Dual Sword Proficiency (this mission contains a boss which gives you a Guardian Spirit, which will likely be the last one for most players). In total there are 25 Guardian Spirits:

Sudama Swapper Exchanged gifts with a Sudama for the first time. |
||
Sudama are purple-colored Kudama – a small creature found at fixed positions throughout many missions. The first place to encounter a Sudama is in Main Mission 2: The Beast Born of Smoke and Flames. Immediately after passing through this mission’s first corrupted Yokai Realm (a burning village), you will go across a bridge and there are two wooden houses on the right. Inside the second wooden house is a ladder leading underground. Climb down and you’ll find the Sudama there. Now in order to exchange gifts, simply drop it an item from your inventory that you don’t need, e.g. any low quality weapon will do. He will drop you a bunch of items in exchange which unlocks the trophy. If you talk to him he won’t do anything, you have to drop the item from your inventory close to him and he’ll pick it up automatically. This is what a Sudama looks like: |
||
Core Score Obtained your first Soul Core. |
||
Soul Cores are dropped by enemies and you will get many of them throughout the game. After collecting one, bring it to a shrine to purify it and the trophy will unlock. It won’t pop right away when finding the Soul Core, only after you brought it at a shrine it unlocks.
Friend to the Kodama Obtained a Kodama’s Soul Core. |
||
To get a Kodama you must find a Sudama (purple Kodama, see trophy “Sudama Swapper” and drop it a Soul Core from your inventory. This has a chance of it giving you back a Kodama’s Soul Core. It’s a small chance and requires luck. Just keep giving them your Soul Cores. Higher-level Soul Cores may have a higher chance of giving you a Kodama Core in return. What Soul Core you drop doesn’t matter, it can be any of them.
Soul Searcher Obtained all Soul Cores. |
||
Nioh 2 has 51 Soul Cores.
These are random drops from defeating or interacting with enemies as well as friendly creatures (Sudama, Scampuss, Mujina). The name of the Soul Core correlates to who drops it (except Kodama Core which is a random drop for giving Soul Cores to Sudamas). 90% of these you will automatically have after the 1st playthrough without worrying about it. Then you simply compare your in-game list with the below list (see the Soul Cores in your inventory and order by Type. The below list is in that same order). The ones with special instructions have an asterisk (*). Anything else is considered self-explanatory as it’s dropped by the enemy with the same name. It’s worth noting that enemies inside Dark Realms (Yokai fog corrupted areas) have a higher drop rate of Soul Cores. While dispelling all Dark Realms for trophy “Let There Be Light” you’ll get a lot of Cores. Also use the Kodama Blessing “Yamabushi Blessing” at a Shrine (+5% Soul Core Drop Rate) & Equip Accessories that give +% Soul Core Drop Rate. To be safe, keep at least 1 of each core type in your inventory and don’t fuse or destroy it. Duplicate cores you can get rid of if you wish (you only need 1 of each type). Useful Links:
List of All Soul Cores (ordered by “Type” in-game menu):
Here are pictures of all soul cores via in-game list: |
||
Fuse It or Lose It Fused any Soul Core until it reached rank 9. |
||
Go to Shrine > Manage Soul Cores > Soul Fusion.
Select a Soul Core that you have many times, e.g. Enki or Gaki are most common. Under your Soul core it shows the attack, defense, and “Soul Core Rank”. Rank 9 is the maximum. The way you get there is by fusing your base core with cores of the same type or Mortal Cores. E.g. fuse an Enki Core with another Enki Core (or a Mortal Core which can be fused with anything). Each Fusion gives you +2 Soul Core Ranks. At most you’ll need to do 4 fusions to get to rank 9. Soul Cores drop a lot throughout the story, so don’t worry about this. After the story you’ll have more than enough of them to do this. |

Let There Be Light Dispelled every instance of the Dark Realm in the main missions. |
||
There are 47 Dark Realms in Nioh 2.
