Horizon Forbidden West Relic Ruins: The Dry Yearn Guide

February 17, 2022 by PowerPyx 2 Comments

Relic Ruins: The Dry Yearn is a collectible in Horizon Forbidden West. This walkthrough will guide you through all steps of The Dry Yearn Relic Ruins.

Location – Relic Ruins: The Dry Yearn

Walkthrough – Relic Ruins: The Dry Yearn

Step 1: Start by entering the ruins from the road to the east, where a campfire fast travel point is.

Step 2: Inside the ruins you find a metal flower. Attack it 3 times, then insert the vinecutter module. This destroys the vines blocking the path and reveals a moveable crate. You unlock the vinecutter ability during Main Quest 12: Seeds of the Past.

Step 3: Push the crate forward all the way to the end of the tunnel. Jump on the crate and from there jump to the balcony above.

Step 4: Use the yellow valve to open the big gate. Quickly go through the gate while it’s open (it closes again after a few seconds). This leads to a new room.

Step 5: At the end of the rail tracks, use the pullcaster on the destructible wall (blue grapple point – :l2: + :triangle: > hold :r2: ).

Step 6: This reveals a moveable cart, push it all the way to the big gate where you came from.

Step 7: On the side of the room are 3 blue grapple points on the wall, use your pullcaster on all 3 to lower some climbable beams.

Step 8: Use the yellow ledges on the big gate to jump backwards ( :circle: ) to the beams. This leads to the key module that you need to open the locked door.

Step 9: Climb the railcart and from there jump to the balcony where the red-glowing door is. Insert the key module to open the door. This one doesn’t require a passcode.

Step 10: Enter room behind door, use pullcaster on the vent, crawl through vent.

Step 11: After leaving the vent, destroy the Firegleam. Use the yellow valve again to raise the big gate.

Step 12: Quickly push the railcart below the big gate before it closes, this will block the gate from lowering all the way down. Now from the room where you found the cart / key module, climb the cart and the yellow ledges. Because the gate is now partially raised you can reach the topmost yellow ledge.

Step 13: This leads to another destructible wall to use your pullcaster on.

Step 14: Behind that wall you can drop down to the balcony with the ornament relic on it. Collect it and you’re finished with these ruins.

This finishes Relic Ruins: The Dry Yearn in Horizon Forbidden West.

Glitches all over in this game.
The first time I went through the level, the dry yearn. I pushed the rail car to the end of the track to get the green shine fragment.. once you do that it is stuck past a fallen chuck of cement and you can’t get the ornament.
