The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament is the twenty-fifth main quest in Hogwarts Legacy. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament Main Mission.
Requirement: having completed Percival Rackham’s Trial, Level 13
Reward: 260 XP, Alohomora Level 1
Quest Info: I met with the Caretaker, Gladwin Moon, and he believes there’s a plot to torment him with Demiguise statues placed all over Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. The Caretaker wants me to collect the moons from these statues which will make them disappear. He’s a bit of an irrational fellow and seems overly fearful of these statues. He’s asking for my help. He says he’ll teach me additional techniques with Alohomora if I bring him more moons. It’s important that I remember that I can only collect them at night.
Objectives:
- Talk to Gladwin Moon
- Remove the Moon from the Statue
- Follow Gladwin
- Use Alohomora to Open the Faculty Tower Door
- Retrieve the Demiguise Moon in the Prefects’ Bathroom
- Retrieve the Demiguise Moon in the Hospital Wing
- Return the Demiguise Moons to Gladwin
Starting Location: The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament
We’ve completed Percival Rackham’s first trial, but we now need to look into the origins of the Dark magic wielded by Ranrok and his goblinkind. Meanwhile though, more Hogwarts business awaits us.
Talk to Gladwin Moon
Warp to Grand Staircase floo flame in the Grand Staircase and continue to the quest marker to talk to Hogwarts’ Caretaker, Gladwin Moon.
Gladwin introduces us to Demiguise Statues, an important collectible in your quest to exploring the world and achieving 100%. Demiguise Statues can only be collected at night and some of which are inside guarded areas requiring you to use Disillusionment to avoid getting spotted. Collecting these statues allow you to unlock doors around the world with Alohomora, the Unlocking Charm. The more statues you collect, the more Alohomora techniques you will earn from Gladwin, thus allowing you to open more and more locked doors.
Remove the Moon from the Statue
Approach the Demiguise Statue and press to collect its moon.
Follow Gladwin
Follow Gladwin as he tells you more about Demiguise Statues.
Shortly after, you’ll learn Alohomora, the Unlocking Charm. As usual, steady your wand with the left stuck and guide it along the symbol’s path to learn the spell. Don’t let go of the left stick and remember to press the corresponding button to gain speed and lose the red spark.
Use Alohomora to Open the Faculty Tower Door
Now press / on the door next to Gladwin to use Alohomora. Unlocking doors in the world isn’t as easy as just pressing / . You’ll have to solve a puzzle requiring you to use and hold both sticks to move the sparks and rotate the dials until both corresponding gears are activated to release the lock. Refer to the screenshot below for the solution.
Retrieve the Demiguise Moon in the Prefects’ Bathroom
Now cast Disillusionment to become invisible. Go upstairs, using Revelio to reveal authority figures and enemy locations. This will help you create a path forward and stay unseen. Get all the way upstairs towards the mission marker.
Refer to the screenshot for the solution that unlocks the door to the Prefects’ Bathroom.
Flank the left side of the bathroom to avoid the Prefects and collect the Demiguise Moon at the end.
Retrieve the Demiguise Moon in the Hospital Wing
Exit the Bathroom and continue upstairs. As soon as you get upstairs, you’ll unlock Hospital Wing floo flame. There’s also a standing Prefect here. To distract him, cast Basic Cast at the horse statue, then quickly sneak past him and into the Hospital Wing proper, then past the Professors.
Return the Demiguise Moons to Gladwin
Make your way back to Gladwin to return the moons.
This finishes The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament in Hogwarts Legacy.