Dark Realms are corrupted Yokai Realm areas surrounded by gray fog. When you enter them, everything will look black & white. Enemies are buffed and your Ki (Stamina) recovers slower than usual. In order to dispel these Dark Realms, you must defeat one specific enemy inside them. The enemy you must kill will have some red particles flying around them. All other enemies in the Dark Realm can be ignored. Once you clear a Dark Realm it won’t return if you die. You must clear all 47 Dark Realms in the Main Missions only (Sub Missions don’t matter). You will automatically have to go through 90% of them on the main paths. A few are in side areas which you must visit for the Kodamas and Hot Springs anyway. None of these Dark Realms are particularly hidden, they are in plain sight and easy to spot from afar. To see how many you get in each mission, on the world map click on a mission and then to see the collectibles in it. This way you can easily figure out where you are missing one. Just explore the map fully and you’ll get them all. In the early game they can be challenging, so if you have trouble with this return later after beating the game.

Grazer Eraser Defeated Mezuki and Gozuki in the same mission. |
||
This takes place in the first main mission “The Village of Cursed Blossoms”. You need to defeat an optional enemy and the mission boss to get this trophy. The optional enemy “Gozuki” is the second enemy you encounter at the very start of the mission. He looks like a bull with a big spiked club weapon in his hands. The second enemy “Mezuki” is the mission boss, which is unmissable and must be defeated to finish the mission. Just make sure you have defeated “Gozuki” before killing the mission boss “Mezuki”. Also, Gozuki will stay dead even when you respawn or visit Shrines. You don’t have to kill both in a single life. This is what Gozuki (optional enemy) looks like: Both of them have similar move sets and the strategy is the same: Use High Stance of your favorite weapon — I recommend the spear due to its long reach. Keep your distance and let the enemies miss their combos. When they have missed you run up to them and land two quick attacks in High Stance. These drain the enemy’s Ki (stamina) more than mid or low stance, which is crucial. The goal is to deplete their Ki. Whenever you see them charge up a red glowing attack, be sure to use + to counter it. This causes massive Ki drain to them. Also use your Soul Core attacks + / + when their Ki is nearly depleted. Once their Ki is gone, attack with everything you got. Use KI Pulse after landing a hit to recharge your Ki more quickly (helps to maximize damage output while they are staggered). It’s all about bringing their Ki bar down and then unloading your most powerful attacks while they are staggered. Play it safe and slow, watch the enemy’s move set without attacking. When you have memorized all their attacks you will know when they have finished a combo, which gives you an opening to land 1-2 hits. And remember to always counter their charged attacks. You also have to fight Gozuki + Mezuki together in the missions “The Refined Man of the Underworld” & “The Golden Castle”. |

Dungball Roller Became Ryunojo the Dung Lover’s best friend. |
||
You find Ryunojo the Dung Lover in Main Mission 9: Bird in a Cage. After the 2nd Shrine, head left into a cave with poison pools. Ryunojo is at the end of the cave, after climbing up a ladder. You must give him 30 Dungballs to get the trophy (Noble Dungballs count as 2 normal Dungballs). You can farm Dungballs from killing Tesso enemies (the poison farting monks). You should get 1 Dung Ball every 5 Tessos on average. You also find plenty of Dungballs and Noble Dungballs from corpses (yellow item pickups) in this mission and throughout the rest of the game. To make this less grindy, keep this as one of your last trophies. You’ll encounter many more Tesso enemies on your way to platinum. When you are done with the story come back to this mission. If you don’t have 30 dungballs by that point, keep killing Tesso. Then hand all dungballs to Ryunojo and the trophy will unlock. |

In this mission you can find 3 Snake Statues. You could destroy them to get rid of the poison in the area, which also drains the poison pools in the boss area. With the poison pools gone from the boss battle it makes the fight easier. But for this trophy you must do it the hard way. This can be pretty challenging on the first playthrough of the mission. It’s better to ignore this trophy until you’ve beaten the game and reached Level 100+. Then replay the mission and head straight for the boss without destroying the Snake Statues. Because you are so overleveled, you will be able to defeat the boss quickly despite the poison. If you decide to tackle it early on, be sure to buy the Ninja Skill “Medicine: Anti-toxin Pill II” and equip as many of them as you can carry. This cures the poison effect. Also equip the Magic skill “Rejuvenation Talisman” to heal yourself over time. As long as you stay out of the 3 poison pools in the boss fight it won’t be too bad. Attack the boss when it slithers past you and when it summons its snake arms through the ground. Try to destroy both its snake arms before it goes into Yokai Realm mode. |

Seven Wonders Defeated each of the Seven Spears in “Cherry Blossom Viewing in Daigo”. |
||
This takes place in Main Mission 18: Cherry Blossom Viewing in Daigo.
