The Diligence Record in Like a Dragon: Ishin! functions basically as a second Completion List, but with more cumulative tasks for various aspects of the game unrelated to the minigames. You are introduced to it automatically during the story in Chapter 2, at the same time you are told about Virtue, which is a secondary currency you earn from various things along with completing items in the Diligence Record. None of the progress towards this is tracked prior to being introduced to this, so don’t worry about any of these requirements in Chapter 1.
Completing all tasks is required for a number of trophies, the final one being The Gods Hath Been Humbled for completing 100% of the items in the Diligence Record. No requirements are missable and they can all be completed after the story in Premium Adventure.
Note that the higher tiers of items aren’t shown in the menu until the lower levels have been completed, so the total number of tasks isn’t actually shown until you’ve completed or are on the final stage of them. The total number of items in each category is shown along with each to help with tracking and judging how many you have left.
Adventure – 61 total
The Adventure section covers most things related to interacting with people, shops, or minigames in a non-specific manner in the game world. You still want to actively keep in mind things like pots, shrines, and wells while playing so you don’t need to spend a bunch of time grinding them later.
Garrulous Goshi/Rablin’ Ronin/Socialite Samurai: Talk to people or animals 500 times.
Simply from interacting with people and animals the required number of times. This includes all interactions with Bond and Substory characters as well, so you are nearly guaranteed to have this done without trying.
Restaurant Rookie/Regular/Aficionado: Eat at a restaurant 200 times.
This counts individual transactions/visits to restaurants, so if you want to save time while working on purchasing every item from every restaurant do them one at a time.
Scrounger/Rummager/Hoarder: Obtain 100 items from pots.
Pots can be found all over the place, typically along walls and in corners. If the pot has an item to grab you can see the lid on top, instead of sitting beside it. Make sure to interact with them every time you find them until you complete these requirements, as this would be very tedious to do on its own.
Ninja of Ninja/Swami of Kami/Shinobo of Shinto: Pray at shrines or jizo statues 100 times.
You are introduced to the shrines at the same time you are introduced to virtue, and jizo statues are the small ones marked on the map. Make sure to pray at them every time you come across them until you complete these requirements, as they would also be very tedious to do later.
Play Spotter/Mate/Maker: Play minigames 100 times.
This counts individual instances of minigames, so every time you enter and exit the minigame itself. There are a number of bonds that require entering and exiting the minigame in between to increase the bond, so you are likely to earn this while working on other requirements.
Gobbler/Gorger/Glutton/Gourmand: Eat food from your inventory 400 times.
Consume individual food items from your inventory. If you need to grind this out you can just fill your inventory with a bunch of food items and consume them all at once. Hattai which is available at Ichikura General Goods is one of the cheapest options.
At Death’s Door/Alive and Kicking/On the Mend/Fit as a Fiddle: Use 200 medicinal items.
Like the above, but specifically for medicinal items. You are more likely to earn this through normal play as medicinal items are much more useful in general than food.
Uplifted/Elevated/Spirited Away: Travel by palanquin 30 times.
Palanquin is this game’s version of the taxi. 30 times isn’t very many, so you’ll likely get this without trying while working on other requirements.
Relaxin’ in Rakunai (Lv.3/7/MAX): Raise your reputation level in Rakunai to MAX.
Reputation in each area is raised by interacting with the stores and events, purchasing and selling items, etc. Rakunai is the northern side of the map, and you can max your reputation here by grinding Chicken Racing and then selling Platinum Plates to Ebisu Pawn Rakunai.
Rockin’ in Rakugai (Lv.3/7/MAX): Raise your reputation level in Rakugai to MAX.
Rakugai is the center area of the map, and you will likely raise the reputation to max by purchasing weapons from Rakugai Arms Dealer to donate to Kurogane smithing.
Muckin’ through Mukurogai (Lv.3/7/MAX): Raise your reputation level in Mukurogai to MAX.
