Easy Riders is the 2nd main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Easy Riders main story quest.
Follow Sir Hans’ company
At the start of the quest you will be riding on a horse alongside Sir Hans Capon and his bodyguards. What dialogues you pick during the ride doesn’t matter, it only affects the next line of dialogue.
You will automatically ride into a cutscene where you meet Captain Thomas and his soldiers. After the cutscene you get to select your starting class. There are 3 starting classes:
- Soldier – best for combat
- Adviser – best to win dialogues peacefully
- Scout – best for stealth
What you pick only affects your starting attributes, but you can still level up every attribute as you like. For the purpose of this walkthrough and trophies/achievements, picking the Adviser class is recommended. There are many mandatory dialogues in the game and being able to convince people without combat is the most helpful perk. Whereas combat you can always brute force by getting better gear, and stealth is largely optional. It’s best to stick with the choices outlined in the walkthrough, otherwise you will have different stats and might not be able to succeed in some dialogues.
On the next screen you get a tutorial how Persuasion works. The gist of it is that the stat with the highest score isn’t always the “correct” one to pick. Your appearance and who you’re talking to matters too. If you forget what the symbols mean you can always come back to the screenshot below:
The correct dialogue is the 1st choice “As envoys we’re offering an alliance“, this gains you reputation with Captain Thomas. The 2nd choice “Do we really look like bandits to you?” is also correct and gains you reputation. The 3rd choice (Soldiers) is wrong and loses you reputation with Thomas.
Find out from Sir Hans what the plan is / Call Mutt to heel / Get Oats’ Ring back from Tankard
After the cutscene you spawn in your camp. There is an optional objective here to feed the barking dog on the right side of camp, but it can also be skipped.
Optional Objective – Call Mutt to heel: Approach the barking dog, this is your dog who will follow you around the game, his name is “Mutt”. Call him to you by holding / until he stops barking.
Tip: You can hold to open the Journal, each objective has hints what to do.
You must now find something to eat for Mutt and feed him. Go talk to Oats, the old man the dog barked at. Pick “Have you got some food for my dog?”. You can get a sausage from him by winning the dialogue, or by winning the game of dice to get a ring to trade for the sausage. The correct choices will always be marked in bold throughout the walkthrough. The 2nd choice “I’ll bring you something from the nobles’ feast” is the quickest way to success here.
- “We’ll get food at Trosky” -> Reputation lost with Oats and you don’t get the sausage
- “I’ll bring you something from the nobles’ feast” -> he gives you the sausage and you gain reputation with Oats
- “You wouldn’t want Mutt to bite you” -> he gives you the sausage, but you lose reputation with Oats
- “What would you swap that sausage for?” -> must win a dice minigame against Tankard. If you pick this, approach Tankard at the table and talk to him to play for the ring. If you win you can trade the ring to Oats for the sausage. If you lose, simply reload the last autosave to try again. Bonus: the chest in the cave behind Tankard contains a weighted die.
After getting the sausage, approach the dog, hold / > select “Feed” > Smoked Sausage. This finishes the side objective.
When ready talk to Hans Capon at the end of the camp. The dialogue you pick with him doesn’t matter.
Get kitted out with armour and a sword and talk to Sir Hans
Press to open the Inventory. Equip the “Training longsword”, “Padded coif”, “Composite kettle hat”. Then climb into the training area with / and talk to Hans. If you don’t have the gear equipped he gives a funny response and doesn’t let you start the fight until the 3 items are equipped. This starts the swordfighting tutorial.
Draw your sword
Hold to draw the sword and follow the tutorial prompts.
Defeat Sir Hans in a duel
Missable Trophy/Achievement: Déjá Vu (You defeated Capon during practice)
You must beat Sir Hans Capon in the practice fight. The fight ends after enough hits have been landed with the training sword. The best method is to riposte his attacks. Do perfect parries with when the green shield appears in the middle of the screen, then attack with when the blue icon appears in the middle. He will do the same, but if you start out with a full stamina bar you will eventually hit him. Just keep doing this back and forth, let your stamina recover between attempts. You can also land hits when he’s about to attack, when the green shield icons appears do a slash. It will take around 5 minutes to win the fight.
Sit down by the fire
When you sit down you get a bunch of dialogues. You get to pick a total of 3 skills you can instantly level up. For the purpose of this walkthrough, I picked Speech + Scholarship + Sword. You are free to pick anything you like, but it’s best to replicate the choices from here to get the same results (if your speech stats are too low you won’t succeed in some dialogues).
Crouch down in the reeds / Cautiously follow Sir Hans along the bank
During the cutscene you and Hans will enter the lake and hear girls in the distance. Then you will be at the lake bank. Crouch by pressing / Right Stick. Follow Hans until you reach a girl washing her clothes.
Throw a stone to distract the girl’s attention
If you remained in stealth, hold / to throw a stone to the right of the girl. She will then walk away. If you rush in and scare her she will run away too. It doesn’t matter how you solve this.
Follow Hans on the left path to trigger another cutscene. Your camp gets ambushed by bandits, they slaughter your comrades and attack the girls. Henry tries to help a girl and gets shot in the back with an arrow. He and Hans swim across the lake to escape.
Get away with Sir Hans
Follow Hans through the woods. Stay behind him and copy what he does to remain in stealth. Eventually you will go up a hill, then press / to see archers who will shoot at you. Keep running with Hans until he stops at a big rock. Talk to him with / . You are tasked with scouting the path through the rocks.
Explore the entry point into the rocks / Find Sir Hans
Quickest solution is to take the left path first, which is a dead-end. When you return Hans will be gone. Then follow the right path to the end, which is the correct path. Hans will already be waiting on the other side. (Note: if you take the right path first, it will loop infinitely in circles. When you come back there will be two enemies where Hans was, then you must backtrack on the right path).
Flee with Sir Hans
Follow Hans and approach the fallen tree where he stops. An enemy will attack you. Regardless of whether you win or lose, the result is the same. You get a cutscene where you fall down the cliff with the enemy. Then a series of cutscenes follows which transitions into the next quest.
This finishes Easy Riders main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