Throughout the mission are strong enemies that look and behave differently from other enemies. They have a unique armor and different move sets. All of them are human. Make sure you kill all of these enemies, just clear out all enemies in one area before moving to the next. The trophy won’t pop right away! It unlocks during the cutscene at the mission boss. Beware that unlike other missions you can’t backtrack all the way to the start in this mission. Therefore, you should watch out to clear all enemies from the beginning so you don’t end up missing one and having to replay. |
||
Feather Buster Drove back every Tatarimokke along the journey in “A Way Out”. |
||
During the 7th main mission “A Way Out” (3rd Region), there will be two areas with searchlights. Simply let the searchlights detect you, then destroy the big red orb that spawns. Destroying the red orb makes the searchlights go away. The trophy will unlock immediately after destroying the 2nd one, no need to finish the mission. |
||
Bold Wrangler Defeated Gozuki in “The Village of Cursed Blossoms”. |
||
This takes place in the first main mission “The Village of Cursed Blossoms”. The second enemy in the mission (at very start of mission) is a huge bull monster holding a big spiked club. He is much stronger than other enemies in the mission. Defeat it and the trophy will unlock. Wait for it to miss a combo, then run up to it and land 1-2 High-Stance quick attacks. When the enemy uses an attack with a red glow, be sure to use + to counter it, thus breaking his Ki bar (stamina). Also use Soul Core attacks when his Ki is nearly broken. Once his Ki is empty you can deal a lot of damage in short time because he’s unable to move. Your goal should be to break his Ki bar, once depleted attack with everything you got, repeat until he’s dead. Here is an image of what Gozuki looks like: |

Schemer Got Gyuki to attack the dam in “Pervading Waters”. |
||
This takes place in the 10th Main Mission (4th Region) called “Pervading Waters” against the 2nd boss of the chapter. It’s a big gigantic spider-like Yokai monster called Gyuki. This takes place after beating the Saika Magoichi boss in the same mission. As soon as the fight against Gyuki starts, stand at the dam wall where you dropped down to the boss fight. Just stand there holding to block and wait for Gyuki to attack you. He will hit the damn, giving you an easy trophy. Ideally, you should get it on the 1st playthrough, otherwise you must beat the Saika boss again to get there. |
||
Peal of Ten Thousand Bells Rang all the bells in “Ruin Draws Near”. |
||
This takes place in the 13th Main Mission “Ruin Draws Near” (5th region). Throughout the missions you can find a total of 6 big bells. To be safe that it counts, hit each of them 3 times with a high-stance attack (I used Spear) until they fall off. Bell Locations:

So, did they remove the living weapon exploit in the first game?
PowerPyx says
There is no more living weapon in Nioh 2 (so yes, they removed the function completely).
Lightsp33d1987 says
Is it possible to online co-op all missions or are some solo only, Like the first game had that 1 mission where you could not co-op?
RuffioLostBoy says
In the beta, there was a side mission that didn’t allow co-op. Assuming that hasn’t changed in the last week, then there are at least side missions that can’t be co-op’d.
JL says
The platinum does look easier albeit grindier than the first game but being a completionist I’m not sure if I wanna go through the eventual and inevitable Way of the Demon missions for the DLCs. I’ll just wait till every DLC comes out and see what the trophies are like before diving into this.
PowerPyx says
I doubt they’ll force us again to play through NG++ in DLC.
Abdullah says
100-200 hours is just too much, would’ve been tempted if it were around 50 hours with 8-9/10 rating difficulty cuz that’s what I find myself to enjoy
Well, I guess I’m just gonna wait for the PC version
Maki says
That doesn’t make any sense !? What’s the link between hundred hours of gameplay and PC version????
Abdullah says
@Maki cuz I’ve lost my interest and I’m not gonna get it now anyway, so might as well wait for the PC version lol
Sean Humphries says
Mujina rare? I’m coming across one more or less every mission, had to attack the first one, wasn’t paying attention. Had 2 appearences in one Mysterious One Night Castle playthrough, one in a yokai realm hut and one near the 3rd shrine. Maybe Luck equipment is boosting it?
