Monster Hunter Wilds Gillopod Location (Dareel’s Special Research Report Side Mission)

February 26, 2025 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

Gillopod is an endemic lifeform in Monster Hunter Wilds, required for Dareel’s Special Research Report side mission. After accepting the Dareel’s Special Research Report side mission you must catch a Gillopod using the Capture Net, then return to the quest giver.

Dareel’s Special Research Report Side Mission Start:

Dareel’s Special Research Report side quest starts by talking to Dareel in Windward Plains Base Camp. It’s part of the Dareel/Samin questline to catch various endemics.

Gillopod Location:

Gillopod can be found in Ruins of Wyveria – Area 8 – confirmed to spawn during Morning/Wyvern’s Tranquility weather (“Plenty” environment). They are little blue amoeba sticking onto walls, they look like rectangular jelly, slightly translucent. In Area 8 unlock Camp 8: Gap in the Rubble, it’s in the small tunnel there next to where the number “8” is on the map. From this camp turn around and exit the tunnel, then turn right, follow the walls on the right until you reach a corner, there you find some jelly sticking onto the wall. Some of these will called Pillopod but you can find a rare one there as well called Gillopod (has brighter blue color). If you don’t find it, travel to another map and then come back again. Having the Area 8 camp makes the process much faster since the location is close to the camp. Use the Capture Net to catch it.

Remember that endemics/fishes don’t have a 100% guaranteed spawn rate. They have fixed places where they can spawn but won’t be there every single time. If the endemic isn’t there for you, fast travel to another map and come back, this will respawn all endemics. Repeat this until you find the endemic in the suggested location. You can also rest at the portable BBQ Grill or in your tent to skip to a different daytime and weather effect, this also respawns everything but costs 300 guild points.
