MediEvil (2019 PS4 Remake / Remaster) has 20 Chalice Locations. Finding all Chalices unlocks the King of Cups trophy and unlocks the secret ending for 100% completion.
Chalices are a type of Collectible in MediEvil. Almost every level in the game has a Chalice. You must first fill the Chalice by killing enough enemies in the level. You can see the completion status in the top right corner or when pressing Touchpad to open the inventory. When it’s at 100% you must locate the Chalice and collect it. Then finish the level. Chalices only count when you finish the level afterward! If you get a game over or quit to the map it won’t save your progress!
This guide shows how to get every Chalice:
Chalice #1 – The Graveyard
After the first green health fountain, you’ll have to open a big wooden gate with a rune (to the right of the health fountain). Behind this rune-locked gate are many enemies and an angel statue. There are also books you can read in this area for hints, they point out the angel to you. The chalice is behind a gate to the right of the angel statue. Simply attack the angel statue to turn it towards the gate, then it opens. Remember you must fill the chalice first by killing enough enemies. This means you must keep playing further until the chalice is full, then do some backtracking to grab the filled chalice.
Chalice #2 – Cemetery Hill
When going up the mountain with the rolling rocks, jump off the left side to an area below. There are 2 enemies and a chest there. Inside the chest you find a club. Use the club to smash the big rock on the far right side of the level, behind that rock you can enter the witch’s cave. At the end of the cave, smash the bookshelf with your club, behind you find a ritual room with a fire. Press to hold out your club and make it burn, then quickly run to the prison cells in the witch cave and hit the stone in the middle of the room to set it in flames. Then the prison cells open up and you can find the chalice behind it. All enemies in this level are either in the starting area, or inside the witch cave.
Chalice #3 – The Hilltop Mausoleum
In the room where you find the blue rune (moon rune), a door opens up to the right of it. There you see a phantom playing piano. The chalice is behind a secret door in the phantom piano room. To open it we must get the sheet music. Backtrack to the cellar where you came from with the colored glass windows. On the right side is a red window where to use the moon rune. The sheet music is there. Beware – as soon as you pick it up the floor will crumble. Go back to the phantom at the piano, press the touchpad and select the sheet music (must stand very close to phantom). After handing him the sheet, the secret door opens. You should easily have encountered all enemies in the chapter by this point.
Chalice #4 – Return to Graveyard
You will actually run into this chalice automatically. After opening the skull key door, you must grab a yellow rune and will enter an underground section. The chalice is in the middle of the underground. But the trickier part here is to kill all enemies. There is a path left and right in the underground. You must take one path to kill all enemies there, then backtrack and take the other path. All other enemies are found BEFORE entering the underground section where the chalice is. Important: when taking the left and right path, you’re supposed to push a stone block but DON’T do this yet! If you go too far you can’t go back. Just kill the enemies, then backtrack to the underground section with the chalice until you have 100% enemies killed.
Chalice #5 – The Enchanted Earth / Ant Cave
First you must get Chalice #2 in “Cemetery Hill”. In the same place where you got that chalice (prison in witch’s cave) you can find the Witch Talisman. Make sure you got it in your inventory. Then at the start of level “The Enchanted Earth” take the left path to find a Witch’s Cauldron at the end. Stand very close to it, open inventory with Touchpad and use the Talisman. Then a witch appears and offers you a quest, be sure to accept it. She shrinks you and puts you in an ant cave. Destroy the first wall on the right with a club or hammer (you find a club in same ant cave section if you don’t have one). Behind the wall you meet a Fairy, telling you to rescue 6 other Fairies. These are spread throughout the ant cave – they are hidden behind colored glass “windows” on the side of the cave walls. Just explore every tunnel in the cave carefully and make sure you got all 6 fairies rescued before dropping down to the Queen Ant boss (there’s a big yellow destructible cocoon and a book warning you that the queen ant fight starts when you drop down). The chalice is awarded instantly upon saving the 6th fairy, no need to pick up the chalice anywhere. If you missed this, you can replay the level and put the Talisman in the Witch Cauldron again to trigger the Ant Cave section.
