Chapter 2 Walkthrough
A New School Mystery
This start of Chapter 2 picks up immediately where Chapter 1 ended, with the crew still in the chairman’s office in Seiryo High. Yagami finishes speaking on the phone with Saori about the case she wants his help with, then you need to speak with the chairman. When prompted, show him the Smartphone Footage evidence.
You then need to go to the faculty room to speak with Ms. Sawa about the case. She isn’t there, so you need to inspect her desk for clues about Mikoshiba. The main thing to look at is the photo in the middle of her desk, which has pictures of students in it, and one picture sitting behind in the corner.
She returns and you have a discussion, then you need to head to the gymnasium to speak with Koda. You’ll be attacked by those delinquent students again, and the game will prompt you about disarming enemies with weapons using Snake style.
After they’ve been dealt with you’ll have some more cutscenes, then need to find an “In” so that you can hang out at the school with your fellow kids and investigate without suspicion. Follow the marker over to the school entrance to where you’ll be stopped by the girl who found your security cameras in Chapter 1. You’ll have multiple options to pick from to try and get away from her, but it doesn’t matter what you pick before the “Negotiate” option shows up, then pick that one. To make a deal with her, inspect the bottom right of the board behind her then offer “How about I become your club advisor?”.
The MRC
Follow Amasawa to the nearby Mystery Research Club room, which is basically a broom closet under the nearby stairwell. You’ll now be introduced to the School Stories content of the game. You have one short intro with the Dance Club investigation that you are obligated to do right now for the story, then the rest of the content is wholly separate from the main story and you can do it at any time.
Follow Amasawa down to the basement where you’ll meet the Dance Club members who you need to investigate. When you get there the girls want some advice on how to spice up their dance routine, where you should suggest “Make a bigger impact.” Then suggest “What if you threw in some kung fu?” because this is the only thing Yagami can actually teach them himself.
You’ll now be introduced to the most competent rhythm minigame ever included in a Yakuza series game. Face buttons control the inputs like you’re playing DDR, then the directional buttons are used to activate your special moves that change up how the inputs are registered. This first dance is very short, only 10 notes long as an introduction to the minigame.
After the dance, you will automatically return to the MRC room to speak with Amasawa further. Once the conversation is complete you’ll be free to continue the School Stories at any time, or just continue right along with the main story.
More School Investigation
Now you will need to run around to a few locations in the school asking more questions. First, go into the gymnasium to speak to the basketball players, then up to classroom 2-2 to look for Koda. You’ll then be asked to go up to the third floor to speak with the delinquent students, because they apparently have info for you. Knowingly falling into the most obvious trap ever, you will now need to fight a number of delinquents in the classroom. They aren’t too tough, but watch for the ones that have weapons, and remember that you can disarm (most) of them in Snake style.
After dealing with the first group Yagami will end up jumping out the window to escape. Follow the wall along to the left, then climb the pipes up to roof level. When you reach the roof you are meant to head left to continue, but go to the right first where you can pick up the skill book “Book of the Wounded”. During the story, there are a few occasions where you can find special items like this for free. If you miss them during the story they become available from vendors later, just for a potentially large cost. There is a Toughness Z you can grab from the far end of the roof before going down the next set of pipes to continue.
When you get back inside you’ll be dealing with the students one more time, along with the Senpai Leader student who functions as this chapter’s boss fight. He wields a box cutter which since it’s a blade will inflict bleeding if it hits you. Special enemies like him that wield weapons also typically can’t be disarmed, you can still perform the disarm move but they’ll still just hold on to the weapon, so just make sure to watch out for it. He will also do a deadly attack once he reaches half health that you should make sure to counter.
After the fight there will be some more scenes, then you will need to look for Sawa-sensei by going to the faculty room on the second floor. She isn’t there again, so Yagami uses this opportunity to look at the photo on her desk more thoroughly. When you are looking at it up close inspect the photo hidden in the lower-left corner.
After you are finished go back up to the chairman’s office to complete the chapter.