Mukurogai is the slum area you visit early in the game, which requires entering by boat or through the gate to the north. There isn’t a lot to do here to raise reputation, so the easiest way is also just buying items from the arms dealer. If you’ve already maxed the level at Kurogane smithing the arms dealer also sells Flame Rounds you can buy to use yourself.
See Me in Fishimi (Lv.3/7/MAX): Raise your reputation level in Fushimi to MAX.
Fushimi is the location on the south end of the map. The easiest way to raise your rep here is the same as Rakunai, just selling Platinum Plates to Ebisu Pawn Fushimi.
Goin’ Around Gion (Lv.3/7/MAX): Raise your reputation level in Gion to MAX.
Gion is the area to the east that you reach by going over the northern bridge. It is the most annoying to level rep here, as the only options are the two restaurants for spending money. There is also the “Gion Reputation Improved” item that can be purchased from the virtue exchange at a shrine, but this uses a ton of virtue to actually level reputation, so you’re better off just eating repeatedly at Kitchen Aoba because virtue is harder to come by than money.
Spendthrift/Ryo for Ryoma/Shinsengumi Swanky/Bakumatsu Baller: Spend 500 ryo.
You will end up spending 10s of thousands of ryo while working on all the smithing completion requirements, so you will easily complete these without specifically trying.
Tourist/Traveler/Globetrotter: Walk 150 km.
This counts all movement, both walking, sprinting, and movement in combat, so you will earn this without trying while completing everything.
Runner’s Stitch/Second Wind/Runner’s High: Sprint 50 km.
This only counts distance specifically while sprinting, but you should reach this total while just going around the game world as long as you aren’t purposely not sprinting for some reason.
Wellness Check/Well Worth It/All’s Well That Ends Well: Draw water from well 50 times.
There are 3 wells in the main game area: one immediately south of Rakugai Arms Dealer, one just outside the entrance of the Shrine in Rakunai, and one in the back of Shinsengumi HQ. Make sure to pull water from them every time you go near them, as there is a cooldown on how frequently you can pull from them and this would be a tedious thing to grind later on.
Proper Postboy/Capable Courier/Distinguished Deliverer: Deliver packages for the Frequently Lost Courier 20 times.
The Frequently Lost Courier is a character you can start a bond with after completing substory 53. You can continually go back to him to deliver a parcel to another character in the stated area for a monetary reward. Do this 20 number of times.
Lumberjoke/Lumberjerk/Lumberjacked: Chop 500 logs.
In the southwest corner of Fushimi beside the palanquin you can find a man who you help chop logs for substory 52. You need to chop a total of 300 for his substory and bond, so for this requirement just complete the minigame to 100 logs twice more.
Another Life – 36 total
The Another Life section covers everything related to the second house, along with fishing. This also has some tedious requirements you should keep in mind of whenever you go to the house, such as collecting eggs and playing with your dog(s) and cat(s).
Green Thumb/Farmhand/Grower/Farmer/Agricultured: Harvest 1500 produce items.
You don’t need to harvest things manually, you can use the “Harvest All” option in the planting menu to collect all items. You can also buy fertilizer from shops to speed up growing, and can enter and leave the house to allow yourself to add fertilizer again.
Ginseng Grabber: Harvest 50 ginseng roots.
This and the other 4 plant-specific requirements are for harvesting a total number of the specific item, not that item that many times. Ginseng has an extremely long growth time, so when you’re trying to do this it would be recommended you just fill your garden with Ginseng and do it all in one cycle.
Cabbage Clutcher/Taro Taker/Tomata Tugger/Strawberry Snatcher: Harvest 100 (item).
Same as ginseng, but with 100 of each of these plants. They all grow more than one at a time and have faster growth times, so you don’t need to worry about specifically growing a full garden of them unless you want to do growing that way.
Cookbook Curious/Kitchen Colt/Dinner Director/Chef Savant/Mealtime Messiah: Cook 100 times.
Cooking is done at the kitchen in your other house. Don’t worry specifically about this until you’ve cooked each meal at least once and finished all substories and are done with orders, then you can just make Homemade Pickles over and over.
Hound Helper/Canine Caretaker/Dogg Do-gooder: Play with your dog 30 times.