PowerPyx says
For me it was super rare, like I wrote only saw 1 in 1st playthrough (like 100h of playtime). Took me forever to find another one. From other people I talked to it was rare for them to.
Maybe I’m just having bad luck, I usually do with luck-based trophies.
royals_blue says
Hi all.
One question, do you get all trophies if you play expedition.
I am asking because me and my friend played an expedition main mission and didn’t get the boss trophy for Gozuki, then i was playing random encounters and got summoned did the same thing and then i got the trophy!
Anyone experienced anything similar?
Leo says
you dont as far as i am aware
MT says
Hey. I killed a Mujina, and it dropped a soul core, so you don’t have to imitate them.
Leo says
Maxiumed out my yokai weapon with 999 familiarity, it has spoken to me but trophy has not popped yet
PowerPyx says
You need to listen to it multiple times. Whenever the gauge on right side of screen has filled up it will talk to you. Do this a few times and the trophy will pop after it has exhausted all the talks.
windsstrider says
I think you actually have to go onto the memories section. What the weapon has said will show up there with exclamation points showing you have not read it yet. I think you need to clear that list for it to count as having been “heard.”
foggy says
Hi!
I’m having issues with unlocking mission Restless Spirits in Dream region. It says I need to visit Shibata in The Interim, but the bastard is nowhere to be found there. I’ve beaten all other missions, this is literally the last thing I need. Possible solution?
Also, any way to cheese Twilight missions? This rotation mechanics is really dumb.
Matt says
For shiva ya you have to take his side in the mission where him and Aquaman fight and then in the pervading waters mission you have to make him follow you after beating the onyodo and then complete the mission then he will be in the interim, you might have to clear every one else out of the interim like I had too
Alex says
How to get Scampuss soul? Those little guys are frequent but none seem to want to drop a soul
PowerPyx says
It’s just luck. Maybe 1% chance. Always interact with them when you see them. By the time you are done with NG+ for weapon proficiency you should have gotten 1 at least. You can also farm them by replaying missions (it’s important they stay with you until their timer runs out and you don’t die while they’re with you).
Kaisas1989 says
Where can I find the maelstrom and the thunderstorm oni-bi?
Kaisas1989 says
Okay just found both. But the less omi bozu, can’t find them
Kaisas1989 says
Just found it. The last one is the less Omi bozu can you say me where i can found him?
PowerPyx says
The enemy locations are already linked in “Soul Searcher” trophy.
William says
Do you have to beat the game before the mystic arts/dojo missions show up? I’m at 190,000+ with a weapon and nothing is showing up.
PowerPyx says
They show up later in the game (but before beating the story).
William says
Sounds good, thank you. Glad it’s not bugged or anything.
FP says
Regarding the rarity of Mujina: I have found a few locations where a Mujina seems to always spawn. In mission 10, right after the third shrine, there is a box in the gazebo that appears to always spawn a Mujina. The same was true for me in mission 11. Right after the second shrine, the box being guarded below the Kodama spawned a Mujina for me twice in one mission. So, either they have designated spawns or if one spawns into a mission for you, it will always be there until you kill it or gesture to it.
PowerPyx says
I’ll check this soon (currently working on some other upcoming game).
Can anybody else confirm it’s spawning in that spot?
JKatarn says
I can only comfirm the latter. IF a mujina already spawned in a mission and say it kills you, if you go back he will be back in the box. Happened to me in a twilight mission, I couldn’t find the gesture it was doing and it killed me twice before I finally got it right the third time with a easier gesture!
Dave Elfariz says
Not sure if this was covered as I am late to the party, but to identify whether a Mujina is in a chest, we just need to see if the chest has 3 lines on the side (normal ones have 2). Then use the ‘whistle’ gesture to call them out, then it will give you some time to prep for the gesture imitation bit.
Sean Humphries says
Devout Believer tip, if you join someones game and they have already taken out all the snake statues the trophy will pop for the visitor, just popped for me after killing the boss and there definitely weren’t any poison pools in the area
Liquidocelot666 says
Do we need to keep all Core with us for the trophy? Cause I gave a lot of them and I don’t know wich ones I need
And they take a lot of place in the inventory
PowerPyx says
I’m not 100% sure on this. Personally, I had them all in my inventory when the trophy unlocked. That’s the safest option for sure – keep one of each in inventory.
