Starting Location: The Base

Find Alva – Go to Fall’s Edge

We now need to reach the west coast, the ruins of San Francisco, to meet with Alva and start our search for the Omega Clearance we need in our quest to subdue HEPHAESTUS. As always, scan, engage or ignore any machines you find on your path and in the presence of Tallnecks, we suggest overriding them to defog more of the Forbidden West. On our way to San Francisco, we’ll also get a second objective: go to Fall’s Edge, but this is not needed to progress through the quest. We can just head directly to Alva.

Investigate the Quen Outpost

At the location, enter the broken building and you’ll immediately get the next objective.

Go to Legacy’s Landfall

Exit the building and board the boat to reach San Francisco.

After reaching the shore, make your way to the waypoint as shown in the screenshot below.

We suggest making a brief detour to override the nearby Tallneck to uncover more of this area’s map. At the location, you’ll be automatically welcomed by some Quen soldiers and the tribe. They tell us that, however, the way to Faro’s secrets in Thebes is locked at present.

Go to Thebes

Make your way to Thebes and as you approach the gates, a Thunderjaw will appear.

Kill the Thunderjaw

The Thunderjaw is a heavyweight machine with only Acid as its weakness. It is impervious to every other element, reducing your options to deal damage. However, it has many detachable components, giving you lots of targets upon scanning it. It has few weak spots, most of them requiring you to remove other parts first to access them. Prioritize its machine gun first. This is its preferred weapon. Don’t forget to loot it after.

Go to Thebes

Now you can safely enter Thebes.

Talk to Alva

After the gates are open, enter to talk to Alva who is waiting for you right at the entrance. With Ceo and Bohai joining you, you’re ready to descend to reach the door to Thebes, but we still need to find a way to enter from our side.

Find an Entrance to Thebes

Jump into the water and dive down.

Start swimming in the only direction possible. Keep swimming past the giant room with underwater lava and aim for the blue light. As you swim towards it, you’ll get the next objective.

Enter the Ruptured Pipe

There’s a broken pipe that allows us to swim forward.

Find an Entrance to Thebes

Keep swimming along the main path. There’s only one way forward here, so you can’t get lost. When you reach a giant pipe with turbine fans at both ends, aim for the blue-lit turbine and swim through when it stops.

Then, swim down and to the left to enter another opening.

We need to find a way to stop the turbines. Enter the next room and interact with the console to disable the turbines.

Swim through the window next to the console and swim through the turbine you’ve just stopped.

Then, swim down and to the right to find another opening to swim through. Finally, resurface.

Open the Main Door

We are now on the other side. First, pry the door open and enter what looks like a living area.

In here there are some supply crates if you want to stock up on materials. When you’re ready, resume following the waypoints until you reach the bunker (area with a giant, triangle-shaped door).

Go to the main console to activate the door at the top of the star. You’ll now be reunited with the others and asked to wear some… unusual attire.

Search Thebes for Omega Clearance

Time to resume our search for the Omega Clearance we need. Approach and open the door at the end of the bunker. You should now see Faro’s imposing statue in front of you. Then, head right and open the next door and finally downstairs for another door. However, you’ll be ambushed by two Corruptors.

Kill the Corruptors.

First off, scan the machines to add them to the database. The Corruptor’s main weakness is Fire, so, needless to say, this element should be prioritized. It has one internal weak spot and not many detachable components, so this fight will be heavily fire-focused and don’t forget about their machine guns.

Search Thebes for Omega Clearance

Once the ambush has been cleared out, proceed to the door to open it and continue. Open another two doors and you’ll be in some sort of throne room. Start running towards the opposite end of the room and you’ll get your next objective.

Scan the Device

Ceo asks us to scan the device, so we oblige. Hold :r3: to scan the medical chair.

Search Thebes for Omega Clearance

After another “enlightening” moment from the fanatic Ceo, let us continue our search for the Omega Clearance. Approach and open the door with the bodyguards, but soon our way will be locked and we need to find another way in.

Search for a Way Past the Locked Door

There’s a hatch we can pull open on one of the walls. Pull yourself to it and Aloy will automatically crouch. Then, drop down.

Recover Ted Faro’s Omega Clearance

We can finally recover what we’re here for: Ted Faro’s Omega Clearance. Approach the console and interact with it. Trouble’s a-brewing though.

Kill the Bodyguards

Ceo turns in on us and asks his bodyguards to leave no witnesses behind. We need to dispose of them to survive. Strategy doesn’t really matter here as the room is slowly flooding with lava.

Escape Thebes

Once the bodyguards are done for, we need to escape Thebes for safety. Sprint through the rooms and ignore everything and everyone in your path, prying doors open when needed and avoiding lava. After a satisfying moment, we’re ready to continue our escape. Jump on the rocks in the lava to make it to the opposite door and continue sprinting past the lava and the guards.

Mind the gaps if bridges cave in. Bohai awaits you at the exit and grants Aloy unrestricted access to the Landfall. Alva also joins the Base.

This finishes the Faro’s Tomb Main Quest in Horizon Forbidden West.

The Ceo had Aloy change outfits before entering the main door. Where can you get your armor back? I can’t find it anywhere and don’t see anything mentioned online. ?