This can be any interaction with your dogs, not just play. To get the chance to interact with your dogs again you need to actually leave the house back to the main map or go inside and cook, it doesn’t cycle by just entering your house.
Feline Feeler/Cat Counselor/Kitty Cogniscenti: Play with your cat 30 times.
This can be any interaction with your cats, not just play. You can re-interact with them every time you cook, so if you still have to do this make sure you’re interacting with them while grinding cooking.
Scramblin’ Man/Omelette You Finish/Nugget to the Top: Collect 30 eggs.
To get chickens you first need to purchase the Chicken Coop-related options for virtue from the shrine. Once you do the coop is to the left of the house and can be checked for an egg every time you enter the area. Make sure to check this every time you return to the house, as you have to leave back to the main game area to cycle the egg being available.
Back in Business/Family Trade/Industry Leader: Fulfill 200 trade orders with Haruka.
Trade orders are filled by interacting with the cabinet in the house, then turning in items from your inventory or warehouse. Orders require plants, fish, healing items, and sometimes junk or other valuables like plates. The orders keep cycling through and increase in value over time, so while the produce ones are the fastest to complete they aren’t always worth as much. Note that there is also a completion requirement for doing 100 ryo worth of trade, so you need to make sure you have met that requirement even if you complete 200 orders.
Apprentice Angeler/Astute Angler/Authoritative Angler: Catch 100 fish.
This requires catching 100 total of any kind of fish. Don’t worry to much about the total, you need to catch all unique fish and specifically 10 Tuna (with one being “big”) so you will get a lot of duplicates. If you need to catch extra just go to your favorite spot and fish until your done, or you can try to catch fish specifically to complete orders. Also see Fishing Guide.
Bluefin Beginner: Catch 10 tuna.
For this requirement, you need to specifically catch 10 tuna. There is a spot in Ocean fishing where you can hook tuna nearly 100% of the time, so this just take a bit extra effort. Check out the fishing guide for more information: Fishing Guide.
Bluefin Boss: Catch a big tuna.
A “big” tuna is one of a specific size when you are catching a gold “grade” one. The way catching tuna works is basically that in the current instance of fishing, you’re in you will only catch the same grade of fish. So if you enter the ocean fishing spot and catch a tuna and it’s gold, that means all ones you catch will be gold grade. If you don’t catch a gold grade one leave and come back to try again. Once you are catching gold grade ones, you just need to keep trying to catch tuna until one of them is “big”. Also see Fishing Guide.
Sweet Dreams/Freshening Up/I’m Listening: Deepen your trust with Haruka and enjoy a restful/refreshing/relaxing Slice of Life.
These 3 requirements are for seeing extra scenes in the house. You first need to deepen your trust with Haruka (the bar that fills whenever you do things there) then after reaching the trust milestones you interact with the bath, the pot, and the futon for an extra scene.
See You Soon: Meet Haruka and enjoy a bountiful Slice of Life.
You complete this requirement automatically when you are introduced to Another Life during the story.
Friendships (Shops) – 24 total
The Friendships (Shops) section covers all the bonds with shop owners. Most of them are raised just from making purchases from the shops themselves and can be farmed just by making multiple individual transactions or visits.
Bond with Utamaruya Owner (Karaoke): Deepen your bond with the Utamaruya Owner.
This only increases once per singing “session”, so while completing songs you want to make sure you quit each time and interact with him again. If you do mess up and don’t quit, you can grind this by starting Ichizu Samurai, then quit during the song (it’s the only song you can do this during). There will be a point where you won’t be able to sing anymore because the owner needs to clean up, you’ll just need to leave the area and come back to fight some men out front. Once defeated your bond is raised to max.
Bond with Umai Udon Owner (Udon minigame): Deepen your bond with the Umai Udon Owner.
Trigger substory 41, then complete it to unlock the bond. Increases from both playing the minigame and purchasing Udon. It is recommended you play the Udon minigame first until you earn the trophy and finish the completion requirement for getting Divine Rank, then you can just keep buying Udon from him to raise your rank further.
