Kingdom Come Deliverance: A Man of the Cloth Side Quest Walkthrough

February 22, 2018 by PowerPyx 7 Comments

A Man of the Cloth is a Side Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance (KCD). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of A Man of the Cloth Side Quest and where to find Father Simon (the Skalitz Priest).

The goal of this side quest is to find Simon and make him return to Rovna so he can help rebuild the village.

You get this quest by talking to the lone survivor in Rovna. This ties in with the Side Quest “In God’s Hands“. While doing “In God’s Hands”, the objectives will lead you to “A Man of the Cloth” side quest automatically.

Unlocking the Quest

You unlock the quest by talking to the sole survivor of Rovna, a guy sleeping in a hut. If you’re on the In God’s Hands Side Quest, the waypoint markers will lead you there automatically (both side quests are tied into each other). You can see the starting location marked on the map below:

(Optional) Talk to the family of Father Simon’s housekeeper

Exhaust all dialogue options with the quest giver. He will tell you some info about the Priest Simon, who is your main target of the quest. He had relations with his housemaid and you should go talk to her parents. Their location gets marked on the map automatically, in a house north of Skalitz.

Note: this is optional but helps to get a map marker for Simon’s location. You can also skip this and go straight ahead to “Look around the area, Simon could well be hiding somewhere nearby“.

Go to the cross

If you talked to the housemaid’s parents you get a marker to her grave in the woods, marked by a cross. Just go to the waypoint marked on the map and interact with the cross.

Look around the area, Simon could well be hiding somewhere nearby

After interacting with the cross you get a little search area for Simon’s location. However, even if you skipped the last two objectives he can be found here! The exact location of where to find Simon is marked on the screenshot below (the center dot of the yellow waypoint marker is the exact spot):

Kingdom Come Deliverance – Father Simon Priest Location in “A Man of the Cloth” Side Quest

It’s close to a river, up a hill. When approaching the location you’ll run into two bandits and the objective to rescue Father Simon triggers.

Rescue Father Simon

One of the bandits who is holding Simon hostage will talk to you automatically.

Pick the following dialogues:

  • I’ve come for Father Simon
  • (Speech-Persuasion) The Talmberg guards are after you –> he has speech level 0, so picking the speech persuasion will always succeed

The bandits will now go away without a fight.

Find the Skalitz Priest / Find Father Simon

Simon will be sitting in the bandit’s camp, right where you talked to the bandits. However, he won’t be marked on the map! He’s not hard to find though, after the automatic talk with the bandits he’ll be sitting right in front of you. It has happened to me that he didn’t spawn, then I reloaded the autosave and he appeared. See screenshot below:

Talk to Simon and convince him to return to Rovna.

Pick dialogues:

  • They weren’t dangerous
  • Those people need you
  • As you say

If you’re on the In God’s Hands Side Quest be sure to select “I need help with treatment” at the end of your talk. Then he will give you the recipe for Artemisia Potion which you need to cure one of the sick in the Sasau Monastery.

Go to Rovna and report what happened

Now head back to the quest giver to complete A Man of the Cloth Side Quest.

Father Simon is also “recruitable” for the siege mainquest. If Father Godwin is not willing to go to Talmberg you can ask Simon for help.

I somehow managed to get Simon to Sassau with some previous quests before even taking a man in cloth. Quest log says “fortunately i know skalitz priest is hiding in sassau” but i can’t talk to him. Im pretty sure i picked the same dialogue choices when i first met him for the artemisia. This game is massive pile of glitches and bugs never seen anything like this.

I finally understand why the mission doesn’t complete. I followed Simon back to Rovna. And you know where he went? Through a bandit camp in Skallitz. As expected, he dies, which is why the villager in Rovna doesn’t talk to you.

Yep. That was the problem alright. I followed him through the mines then quickly ran ahead of him and killed all the bandits. Waited for him again then escorted him all the way to Rovna. Once he gets to a ruined house in Rovna, I ran back to the villager who gave the quest and it worked! He was sleeping but I could talk to him and finish the quest.

I think I screwed myself over. Earlier in the game I came to Sasau, I don’t remember why and I guess I started “In god’s Hands” quest. Didn’t finish then. But now that I got back to it, there was no prompt for Philip. Just the others. So I tried to go to Father Goodwin and outright denied me, because I haven’t done his second quest. I don’t really want to reload a save because there is just to much progress that I do not want to lose. Any suggestions?

After I beat the bandits and talk to Father Simon the game glitches where I can’t end the dialogue after I convince him to go to Ronova. Is anyone else having this issue?

Yes I am getting this glitch too and it’s really fukn annoying. My horse also disappeared but I can still access the invetory. I have wasted so much time replaying the same old boring mission in this horrible game. this game is junk. I’m surprised it got passed lol. What a bunch of amatuer game designers that are now rich.