CrazyCornDog says
You do not need to have them all at the same time, it is easier for keeping track though.
8th says
noble dungballs are worth 2 each. i gave him 26 normal and 2 noble. got the trophy.
Casual Noob says
Today patch 1.04 just hit, and the requirement for weapon proficiency just reduce to 120,000.
Just for your update. Thanks.
PowerPyx says
Thanks for letting me know, will update it in the guide shortly.
Mark says
After today’s patch , mastery now requires 120k points instead of 180k
Haka says
Do you need to have all soul cores in inventory to get Soul Searcher, or just have gotten one in the past?
PowerPyx says
I had all of them in inventory (also says in guide).
ZexionPonty92 says
Hi everyone.
This morning with the latest patch 1.05 I noticed that the proficency required for the Mystic art missions has been lowered to 120.000 for weapons and 200.000 for ninja and Onmyo.
If confirmed the guide has to be updated. Faster platinum ;)
PowerPyx says
I’ll confirm all of this after Doom Eternal 🙂
Thanks everyone for letting me know about the update & glad to hear the grind got reduced.
NL_the_Godfather says
The proficiency requirement is lowered to 120k for all weapons at least. Also if you temper accessories with 9.9% proficiency bonus u get an extra 20% making this even faster.
JKatarn says
I can confirm the requirement is lowered, just unlocked the missions after the first mission in the 5th region (13th mission) and finished my tonfa training. Got the mystic art and the trophy!
Raz says
Can you use Clay Bell of Beckoning to farm Scampuss Soul Cores?
Final says
Dungball Roller Trophy bugged?
I have 30 regular dung balls and 6 noble and
all he keeps saying is this every time I see
him “Eh!? Come on, you must have
something” then the dialogue ends with no
option to give him anything. I have entered
and reentered this mission a bunch of times.
Tried others lobbies and its still the same
thing. Anyone know how to fix this?
PowerPyx says
The only time he ever stopped talking to me was when I had no Dungballs left to give him. You definitely have Dungballs in your inventory yes? If he doesn’t want to take them it could potentially be buggy.
Personally, I did this after finishing the story. If you still have other missions left, I’d say finish the rest and check back later. If you already finished story, try replaying some other missions to see if that updates anything.
Also check in New Game+ if he’s still there and can be given Dung again.
The worst-case scenario: If he’s still bugged and you also can’t get it through a friend’s game in co-op, you may have to start over (the good news is that this isn’t too far into the game and you can farm all 30 Dung right there).
Gopidx says
They reduced the proficiency requirement to 120k
BipolarBliss says
Theres an extra large yokai listed in game that isnt mentioned in the guide, so instead of 48 entries me and a friend have 49. Is there any one that has more information on this. Its preventing us from unlocking the trophy
Simoh says
Same issue here, I still have some missions to unlock but still haven’t figured out where the 49th Yokai is. Incoming DLC maybe?
TheBuxow says
Same problem here, probaly the 49th yokai was introduced with the last update.
TheBuxow says
For those that have trouble with killing all yokais. Kill kashin koji again! For me the fight with that boss didin’t tracked. :D
PowerPyx says
Kashin Koji is the problem.
He was added to count as a Yokai enemy via latest patch.
So I think what happened for everyone having problems is that you defeated him before the patch (even though he was always in the game he just didn’t count as a Yokai and wasn’t being tracked). If you defeat him again it should pop the trophy.
I updated the Yokai enemies guide too and included him.
Babs says
After the last update, the proficiency required to unlock the mystic arts has changed, you only need 120.000 proficiency for eacb weapon. Onmyo and ninjutsu still require 250.000 and 200.000 respectively.
PowerPyx says
Roadmap & Trophy Guide updated to reflect the patch 1.04 changes regarding weapon proficiency farming.