Bond with Maijo-sensei (Buyo Dance minigame): Deepen your bond with Maijo-sensei of Nichibuza
Trigger substory 1, which then allows you to play Buyo Dance (fan dancing). This then works the same as Karaoke, where it raises after each song completion, and you’re booted out of the menu every time so you don’t need to worry about missing chances for bond raises. Once you raise your bond high enough you have to do a performance of Fubuki Kouta on Geisha difficulty, so practice that first if needed to make sure you get a passing grade during the performance.
Bond with Shinto Priest (Virtue Shop): Deepen your bond with the Shinto Priest.
To open the Priest’s shop, you first need to unlock the “Shinto Priest’s Exchange” items by exchanging Virtue at a shrine. Once you’ve unlocked at least one level you can speak with the priest at the Rakunai shrine (northmost part of the map) and then trade extra Virtue for various items. This would not be recommended though until you’ve unlocked all other items from the shrine Virtue menu. When you reach the end of the friendship bar you’ll have an event where you chase down a man, and have to check 4 spots in the area to find him. Once you do that you complete the friendship.
Bond with Akari: Deepen your bond with Akari the Shrine Maiden.
Akari is a Shrine Maiden who appears at the Rakunai shrine (northmost part of the map) starting in Chapter 4. She is included in the Shop portion of the Diligence Record for some reason, but she functions like the other non-shop friendships. You can raise the friendship bar with her by speaking to her. You can rush this by continually leaving the area and coming back, speaking to her each time (going into Ginryu’s dojo works). At a point, she’ll say she isn’t feeling well and Ryoma offers to get her medicine. Give her any healing item from your inventory. When you almost max out the bar she’ll ask you a question about Haruka, answer however you like to complete the friendship.
Bond with Hanamaru Udon Employee: Deepen your bond with the Hanamaru Udon Employee.
Increases from ordering food at the restaurant. Once you raise the friendship all the way the employee makes a new dish that you can buy, which is the final one on the completion list for this restaurant.
Bond with Anna (Courtesan Games): Deepen your bond with Anna the Courtesan.
This increases from playing the Courtesan Minigames. After completing all games the first time you play the games one at a time for the higher difficulties, and you should max this friendship while working on those. There isn’t anything extra when you raise her bond all the way.
Bond with Mahjong House Residents (Mahjong): Deepen your bond with the Majong House Residents.
To trigger this you need to play a game of Mahjong, then try to leave the building, prompting a response from the man who you buy tags from. To increase the level you need to attempt to leave the building in between each game, just quitting out doesn’t increase it. For the final bit you need to fully leave the parlor, then reenter the building and you’ll be prompted to play the advanced table. You can start and then immediately quit if you want, don’t need to play a full game.
Bond with Shogi Parlor Owner (Shogi): Deepen your bond with the Shogi Parlor Owner.
Increases by playing games of Shogi. You need 3 wins for completion anyway (Challenge mode counts), then after you just need to play one match and can immediately quit. The next time you come in he wants to play a match with you, but you can also just immediately quit and it counts, completing the friendship.
Bond with Cho-Han Dealer (Cho-Han): Deepen your bond with the Cho-Han dealer.
To trigger this you need to play a game of Cho-Han at the Gambling Den, then try to leave the building. After that, the bond increases every time you quit playing Cho-Han, so if you manage to do the completion requirement before the bond, you can start playing, make one bet, then quit (if you quit without betting the bond doesn’t increase). For the final friendship bit she offers you a game where you bet 10 ryo, getting back 20 if you win and “something special”. You want to save before this because you have to actually win, when you do you max out the friendship.
Bond with Chicken Race Receptionist (Chicken Race Betting): Deepen your bond with the Chicken Race Receptionist.
Head to the Chicken Racing building in Rakugai, purchase some tags, and enter the racing. You can just immediately quit out now to get the first step of the bond. You can then just keep entering and exiting to raise the bond further, even without making bets. The final interaction the choice you make doesn’t matter.
Bond with Ichikura Owner (Ichikura General Goods): Deepen your bond with the Ichikura Owner.
