Nioh 2 All Hot Spring Locations

March 10, 2020 by PowerPyx 1 Comment

Nioh 2 has 27 Hot Spring Locations. Finding all Hot Springs unlocks the Spa Lover trophy. Sitting in the hot springs restores your health and gives you a temporary healing effect which is helpful before boss fights.

None of these collectibles are missable. You can still get them after the story via mission replay.

To see how many you have found: Press Touchpad > Titles > Gameplay Records > Others > Hot Springs discovered (%). It will show a percentage value. Each hot spring accounts for 3.7%, so just divide your total percentage by 3.7 to know how many you found. In addition to this you can also click on any mission :x: and press :r1: in the mission overview to see how many Hot Springs and other collectibles you have located in it. This makes it very easy to find out where exactly you missed one of them, so you can quickly go back to redo it.

You only need to use each unique hot spring ones, meaning you don’t need to get them again in side quests that take place in the same area. Most of them are found during main missions but you revisit these areas in sub missions later. It is not required to sit in the hot spring again during the sub mission. In fact, in the mission overview screen it will already count as completed before you even start such a sub mission.

A lot of hot springs are hidden behind yokai walls (hidden walls with red glowing eyes). In order to get rid of them you can simply defeat them or try to guess the correct color of gesture (blue, yellow, red). It doesn’t matter what gesture exactly, just the color matters. You get two tries and if you made the wrong colored gestures the wall turns hostile. If you guessed correctly it lets you pass without a fight. What color is correct will be completely random for every player on every playthrough.

After bathing in a hot spring the progress is saved instantly. You can quit out of the mission right away without having to reach a shrine. If you die you don’t have to visit the hot spring again.

Below are all 27 Hot Spring Locations in chronological order.

Hot Spring Locations

Hot Spring #1
Main Mission 2: The Beast Born of Smoke and Flames

On the ground floor of the burning building at the end of the mission, where you must kick down barrels with water in them to extinguish fires. After dropping the first water barrel to extinguish the fire on the ground floor, walk to the top right corner (still on ground floor). There will be a hidden Yokai wall. You can tell because unlike the rest of the wall it has two red eyes. Instead of attacking it, make a gesture. Just like in the first Nioh, the wall will go away when you pick the right color of gesture – red, yellow, or blue. It doesn’t matter what gesture exactly, just the color matters. However, it’s randomized for every player what color-gesture the wall wants. You get 2 tries before it turns hostile, giving you a 66% chance to guess correctly. Otherwise, either fight the wall (hard way) or let it kill you / or activate last shrine, to reset it and try 2 gestures again. Behind the Yokai wall is the Hot Spring bath. Also very useful for the mission boss here.

Hot Spring #2
Main Mission 3: The Viper’s Sanctum

When you reach the 2nd Shrine in the mission you will be in an underground area. Just before you reach the bottom of the area (where the poison water begins) there will be a side cave with a hot spring location inside.

Hot Spring #3
Main Mission 4: The Hidden Monsters of Okehazama

After the 2nd Shrine walk all the way downhill. At the very bottom, just to the right before heading inside a cave, there’s a hidden wall (Yokai wall with red eyes). Get rid of the wall to find a hot spring location behind.

Hot Spring #4
Main Mission 5: The Mysterious One Night Castle

After you exit the village where you close the 2nd Flood Gate, you will come to a wood area. As soon as you get there, a Hot Spring is located on the right side before crossing over a wooden bridge. If you recruited the AI ally at the 2nd shrine, he will actually stop there to sit in the Hot Spring Bath.

Hot Spring #5
Main Mission 5: The Mysterious One Night Castle

Same mission as the previous hot spring location. It’s to the right of where you close the 4th Flood Gate (the one that opens a bridge back to the 1st Shrine). This one comes in handy on your path from the 1st Shrine to the Mission’s Boss Battle as it’s along the way.

Hot Spring #6
Main Mission 6: The Hollow Fortress

From the second Shrine in the mission, climb up the ladder right next to the Shrine and there will be two narrow stone paths with yellow crystals on them. Follow the left path all the way up. You will reach a single one of the rocket-arm enemies with his back facing to you. Where this guy stands, check for a hidden wall. The hot spring is located behind that hidden wall.

Hot Spring #7
Main Mission 6: The Hollow Fortress

Another hot spring behind a secret wall. It’s on the way from the 3rd Shrine to the mission’s boss fight. On the floor below the boss fight, where a rocket-arm enemy is at. Get rid of the hidden wall to find the spa behind it. Also very useful for the boss fight that lies ahead.

Hot Spring #8
Main Mission 7: A Way Out

After the 2nd searchlight area, there will be three paths – a cave, a bridge with a Tengu (bird enemy), and a path with a cyclops. Go down the path with the cyclops, at the end of it you find a hot spring location. If you reached the 3rd shrine in the cave you have gone too far and must backtrack for the other path.