– You now earn proficiency x4 times faster
– You now need 33% less proficiency overall to get a weapon’s mystic art (120k instead of 180k)
– Thus the platinum has become about 20 hours faster to do
Retroagv says
Got the platinum last night was 64 hours for me would have been shorter but I didnt know you had to have all the soul cores at the same time I think people can do it a lot quicker maybe around 60 hours, it was much easier than nioh 1 and probably a few hours quicker if you do all the collectibles as you play, I had to go back and redo a few levels to pick up kodama and had 1 dark realm in the bell level and the level with fire axe guy.
BeleTTe says
Hi,
Does the amout of proficiency needed for weapons, onmyo and ninjutsu increase in NG+ ? See its 200k weapons, 420k nin and 480k onmnyo in NG+..
PowerPyx says
Yes, but on world map you can switch back to your first playthrough where the dojo mission requirements are lower (so you only need 120k proficiency to unlock mystic arts).
Hyousai says
So, I’ve heard from some that the Remodel option in the Blacksmith requires you to actually beat NG+. Is that correct or does it unlock earlier? If you’ve gotta do 2 full playthroughs anyway, no sense worrying about grinding out tea sets and such.
PowerPyx says
Unlocked end of 1st playthrough for me, didn’t have to play NG+ for it.
Just get a green colored item piece to remodel it (you unlock them when you defeat endboss).
Jake2by4 says
Hi Pyx I confirm that you don’t need to do NG+ to get the remodel option. I got lucky and got a weapon called ” Basket Blade & Boar Cutter” in the 5th region and its a purple weapon. The remodel option was there with this weapon.
FrankCastle says
Do you think they’re gonna make us do the full game on Way of the Demon, like in part one? because that stuff was awesome and satisfying, but painfully difficult xD
PowerPyx says
No, don’t think they’ll make that a trophy again.
male1v says
hello guys .. i can’t find the last kodama near the boss gate in ( The Frenzied Blaze ) mission , how can i solve this ?
Julya says
Same problem here, but in another mission, in the mission it does not appear but before starting the mission it shows that it is missing
male1v says
may we can get it when joining another world player .. can we ?
i did it with getting last soul core its worked but with kodama don’t know
Rafael says
sorry for my English. I was playing online and I got a kodama at the same moment that my friend got into the fight with the boss, on the map the kodama doesn’t show up anymore, but before starting the mission he says that 1 is missing, can someone tell me if there will be future problems? or is it normal?
Bumolo says
Hi guys!
Im at the 5th region and I have just 15k proficiency with Ninjustu. I just cant figure how to farm this.
Can you tell me how to reach 200k in NG?
Thanks a lot.
Leo says
i have an issue i have 120k proficiency with my Odachi but i cant do the way of the warrior warrior veteran mission for it is no appearing in the dojo list help?
PowerPyx says
Continue with the story and it will show up.
Rasta says
Thank you so much! I’m close to platinum trophy
LanceAmini says
I did not get the mystics art even though i finished the dojo and defeated the bosses!
PowerPyx says
You still need to buy the mystic art in the skill tree.
Lumo1988 says
An error calculation secondary mission is bug does not appear ?
Goodbye platinum???
Manntjee says
hello , is Shibata Katsuie one of the hardest bosses in the game , so far now big problems but now im stuck on about 2 days on this boss.
Maybe can someone beat him for me so that i can go on with the game?
Yamikaze says
As always, thank you very much for the great guides you provide, thankfully managed to get the platinum :D
Dustin says
Just putting it out there; you can get the mortal cores from one yokai. I got them from the one-eyed imp in the mission “A way out” in region 3 after the second shrine. It took quite some time as I was going for it’s soul core and got those ones, before realizing that it doesn’t drop it’s own core.
Kenneth P Griffin says
I know I am late to the party but a hint for looking for Mujina enemies. Look at the edge of treasure chests you come across, there are gold lines on the corners. If you see 2 lines its a regular chest, if you three lines its a Mujina enemy. Hope this helps someone
Ak2 says
I dont get it how it is 5.5/10. For me this game is much harder than Nioh 1. Nioh 1 was like 6/10 but this one is 9/10 at least. Thats just my opinion.
Ak2 says
Im stupid… Missed the part about post game extra missions not needed for platinum… Ye, its definitely easier plat than Nioh 1, however the hardest boss in niohs i believe is in nioh 2 (Damn you Katsuie!).