Increases from making purchases at the store. At a point, you’ll have a scene where you chase down a shoplifter, and after catching them you complete the friendship.
Bond with Sushi Zanmai Chef: Deepen your bond with the Sushi Zanmai Chef.
Increases from making purchases at the restaurant. Eventually, he’ll say he has fresh tuna, and you need to actually leave the building and reenter to trigger the final interaction.
Bond with Fukufuku Pub Owner: Deepen your bond with the Fufufuka Pub Owner.
Increases from ordering food from the restaurant. It doesn’t matter what you’re ordering, so once you’ve ordered each item once you can just repeat ordering the cheapest items. When he says they’re out of sake you’ll need to leave the area and return to trigger the final friendship scene. Choose the nicer options: “No” > “Water would taste better”.
Bond with Ecchudo Apothecary: Deepen your bond with the Ecchudo Apothecary.
Agree to try his experimental medicine to raise friendship level. Most levels require you not to be at full health to agree to try the treatment. The final level completes the friendship and allows you to buy Longevity Pills from him, one of the best medicines.
Bond with Uji Tea Parlor Girl: Deepen your bond with the Uji Tea Parlor Girl.
Increases from ordering food from the restaurant. After the first couple of orders more items will become available in her inventory. Eventually, there will be a scene where she leaves to break up with her boyfriend, then the next time you come back you’ll have to fight him, completing the friendship.
Bond with Don Quijote Employee: Deepen your bond with the Don Quijote Employee.
Increases from making purchases at Don Quijote. Eventually, he’ll tell you he’s out of change and you need to come back later. While you’re leaving a lady stops you to ask where to find Rice Bales. Head outside the front of the store and Ryoma will automatically spot them when you go near, bringing the customer out. Head back inside for a scene, completing the friendship.
Bond with Ebisu Pawnbroker: Deepen your bond with Ebisu Pawnbroker in Rakunai.
Increases from purchasing or selling items to the store. Eventually, you will offer to find the owner someone who is looking to sell antiques so he can get more in the store. If you don’t find this person you will eventually reach a point where you can’t buy or sell anything at the store, and need to find the person. In Rakunai go directly south of Fermented Goods and there will be a man standing near the wall you can talk to, who is looking to sell antiques. Ryoma sends him over, then you can return to Ebisu Pawn and speak to him again, completing the friendship.
Bond with Kasuga Okami: Deepen your bond with the Kasuga Okami.
Increases from ordering food from the restaurant. Once you’ve raised the friendship enough you’ll fight a rowdy customer, completing the friendship.
Bond with Kitchen Aoba Chef: Deepen your bond with the Kitchen Aoba Chef.
Increases from ordering food from the restaurant. Eventually, he’ll ask what kind of special meal you’d like, and you can answer however you want. Next time you come in he’ll serve that meal, completing the friendship (this doesn’t add new items to his inventory).
Bond with Greengrocer: Deepen your bond with the Greengrocer.
Increases from buying items from the shop. Eventually, he’ll let you know that he’s short on carrots, and you can give him 10 from your inventory, completing the friendship.
Bond with Rakugai Arms Dealer: Deepen your bond with the Arms Dealer in Rakugai.
Increases from buying items from the shop. Note that this bond goes up very slow and doesn’t increase faster if you buy a bunch of items at once, so while raising it just buy one item at a time. He’ll ask questions of you at certain points, but your answers don’t matter. After the third question you’ll complete the friendship and can buy an extra item from the shop.
Bond with Palanquin Bearer: Deepen your bond with the Palanquin Bearer.
The Palanquin Bearers are this game’s version of the taxi and can be found at a few spots around the map. You increase their friendship by using them. When you reach the point of maxing out the friendship, there will be a scene that occurs where you need to fight a group of bandits, then the friendship is maxed out and they post palanquin at another spot in the city.
Bond with Momokawa Brothers (Shippoku Momokawa restaurant): Deepen your bond with the Momokawa Brothers.
