This page shows the Ore Locations in Monster Hunter Wilds. Ore is gathered from Mining Outcrops across all regions. It’s used for crafting various weapons and armor pieces. There are multiple types of Ore and Crystals.
All mining outcrops are marked on the map by a blue question-mark icon. The full map and all icons are fully unfogged from the start. You can filter for these icons on the map: open the map and press D-Pad Right, click “Filter Icons” (herb icon), then press Triangle/Y to filter for “Gathering” icons. You can then scroll down the list to “Mining Outcrop” and use D-Pad Left/Right to jump between the icons. Put a waypoint on it with R3/Right Stick, mount your Seikret and it will bring you there automatically.
Even though these are marked, it’s still good to know what region gives what types of Ore. This depends on the region, for example Icium is only obtained in Iceshard Cliffs. Each Mining Outcrop can be looted 3 times in a row, but it’s random which of the region-specific ore you get from it. Some are rarer than others (e.g. Novacrystal is rare). Any Mining Outcrop in a region can give any of that region’s ore types.
When farming Ore, equip the Geologist Level 3 Skill, then you get double the ore. The Geologist skill comes from armor pieces that have this skill, or slotting the Geology Jewel decoration into armor. You can stay mounted on your Seikret and just mark the outcrops on the map, have the Seikret carry you there, loot the outcrop, rinse and repeat for all outcrops in a region. Then fast travel to another map to make everything respawn and come back. Sometimes additional mining outcrops will spawn if there’s an upsurge in a region, which is listed in the environment overview on the map.
Note that Iron Ore is only available in Low-Rank. After reaching High-Rank you can replay low-rank optional quests to still farm it. Some other Ores only spawn after reaching High-Rank.
