Objectives:
- Deliver the message to the abbot
- Go back to Slava
- Talk to Vashek
- Find the bones according to the description
- Dig up the dragon bones
- Take the bones to Gerhard (Optional)
- Bring the bones to Slava
Starting Location: Dragon’s Lair
To start this quest, speak with Monk Slava located in Bylany.
Deliver the message to the abbot
Slava wants your help delivering a message to the abbot, who is currently located at a small church just outside of Kuttenberg City. Head there and give the message to him.
On the way out you can speak with Gerhart, and he will offer you a separate deal if you bring him the bones. He also says he is sending someone else to get them, so you shouldn’t wait around before completing this quest.
Go back to Slava
The abbot wants you to help collect the bones and give them to Slava to be dealt with. You can head back to him in Bylany to speak with him.
After a scene, you will be stopped by a man Leopold, who is also asking about the bones, obviously the other man that Gerhart has sent. During the conversation, you can try to get him to leave and will need to pass a Very Hard Persuasion or Presence skill check to put him off immediately.
Talk to Vashek
However you end up dealing with the situation, you’ll next need to speak with Vashek to find out info on where the bones are.
You’ll need to pass a skill check or pay him 200 Groschen for him to give you the information.
After convincing him he’ll give you a long description of the location where he found them you’ll need to follow. Make sure to bring a spade with you to d
Find the bones according to the description
For the first location you can head to is the woodcutters camp southwest of the village. From there Henry will speak the rest of the instructions as you reach the points. You can follow along or go to the location under the Dig up the dragon bones objective below.
Dig up the dragon bones
The spot where the bones are located is right at the end of the stream west of Bylany.
Interact with the spot on the ground to dig them up.
Leopold will show up again asking what you’re doing, and you’ll have the opportunity to either pass an intimidation skill check or give him the bones to leave you alone. If you fail the skill check him and his guards will attack you, but they’re not very tough.
Take the bones to Gerhard (Optional)
If you want to bring the bones to Gerhard, he should still be located at the church where you spoke with the abbot, or he may have walked to the nearby Inn depending on how quickly you get back to him. Turning them into him immediately ends the quest.
Bring the bones to Slava
If you are bringing the bones to Slava, head back to Bylany to speak with him. You do have the option of passing a speech check to Lie and give a portion, but this doesn’t then allow you to give the rest to Gerhard as the quest also ends immediately, and they don’t have any sell value, so the purpose of doing this is not immediately obvious.
This finishes Dragon’s Lair side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

Another possible ending to this quest:
If your initial conversation with Leopold escalates into a fight, by the time you reach Vashek, you’ll find that his soldiers have already beaten him up. After reaching the location where bones supposed to be, you’ll find the bones missing, with only an empty, dug-up hole remaining. Forced to return to Slava empty-handed will bring the quest to an end.

Must have been slow. Beat up Leopold and still got the bones
Manfred says
You can/will/should meet them in the woods one the same path you are one when you follow the instructions, they will attack on sight. I guess if you are to slow they get there before you.
KarlosCV says
I met them on the road to the place, they didn’t attack. I kept running, arrived to the place but it was already dug up and the bones gone. Five minutes later Leopold arrived with his bodyguards but they kept walking past the place to the edge of the map where they despawned. I reloaded, killed them but they didn’t have the bones. Not sure what I did wrong, I just talked to the priest in Bylany, then Vashek, then immediately went for the bones, didn’t do anything else.
KarlosCV says
So I’ve tried other approaches but the place is always dug up and the bones gone. I think this quest is very time limited, you probably have to do it as soon as you get it. I did two other side quests in between and it was already too late.
KWa says
Leopold’s bodyguards wanted to fist fight, I pulled out my sword and they surrendered, I didn’t need to fight.
Magnus says
So it seems another way this can play out is that upon digging up the bones, Leopold turns up and starts making threats, only to be interrupted by a knight (with Hungarian shields, so likely in Sigismund’s service) who also arrives looking for the bones. You can then all get into a 3-way fight (probably not advisable since both dudes have a pair of bodyguards), or you can persuade them to each take one bone and go your separate ways peacefully.
Thunderpunch18 says
You can give bones to both people listed above. I went to the monk first then Gerhart and got the reward. Then knocked him out, stole the bones back, put them in storage and went about my day lol
Izanami says
Warning for those doing this quest you will automatically fail finding the bones as they have already been dug up if you do not immediately do it after speaking to the Abbot and Gerhart. I made the mistake of doing 2 other quests/many encounters in between fast travel before finally doing it had to re-load save of talking to Monk Slava exhausted all dialogue options both peaceful and intimidating immediately touched 1st objective and B-lined it to bones and they were gone every time. Re-loaded save back when I first spoke to abbot then B-lined to Monk and proceeded with quest as I was doing originally bones were there.
Izanami says
Note when I say “I made the mistake of doing 2 other quests/many encounters in between fast travel before finally doing it” I mean in between talking to Abbot and then returning to Monk to have the cutscene of Leopold show up not after the cutscene.
Kyle says
So i sprinted to the wood cutter and he’d already been beaten up despite not telling lepold his name and then on the way to the bones i ran past leopold on the way there but they were still dug up
Think its pre-determined depending on certain things being said

For folks looking to go via itimidation route, from what I have gathered, you will need to have around 30 intimidation to succesfully “persuade” them to let you have all the bones. Otherwise you will have to fight all of them at once which was not bad at all since most of them don’t have any serious armor. I was at level 22 and lost maybe around 1/4 of my health to that fight.
Horrid Henry says
Just did this, chose not to side with either the mercs or the quack. Had a 3 way melee and did enough danage to the quack for him to surrender. Mercs also said as much. Had the option to share the bones or carry on fighting. My blood was up and I slaughtered them all. Not sure who to give them to. Is there an option ot straight to sigismund?