Chalice #6 – Scarecrow Fields
In the last spinning trap before the end of the level, there’s a secret side path leading to a Harvest Part. Pick it up, then backtrack all the way to the locked barn in the fields, just before the trap section (but after the 2 Mecha Imps). Destroy the chest behind the barn to release a serpent that kills the enemies for you, and then kick the cart behind the barn. This lets you enter the barn through a crack in the wall where your serpent friend killed 2 scarecrows for you. Jump up the haystacks to reach the lever on top, release the lever to drop the harvest machine, stand near it and insert the Harvest Part. Now the machine will mow down a path outside, at the end of that path you can find the chalice. Most of the enemies in this level keep spawning over and over again in the same place and there are luckily more than you need to fill the chalice to 100%. A Life Bottle is also found next to the chalice.
Chalice #7 – Pumpkin Gorge
At the very start of the Pumpkin Gorge, take the first path on the right. It leads down a tunnel. At the end you reach an area with 2 Pumpkin Plants and a brick wall. There’s a club in a chest here, use it to break the brick wall. Behind the brick wall is a tunnel leading to the chalice. You must advance the level until you have 100% enemies defeated and then backtrack all the way to the start.
Chalice #8 – The Pumpkin Serpent
Simply defeat the Pumpkin King story boss in this level (unmissable), then a secret well opens up at the start of the level (was closed before by roots). Now you can jump down the well and find the chalice there.
Chalice #9 – The Sleeping Village
Avoid killing any villagers in this level. Only kill the Boiler Guards that spawn after you retrieve the gold bust. The Chalice is found behind a brick wall in the gated area you go to after putting the crucifix in the church (unmissable story step). Play until you reach the exit of the level (which is guarded by 4 boiler guards). After killing them, backtrack to the gated area where you pulled the lever that opened the level exit (single house where you had to drop through chimney), next to that house is a brick wall you can smash with hammer/club. Behind the brick wall is the chalice.
Chalice #10 – The Asylum Grounds
Chalice is found next to the Elephant. After solving the third riddle, the path behind the elephant opens up and that’s where you find the last enemies. Then backtrack to the chalice next to the elephant. All other enemies are found in previous sections.
Chalice #11 – Inside the Asylum
This Chalice is next to the level exit, where you pick up the green rune. Impossible to overlook, you’ll have to walk through it to get the green rune and to finish the level. All enemies are on the way to it.
Chalice #12 – The Enchanted Earth (2nd visit)
First you must obtain the “Shadow Artifact”. It’s in the safe of the mayor’s house in “The Sleeping Village” (safe key is in church). After you got the Shadow Artifact, place it on the hatch door at the level exit of “The Enchanted Earth”. This leads to a cellar with 4 runes on the floor, step on them in the following order: Orange (Fire) – Yellow (Spiral) – Green (Waves) – Blue (Tree). This will release demons around the level, kill all of them, then return to the cellar where you stepped on the 4 runes to find the Chalice there. You can still kill the demons after placing the Shadow Talisman by the laser-eye statues and defeating the demonette boss.
Chalice #13 – Pools of the Ancient Dead
The Chalice is found in the swamp area where you need to find the 8 story-related lost souls. Make sure you kill all enemies as you go through the level. The last ones will spawn after finding the lost soul locked behind the red rune gate.
Chalice #14 – The Lake
The Chalice is in the underwater section after jumping down the frozen Whirlpool. You won’t have enough kills by the time you reach it, so proceed to the next section, kill all enemies there to fill the chalice 100%, and then backtrack to it.
Chalice #15 – The Crystal Caves
Found at the very start of the level on the left side. Kill all enemies in the level and then backtrack to the start.
Chalice #16 – The Gallows Gauntlet
After walking through the flames that require the Dragon Armor to pass, step on all 4 floor pads to open up doors around the area (must have defeated the Dragon boss in previous level “The Crystal Caves” to get Dragon Armor). Then backtrack to the start and another floor pad will now be accessible behind a previously locked gate. Stepping on it opens the gate to the Chalice. You find the Chalice in the middle of the area. Kill the enemies at the exit of the level to fill the Chalice 100%.
