This Judgment (Judge Eyes) Walkthrough will guide you through all Side Cases in the game. Side Cases are basically extra side missions you can participate in throughout the game for extra money and SP. You’re introduced to them early on in the story and there are a handful you are required to do for main story progression, but most are found around the game world either from one of 3 businesses or by talking to marked people on the map. There are 50 total Side Cases in Judgment. None of them are missable and they can all be completed after the main story in Premium Adventure. They have various prerequisites to being able to do them, mostly related to reputation level from befriending people around Kamurocho, and the final two Side Cases require befriending all 50 people.

“A Publisher’s Request” The Mystery Writer’s Stratagem – Requirement – Reputation Lv. 10
Reward: 180,000 Yen, 80 SP
You meet the man and he requests you to attend a press conference for an Author’s new book release, where he will have the different publishers solve a riddle to decide who gets to publish the book. The riddle answer will be the combination to a safe that has the book manuscript inside. It’s a fairly simple math riddle, involving solving for values assigned to letters based off a total for each, then using those values to come up with 4 new totals. A = 1, B = 2, C = 0, D = 1. If you don’t want to work out the math yourself, the safe combo is 4134, just ignore that the safe is a dial safe and not a 4 digit combo lock. Once you punch it in you’ll pull out the manuscript and the case will end.
“Another Mystery Event!” The Mystery Writer’s Gambit – Requirement – Cleared A Publisher’s Request, Reputation Lv. 20
Reward: 210,000 Yen, 100 SP
The publisher has another riddle for you to solve, as the writer has decided to do the same thing for another one of his books. The method is the same, solve a math riddle and input the 4 digit code into the dial safe to be awarded the master manuscript. This one is a bit trickier than the last puzzle, and can throw you off if you’re trying to come up with a substitution answer like the last riddle. Multiply the numbers together, and the number of digits in the result is the answer, so the safe combo this time is 3412.
“A Final Event” The Mystery Writer’s Masterstroke – Requirement – Cleared Another Mystery Event, Reputation Lv. 30
Reward: 380,000 Yen, 120 SP
One final riddle, pushing that safe dial in to input that 4 digit combo. The logic for this puzzle is to basically treat the equations like a clock, so anything that goes above 12 rolls back over to 0, and anything that goes below zero rolls back over to 12. If you subtract 10 to from 7 it rolls back to 9, and if you add 11 to 3 it rolls past 12 to 2. So the safe code ends up being 8925.

“A Challenge” A Final Request – Requirement – Cleared 49 side cases, Reputation Lv. 50
Reward: 1,000,000 Yen, 300 SP
The client wants to meet you over in Little Asia. Before you go over there make sure you have completely full health and some recovery items and extracts. This Side Case involves fighting the hardest enemy in the game, so you want to go in fully prepared. Before you take on this fight you want most of the combat related skills. Basically everything in the Ability category, and all of the avoidance and guarding related skills in the Battle category. Without them this fight will be extremely difficult to get through.
Speak to the man in the coat when ready, and he will challenge you to a duel. You will be transported to an arena when you accept, and you will immediately want to use any extracts you want active at the start of this fight. The opponent will start of the fight by grabbing you and stealing your phone, which stops you using other items. You can still use shortcut items though, so make sure to bind items to those for the fight.
During this fight the opponent basically has 3 phases. First phase is fighting as normal, but the arena has electrified walls that only actually damage you, so you want to try and stay away from the walls as much as you can as hitting them takes off a significant portion of your health.
Once you get him down 2 health bars he’ll pulls out two electric whips that he’ll use to attack you. While he has these out you really just want to try and avoid him, as when he swings them it makes spinning projectiles fly at you that can’t really be guarded. After a bit he switched to a different weapon that causes red balls to fly at you very quickly, and this is where you want to be charging EX gauge to use against him. The balls can be guarded against, along with his attacks, so at this point you want to effectively be tapping to continually put your guard up whenever it breaks. This charges your EX gauge very quickly with having Re-Guard and Heart of a Champion unlocked, allowing you to then use EX Boost to attack him and stop him dropping your health. Because of how fast the balls are you can even charge the EX Gauge back up to full while EX Boost is active, which is very helping. Keep hitting him while EX Boost is active.
At around 2 health bars left he’ll go in to his third phase, which is the same as the second where he uses weapons but he gets a sort of shield up that makes it so you do way less damage. The strategy is basically the same, avoid him when he’s using the whips, then charge EX Gauge when he flings the balls at you and then hit him with EX Boost. Eventually he’ll go down, at which point you’ll earn the trophy He Just Doesn’t Quit, followed by Got to the Bottom of It once you finish talking to him after the fight.

Bryan says
Great guide. One minor note: for the 4 Keihin gang leaders, you never need to defeat all 4 in one threat instance. You just have to have defeated each of them one time at any point.
Gage says
You sure? I couldn’t get it to check off until I did all them in one threat instance, unless that was changed in one of the patches since I did it.
DammitTara says
Just a heads up, with “The Missing Diamond” it’s actually not a late game mission, I completed that and the Sashimi case in chapter 3