Increases from eating at the restaurant. Eventually, the brothers want to have a competition where you decide whose food is best. The option you pick doesn’t matter, once this is finished you complete the friendship.
Friendships – 23 total
The Friendships category covers all bonds that aren’t related to shops. Most are raised either by interacting with the person or giving them items. A number of the people you can then continually interact with after the bond is complete for extra Virtue, though in all cases this isn’t really worth it, and the only one you will need to continually interact with is the Frequently Lost Courier.
Bond with Servile Beggar – Trigger substory 34, and give the man any food from your inventory. You can then return later to give him more food. The fastest way to trigger this is to go in and out of the arena upstairs in between giving him items. Near the end of the bond you’ll have a conversation and he won’t be in the same spot anymore. Head out of Mukurogai and just north of the nearby jizo statue he’ll be standing by the window. Walk by him for an automatic scene completing the bond.
Bond with Hungry Sumo Wrestler – Trigger substory 12, and give the sumo food from your inventory. You can then return to him later and keep giving him food from your inventory (can just be vegetables). If you want to trigger his return quickly you can enter and exit the Shogi Parlor nearby.
Bond with the Revolutionary Chef – Trigger substory 58, and give him cooked food from your inventory. To increase the bond just keep bringing him more items. After giving him three dishes he’ll leave and say to meet him here later, where you will complete the friendship. He also teaches you to make Revolutionary Croquettes, which you can now make at your house.
Bond with Love-Starved Husband – Trigger substory 13, and interact with the man when you have home cooking in your inventory. Come back and share items you’ve cooked with him to increase your bond. The fastest way to cycle interactions is to go into the Gambling Den to the south(if you don’t have anything else nearby worth doing like interactions with the brother at Shogoin Yatsuhashi). After completing the bond you can come back and speak to him and he’ll give you bento he makes himself.
Bond with Sword Nut – Trigger substory 25, then the man will ask to see specific swords. These are swords you need to craft or get as dungeon drops, so you might not be able to complete this bond until you’re working on the smithing grind. If you make them all at once you can show them all in a row from your inventory, don’t need to leave and come back.
- Ebony Sword – Nameless Sword, 1 x Crooked Magnet, 5 x Iron Scrap
- Yaksha Blade – Ebony Sword, 1 x Picture of Ghost, 5 x Metal Sheet
- Vulpecula – Handy Blade, 1 x Beautiful Leaf, 5 x Metal Sheet
- King of Beasts – Vulpecula, 1 x Emerald, 5 x Precious Steel
Bond with Battered Defender – Trigger substory 26, and give the man a healing item from your inventory. Leave the area (going in and out of Utamaruya just to the south is fastest) then when you return he’ll be back in the same spot. You need to give him healing items to fill up a bar each time to progress the bond, better items fill the bar more. 3 Deluxe Vitality Pills will fill it up all the way exactly, and you can buy them at Tasshado Pharmacy in Fushimi. You’ll need to fill their bar 3 times, then when you come back the next time there is a scene and you complete the bond.
Bond with Amnesiac – Trigger substory 65, giving the man any recovery item. When you leave and return to the area he’ll be knocked out again, and you need to keep giving him enough items to fill the bar above his head to wake him up again. This works the same as Battered Defender where 3 Deluxe Vitality Pills will fill up the bar. Once you fill the bar he wakes up, then will be knocked out again when you leave and return to the area. After doing this a few times you’ll have a scene where you discover the cause of his injuries, completing the bond.
Bond with Oblivious Woman – Trigger substory 14, then give her any vegetable you grow. You can then continue giving her items to increase her friendship level, though you have to load into a different area before she allows you to give her another item (such as going into a building or to the second house).
Bond with Veggie-Loving Boy – Trigger substory 66, then continue giving the boy vegetables from your inventory (works the same as Oblivious Woman). You can make the boy reappear by going through the gate back to Rakunai and returning to the boy. For the final part of the friendship you need to make a Refreshing Vegetable Salad at your house then bring it to the boy. Leave and come back one more time and you can give him fish in exchange for Virtue, though this isn’t really worth it as you don’t get very much. Once you complete the friendship you can keep giving her items for virtue, though this isn’t really worth it as you don’t get very much.
