Kingdom Come Deliverance: The Sport of Kings Side Quest Walkthrough

February 26, 2018 by PowerPyx 4 Comments

The Sport of Kings is a Side Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance (KCD). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Sport of Kings Side Quest and how to win the Talmberg horse race.

Winning the Talmberg horse race at the end of The Sport of Kings Side Quest unlocks the “Knightrider” trophy / achievement.

Unlocking the Quest

The quest is unlocked after the 9th Main Quest Ginger in a Pickle by talking to Zora at Neuhof. Pick the dialogue “I’m looking for work”. She is the horse vendor of the area, marked on the map (by the stables). She will only be there at day. Remember you must have beaten “Ginger in a Pickle” or else this quest cannot be triggered. See the quest giver’s location below:

Zora (quest giver) is the woman in yellow dress

Saddle Zora’s dappled grey

Mount Zora’s horse, marked on the map after you accept her quest. It’s in the stables just a few steps away from Zora.

Bring the dapple grey horse to the Talmberg stables

Ride the horse all the way to Talmberg (note: after mounting the horse you can use fast travel, you don’t have to ride there manually). At the Talmberg castle you can find the stables. The stables are marked on the map of course. Once you get close to the stables the screen fades to black and the horse gets delivered.

Talk to Sir Divish about the race

Divish is marked on the map. He’s usually upstairs in the castle, go talk to him (at day he’s often praying in the left room).

Pick these dialogues:

  • Why don’t you purchase horses from Zora?
  • (Persuasion) Her horses!

Now Sir Divish suggests a horse race to determine which stablemaster has the best horses. You’ll have to win to convince him that Zora’s are the best.

Talk to the stablemaster

Head back downstairs and talk to the stablemaster who is marked on the map. Tell him about the race. He’ll explain the rules and tell you to come back the next day at 12:00 noon.

Go to the Talmberg gate at noon tomorrow on Zora’s dappled grey

Advance time until 12:00 noon the next day. Get Zora’s horse from the stables and take it outside Talmberg (by the fast travel point). There the race will start. Be on time!

Win the race!

Upon starting a quest you trigger the Side Quest “Talmberg Horse Race“. The race itself is counted as a side quest. It’s pretty straightforward. There are 3 posts you need to reach, then head back to the start. The posts are marked on the map so all you gotta do is ride towards the marker, hit the post and ride to the next one.

Race Strategy: don’t stick to the roads. Just ride in a straight line to the next marker. When your horse’s stamina is dropping below 5%, hold :circle: / :b: to gallop slowly while recharging stamina the same time. When it has recharged to 50% stamina tap :circle: / :b: multiple times to speed up.

Because you don’t have to stick to roads you can easily pass by your opponents.

Speak to Divish

After finishing first, talk to Sir Divish again, who is waiting at the Talmberg gate. He will congratulate you and agree to buy horses from Zora.

Knightrider :bronze: trophy / achievement unlocked!

Tell Zora how the race ended

Head back to Zora in Neuhof and tell her the good news. You’ll get 175 Groschen for your troubles and an increase in Horsemanship skill. This concludes The Sport of Kings Side Quest as well as the Talmberg Horse Race Side Quest.

Can’t talk to stable master as he’s stuck entering a shed in the courtyard.

Dunno if it was a bug or something changed in ver. 1.6.1, but I Zora wouldn’t give me this quest until I’d completed Baptism by Fire.
