  Obtained by taking a  standard picture of Mawile.
  
• 2 Stars: Cave Research Level 3: On alert
  Obtained by making Diancie open the alternate path in the end of the alternate path. Once that path is open the Mawile won’t be aggressive anymore. Run a scan on the Mawile and take a picture of the happy Mawile.
  
• 3 Stars: Cave Research Level 2: A bit unusual!
  Obtained by taking a picture of Mawile while it is yelling at you with its large mouth. It will do this by default but you can also make it do this by throwing a fluffruit at it.
  
• 4 Stars: Cave Research Level 3: Happy vibes
  Once you take the alternate route in the middle of the level look directly below you when you get into the open area and you will see two Carbink and a Mawile. Throw an illumina orb at the Mawile and it will start to dance, this is its 4 star pose.