Hot Spring #9
Main Mission 8: Corpses and Ice

Just before the mission boss there is a secret wall on the left (where 3 samurai enemies are standing, the last 3 enemies before the boss fight). Get rid of the wall and behind you find a new hot spring location, also useful to buff yourself for the upcoming boss battle.

Hot Spring #10
Main Mission 9: Bird In A Cage

After you pull the blue lever to turn the blue bridge, drop down the blue bridge to the platform below it. It has an opening that lets you drop down to the ground floor. There you find the hot spring location in a secret room, as well as a Kodama.

Hot Spring #11
Main Mission 10: Pervading Waters

After the third shrine there’s a Dark Realm (corrupted Yokai area). After this you must enter a building to advance (has some fake walls that you must cut through). Straight in front of you after entering this building will be a secret wall. Get rid of it to find the hot spring behind it.

Hot Spring #12-#18
Side Mission: Song of the Yokai

This side quest takes place in a bathhouse (the same one was featured in the first Nioh game with exactly the same hot spring locations). On the starting floor you find 2 hot springs on the right and 2 on the left. Go upstairs to the floor above for another 2 hot springs. The 7th and last hot spring for this mission is after you drop down via the wooden beams to the floor below. You’ll land right inside the hot spring, it’s in plain sight on your way to the mission objective. Beware there are enemies guarding all of these hot springs, always get rid of them first before bathing!

Hot Spring #19
Main Mission 11: The Frenzied Blaze

From the 3rd Shrine (the one just before the mission boss where a Dark Realm is), take the path on the left all the way to the end. A Hot Spring is located there.

Hot Spring #20
Main Mission 12: The Sun Sets On Mount Tenno

At the 3rd Shrine you must destroy two crystals (red and blue). This is the area just before the mission boss. Once the crystals are destroyed they leave behind a hole in the floor you can drop through. At the bottom is a hot spring.

Hot Spring #21
Main Mission 13: Ruin Draws Near

Shortly after the 2nd Shrine you go through a Dark Realm with a big bell in the middle. After this take the mandatory story path. Just before the 2nd Dark Realm with a bell in it, take the side path leading downstairs into the basement of a building (there are also two bells down there). The hot spring is located there behind a corner.

Hot Spring #22
Main Mission 14: The Two Faces of Hospitality

At the very start of the mission where you encounter the first few enemies, there’s a building on the right side with a hot spring inside (a Kodama is also there).

Hot Spring #23
Side Mission: A Message From the Deceased

In this side mission there’s a single Dark Realm, inside a cave section. On the left side of this cave you can walk up a path to find a hot spring at the end.

Hot Spring #24
Main Mission 15: The High-spirited Demon

After the 3rd shrine you come to an area where you’ll be shot at with big cannonballs. Defeat the one enemy in the Yokai Realm (big glowing Yokai with 2 swords) and open the gate behind it. Follow that path until a rooftop. You can drop through the roof into the building below. There’s a yellow crystal inside and also this hot spring!

Hot Spring #25
Main Mission 16: The Mausoleum of Evil

Straight ahead of the 2nd Shrine is a tower in the middle of the area. You must go inside that tower and drop down to its bottom floor. There you will find a lever. Pull the lever, it will shift the bridges inside the tower. Now backtrack to the 2nd Shrine. Enter the same tower again, this time dropping down only one floor on the bridge below. Because you turned the bridges you are now able to reach a hot spring from there!

Hot Spring #26
Main Mission 17: The Golden Castle

After the 2nd Shrine you come to a courtyard with a Dark Realm (corrupted Yokai area) and a big yellow crystal in the middle. From this courtyard check for some wooden stairs leading up. Halfway up the stairs you can go off the right side to find a room with a secret wall (Yokai wall with eyes). Get rid of the wall, the path behind it leads to this hot spring collectible.

Hot Spring #27
Main Mission 18: Cherry Blossom Viewing in Daigo

The final hot spring is located just before the 3rd Shrine, but you won’t be able to see or reach it the first time you get there. During the last part of the mission you will have to destroy chunks of yellow rocks on the main path to lower the flying islands around the map. This is a mandatory story step and unmissable. Once you have lowered them all and opened up the path to the mission boss, you can turn around from the 3rd Shrine to now find the Hot Spring before it! Easiest way to describe it is to keep playing till you see the door to the mission boss, then backtrack to 3rd Shrine and look for the hot spring near the Shrine.

That’s all of the Hot Spring Locations in Nioh 2 and you should now earn the Spa Lover trophy. Remember, if you missed anything you can click :x: on any mission on the world map and :r1: to see how many Hot Springs you found in it.