Chalice #17 – The Haunted Ruins
You must save the 3 farmers in the courtyard. To do this, quickly kill the demons before they hit the platform near the farmers. You can simply use the shield bash to catch up to those demons and attack them with the sword (Magic Sword is best). Then you must equip the Hammer weapon. Now hammer the fires below the farmers a few times. This will put out the fires. Then you can step on the floor pad to release the farmers. Kill the rest of the demons throughout the level. The chalice is found on your way out of the castle, in the area to the left of where you saved the farmers.
Chalice #18 – The Ghost Ship
Just before the boss (reaching the end of the ship), there are some spinning platforms moving in a circular motion. Jump on these moving platforms and enter the elevator hanging there. After reaching the top with the elevator you can find the Chalice on the left. You must kill all the blue pirates (the white skeletons aren’t needed to fill the chalice).
Chalice #19 – The Entrance Hall
Take the right side staircase down, at the bottom you find the Chalice. Make sure you clear out all enemies (4 at level start, some down the left stairway, some down the right stairway).
Chalice #20 – The Time Device
At the place where you must disable the laser grid (where you pick up green rune), attack the two lasers at the front and make it so the laser runs in a circle. Then the red crystal that’s holding the chalice will be destroyed. Now play the level normally till the end (until you return from the blue rune railway) which should easily fill the chalice to 100% (more enemies in this level then you need). Backtrack to the laser grid to pick up the Chalice there.
The trophy won’t unlock immediately after finding the 20th Chalice. You must still finish the level, enter the hall of heroes and redeem the chalice at the statue behind the door. It gives you a Life Bottle upgrade and the King of Cups trophy.

Kenneth says
Is it possible to get the reward if you accidently left the Hall of Heroes and didn’t redeem it?, and then return after collecting another Chalice?
Will i still be able to collect both rewards?
PowerPyx says
When you collect another Chalice you go back to Hall of Heroes.
But if you were to close the game while inside the HoH before redeeming your 20th chalice I’m not sure what would happen / if you could go back there. I did that once for an earlier chalice and after rebooting the game it put me back in level select and not HoH. That’s why I mentioned it in missables overview to be careful with it, but you’d have to go out of your way to mess something up there.
Kenneth says
So you mean that, if i miss to redeem an reward and exit the hall of heroes and return after collecting another chalice, that i would be able to redeem both rewards at the same time?
because i saw a video on youtube with a guy playing medievil ps1, that there was 2 green lighted heroes at the same time there could be redeemed.
Kenneth says
Will i only be able to go to the upper floor in Hall of Heroes with the invisible stairs when i have redeemed all rewards from the lower floor first? – Because i can’t remember if i got the Gold Rewards from the lower floor… 🙁
John Ross says
Hi, just to say that the chalice is revealed at the end off the Ant Caves chapter near where the Queen Ant body was, still need to collect it before w walking out the exit, otherwise it gets missed. Didn’t automatically collect for me but had to get it myself, albeit it was next to me.
Martin says
Hey Powerpyx, i Have a question about Hall of Heroes before i start the game up. do i have to talk and get all rewards from the buttom floor in the hall of heroes in order for the invisible stairs to be walkable?
What if i have forgotten to talk to one of them and didn’t get his reward would i still be able to get to the upper floor with 6 chalices? as i hear is required, and have gotten all rewards from the buttom floor is required as well, can you confirm this?
Thanks in Advance…
PowerPyx says
It’s scripted in what order you get the rewards. You have to get all the ones from bottom floor first to open the staircase to upper floor.

Question. Must I complete hr Ant Cave in order to finish the game? I played this on PS years ago, and if I am correct, it’s not necessary. It’s a pita…
PowerPyx says
For the story you don’t need it.
It’s only an optional side quest.
Kieran says
This is a glitched trophy. I stopped getting rewards between 15-20 and once I did get all 20 chalices, the door wouldn’t open in the Halls of Heroes to unlock the trophy for collecting all 20.
Going to have to start again and hope for the best. Game is fun but full of bugs and glitches.

Ive collected chalice after beating Ant queen. I redeemed reward, but on map the chalice is marked as not collected. Is this normal?
