Sheep among Wolves is a side task in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Sheep among Wolves side task.
- Starting Location: Trosky Region > Troskowitz
- Quest Giver: Innkeeper Betty
- Requirement: Finish Mutt side quest and wait 72 hours (3 days), it doesn’t matter whether you did the optional objectives with the shepherd during Mutt or went straight to Mutt’s location
- Reward: Survival XP, Reputation, 11 Groschen, 1 Cheap wine, 1 Weak Marigold decoction, 2 Bandages, 2 Dried apple, 1 Cooked carrot
- Quest Type: Task
- Quest Description: Herdsboy Siegfried is having trouble with wolves.
Objectives:
- Find the wolf pack
- Go back to Siegfried
Starting Location: Sheep among Wolves
After finishing Mutt side quest you must wait for 72 hours (3 days) in-game time. Then Innkeeper Betty in Troskowitz will get a Quest Tipster icon (“!”). Go talk to her and say “Any news here?“. She will reply “Siegfried the herdsboy dropped by. He was moaning about wolves killing his sheep. Poor fellah, he has it tough”.
You then get a red quest icon on Herdsboy Siegfried north of Tachov. Go talk to him, exhaust all dialogues and say “I’ll help“.
The task doesn’t officially start until you speak to Herdsboy Siegfried, only then it gets added to your quest journal. However, talking to Siegfried isn’t possible until you talked to Innkeeper Betty first to trigger the quest marker.
Find the wolf pack
Head across the road directly west from Herdsboy Siegfried, there’s a little path going through the grass. On that path you find blood at the quest marker is, investigate it with /
.
Keep following the trail of blood along the path. You’ll find the wolf pack in exactly the center of the search area where the “A” marker is on the map.
You’ll have to defeat the wolves and butcher them for their wolf ears to give to Herdsboy Siegfried as proof.
For Lent trophy/achievement: You’re not allowed to kill animals. You can defeat the wolves in unarmed combat (don’t equip a weapon) without it counting as an animal kill. After the fight check that it still shows 0 animals killed under Statistics > Combat > Animals killed. However, the issue is you have to give wolf ears to Herdsboy Siegfried as proof you defeated the wolves. This requires butchering the wolves which kills them. Butchering doesn’t increase the stat counter for animals killed, but to be safe it’s best to avoid this. There is currently no known location to find wolf ears in Trosky region other than from butchering wolves. If going for the Lent trophy, the best approach is to ignore this quest and finish the story to unlock Lent. Then reload the save at the last point of no return in Main Quest 24: Oratores. Then you’ll already have the Lent trophy and can freely kill animals. The quest is confirmed to still be available at Main Quest 24: Oratores so you can backtrack for it anytime. This allows you to get both Lent and complete all quests in the same playthrough. If you find wolf ears sooner you can come back. At the time of writing the Lent trophy is confirmed to unlock when NOT having butchered animals (unknown if it pops when having butchered wolves).
Go back to Siegfried
Return to Herdsboy Siegfried who you talked to earlier. Say “About the wolves”, give him at least 1 wolf ear. If you only give him 1 he makes a comment that he finds it strange there was only one wolf, but Henry explains he didn’t feel like butchering all of them for ears. If you give multiple ears he gives a different dialogue, saying he’s glad there are fewer wolves in the world.
Either way you get the same reward: Survival XP, Reputation, 11 Groschen, 1 Cheap wine, 1 Weak Marigold decoction, 2 Bandages, 2 Dried apple, 1 Cooked carrot.
Completing this task marks two more shepherds on the map with red icons, they will give the tasks The Lost Sheep & Carrot on a Stick. These follow up-quests are still there at the point of no return in Main Quest 24: Oratores.
This finishes Sheep among Wolves side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
