Kingdom Come Deliverance: Keeping the Peace Main Quest Walkthrough

February 14, 2018 by PowerPyx 4 Comments

Keeping the Peace is the 6th main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance (KCD). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives and paths of the Keeping the Peace Main Quest.

Keeping the Peace triggers automatically after completing Train Hard, Fight Easy Main Quest.

Pick up your kit at the armoury

The Rattay bailiff will send you on your guard duties. First you must pick up armor and a weapon from the armoury. Exit the bailiff’s house and head up the street. On the right side of the street you can find a guard tower where you must pick up the armor. It’s marked on the map of course.

The problem here is that the guard who is supposed to hand you the armor is sometimes not there. He’s either on patrol or sleeping (at night) or simply doesn’t spawn. Go inside the guard tower and advance time to 11:00 AM – 19:00 AM if he’s not there. He will then sit on a bench inside the guard tower. Talk to him to get the armor kit and a simple Bludgeon weapon.

Side note: The bludgeon is a blunt weapon. Those are great for knocking people out instead of killing them. If you’re going for the “Merciful” trophy/achievement for beating the game without killing anyone you should use blunt weapons only.

Join Nightingale on patrol between 11:00 and 19:00

It doesn’t matter if you equip the armor or not. It’s rather heavy so if you had a full inventory already you will now be carrying too much. You can check this by opening the inventory. If you’re over the limit the inventory weight will show in red. Being overweight will void fast travel and you’ll be unable to run, jump or climb.

Some of the armor they give you is very heavy and actually not that good. If you’re carrying too much, consider selling some of the armor.

Now head to the guard called Nightingale by the church. Talk to him to start the next step. He’s only there between 11:00 and 19:00 so advance the time if necessary (press Touchpad on PS4 to wait).

Talking to him also unlocks the Courtship Side Quest.

Follow Nightingale

Not much to explain here, just follow him around.

Sit Down with Nightingale / Play Dice

In the dialogue you can choose to play dice with Nightingale. This will give you a short tutorial on how this minigame works. It’s mostly a luck-based game, the screenshot below covers the tutorial. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose.

After the match is over a cutscene will automatically play. It will turn night and Nightingale tells you to go ring the bell.

Ring the Bell

Walk back to the Bailiff’s house where all the shops are. There is a bell on the wall in front of the Armorer’s shop. Interact with the bell to ring it. It’s marked on your map.

Close the Traders’ Tavern by the Market Square

Return to the tavern you just came from. The waypoint marker will lead you to it. Once there you will see a lengthy cutscene which ends in your fighting Lord Hans Capon (the guy from the archery/swordfight competition in the previous main quest).

It does not matter at all whether you win or lose the fistfight against Capon.

This concludes the Keeping the Peace Main Quest.

Next Up: The Prey Main Quest & Courtship Side Quest.

      Sounds like a bug.
What’s supposed to happen is that you play dice, after the match a cutscene automatically plays. After the cutscene it will be night, and you get the objective to ring the bell.