Bond with Desperate Fishman (Fishing) – Trigger substory 50, then give him any fish. This makes the relationship available and completes the initial substory. Return later and you can keep giving him more fish each time to increase the friendship rank. Once you complete the friendship you can keep giving him fish for virtue, though like the Veggie-Loving Boy this isn’t really worth it as you don’t get very much.
Bond with Injured Grandma – Trigger substory 15 and agree to help the woman out, then you’ll complete the substory at her house. You can then come back and interact with her and she’ll ask you to pick up various items for her: Ointment, then All-Purpose Medicine, then Yokan. The Ointment and Yokan can be purchased from Don Quijote, and the Medicine can be purchased from the Ecchudo Pharmacy. To cycle the interactions the fastest thing to do is to go in and out of the Shogi Parlor. For the final interaction, she won’t ask anything from you, you’ll have an extra scene and then complete the bond.
Bond with Mysterious Merchant – Trigger substory 27 and bring the man 10 tomatoes. You can then return later to bring him more items he requests: a loincloth (can be purchased at the arms dealer), scrap paper (you’ve probably got a bunch from pots), natto (can be purchased from the Fermented Goods store), and finally ginseng which you’ll likely need to grow yourself at your house. The fastest way to cycle his requests is by running over and entering the Chicken Races building and coming back. You’ll have to leave and come back one last time after giving him the ginseng to complete the bond. You can then purchase a small selection of materials from him.
Bond with Sexy Madam – Trigger substory 59, and agree to give the woman a cucumber out of her inventory. Leave and come back and she’ll keep asking for more items: a carrot, an eggplant, a daikon, and finally a pumpkin. After giving her the pumpkin the bond is complete.
Bond with Junk Boy – Trigger substory 51, then give the boy any item. You can then return to the same spot later and continue giving them items out of your inventory to max out their friendship. Like Veggie Boy and Fisherman, you can continue giving him items after, but this isn’t worth worrying about.
Bond with Trash Dealer – Trigger substory 35, then give the man any item. This works the exact same as Junk Boy where you just keep giving him whatever item from your inventory to max out the friendship. The final time there will be a scene that plays out involving him and the priest, then you complete the friendship. You can continue giving him items after, but like the other friends it’s not worth doing.
Bond with Wood Cutter (Chopping Wood) – Trigger substory 52, then complete the minigame. Repeat to raise his friendship level. You’ll need to chop a total of 300 logs for him, then he’ll leave the area. Come back later to complete the bond.
Bond with Frequently Lost Courier (Parcel Delivery) – Trigger substory 53, after completion you can start doing deliveries to help the Messenger out. He’ll specify a name of a person, in a specific street location. Head over and look for an NPC you can interact with (you can find them by looking for where dialogue appears when you’re near saying something like “I wonder where my parcel is”). Head back to where you met the courier again to deliver more. Note that you need to do 20 total of these for Diligence Record requirements, so you’ll need to keep doing them even after completing the bond.
Bond with Patient Dog – Trigger substory 54, then give the dog some food from your inventory. You can then come back to keep giving the dog food. The fastest way to cycle interactions is to run over to Utamarua to the northeast. After feeding it a number of times you complete the bond, allowing the dog to live at your house.
Bond with Injured Dog – Trigger substory 36, and give the dog any healing item from your inventory. You can then continue giving it healing items every time you leave and reenter the area. The fastest way to cycle this is to go in and out of the arena upstairs, going through the door out of Mukurogai doesn’t count. After giving it enough items there will be a scene where two men hurt the dog and leave. You need to leave the area one more time and come back to fight them, completing the bond and allowing the dog to live at your house.
Bond with Barking Dog – Trigger substory 16, and give the dog a bone to stop it barking (can be purchased from Ebisu Pawn). Leave the area (you need to go through a loading wall into a building or different map) and come back, giving it another bone each time to max out the friendship and have the dog to live at your house.
Bond with Hungry Cat – Trigger substory 28, and give the cat any fish from your inventory. You can then keep coming back to feed the cat more fish. The fastest way to cycle interactions is entering Unyuan (William Bradley’s hideout) just to the south. At one point it will specifically require a Sea Bream, followed by a Tuna. After this you can adopt the cat and have it appear in your house.
Bond with Filthy Cat – Trigger substory 55, and you will automatically unlock the bond. For this one you just need to come back and interact with the cat multiple times. The fastest way to cycle interactions is to just go back and forth to your house. After cleaning it a number of times the cat won’t be there, but there is a crowd nearby. Go near them for one final cat wash, completing the bond and having the cat now live at your house.
Bond with Lucky Cat – Trigger substory 17, and give money to the cat. Leave the area and come back and keep giving the cat money. You’ll have to give it more money each time (up to 1 Ryo for the final interaction). You can go in and out of the nearby Ginryu Dojo to cycle cat interactions. After giving it 1 Ryo you’ll fight a couple of men, then can adopt the cat and have it appear in your house.
Battle – 19 total
The Battle category covers a number of objectives related to fighting enemies in the open world or Battle Dungeons. Most of these you will get without trying while completing other objectives, with potentially a small amount of grinding for destroying objects.
Man of Goodness/Greatness/Renown/Justice: Defeat 500 enemies that harass you on the streets.
Defeat a total of 500 enemies in combat around the city. You should easily earn this as long as you aren’t purposely ignoring fights, especially in Premium Adventure where the fights are more likely to give good items and high-level troopers.
Excavator/Spelunker/Speleologist: Clear Battle Dungeons 100 times.
You will clear way more than this amount while grinding the dungeons for smithing materials and money.
Mugger/Taxman/Redistributor: Defeat 20 Golden Sneaks.
Golden Sneaks are this game’s equivalent of the Nouveau Riche enemies, who are dressed all in gold and rarely around the city. If you ever spot one you should make sure to fight them to save grinding later, though you will likely spend time farming them while trying to get Seals for completion.
Skilled/Brutal/Climactic Fighter: Dispatch the final enemy with a Heat Action or special move 50 times.
Not hard as long as you are aware of it. This also counts the moves triggered with , so you may end up earning it while working on 100 for the trophy depending on how you’re using the special moves. If not, just keep this in mind when fighting enemies in the street and always take out the last guy with a Heat Action.
Demolisher/Devastator/Annihilator: Destroy objects (improvised weapons) 50 times during a fight.
In Brawler style you can sometimes find items lying around that you can pick up and attack enemies with. Brawler is generally a bad style for combat so you probably won’t get this unless you go out of your way for it. The best spot to grind item breaks if you need to is in front of Uji Tea Parlor. All of the chairs and tables there are able to be picked up and have very few hits, so you can go through 10+ items in one fight in that area.
Third Division Recruit/Officer/Captain: Activate Trooper Abilities during fights 1500 times.
This seems like a lot, but because you can now use Trooper Abilities outside of dungeons you will end up using them a lot as long as you aren’t just ignoring them. You will also end up using them a ton while grinding dungeons, so you’ll complete these requirements while doing that if you don’t earlier.

Akari shows up in Chapter 4 for me.
Gage says
Thank you for confirming! Corrected that info.
Joe says
There’s actually a fourth “man of” under battle. It’s man of justice and it’s 500 enemies defeated on the streets. 19 is still correct for accomplishments.
Gage says
Thank you for pointing that out, fixed that now.
Ole says
i’ve completed everything under diligence record, but percentage says 99.38% and did not get the achievement. I’ve used all interior in the house so it’s not that, any idea?
Gage says
Do you have the correct number showing for each category in the menu? Could be one of the one-off items that just didn’t appear because you didn’t do the requirement.
Khow says
I am stucked at 99.38% as well

Hi, for the minigames, goin in and out of the minigame itself is mandatory to progress ? or is it possible to progress with each new games in the same session, like with Texas hold’em Poker for exemple ?
Palm says
You can do it in the same session, but it might be helpful to exit every once in a while to check your progress.
