Hogwarts Legacy has 24 Challenges. None of the challenges are missable, everything can be done after the story. You will need to complete all tiers of almost all Challenges as these will award you with a Collection items needed for the Collector’s Edition trophy & achievement and to reach 100% completion.
The Challenges have multiple tiers that require doing more of the same task. After completing a Tier, open the Challenge Menu and click on the completed Tier to obtain the reward from it. This will increase your collectible amount under the Collection Menu. Rewards include things like Appearances collectibles and Brooms.
There are 5 main categories of Challenges. This guide lists them in the same order as the in-game menu. Click the links below to jump to the specific challenge category:
Combat
Defeat Dark Wizards
Mostly found in Battle Arenas and bandit camps. You will need to visit camps anyway to collect the Trait chests.

- Tier 2: Defeat 2o Dark Wizards (Reward: Gear Appearance – Protector’s Ensemble)

Mostly found in South Sea Bog region.

Defeat Goblins
Mostly found in Battle Arenas and in the Coastal Cavern region.

- Tier 2: Defeat 60 Goblins (Reward: Great Trait Recipe – Goblin-Silver Resistance II)

Defeat Inferi
Mostly found in dens and during some of Sebastian’s relationship questline.
- Tier 1: Defeat 10 Inferi (Reward: Great Trait Recipe – Necromantic Protection I)
- Tier 2: Defeat 20 Inferi (Reward: Great Trait Recipe -Necromantic Protection II)
- Tier 3: Defeat 36 Inferi (Reward: Great Trait Recipe -Necromantic Protection III)
Defeat Infamous Foes
Mostly found in bandit camps, but most of them spawn during side or relationship quests.
- Tier 1: Defeat 3 Infamous Foes (Reward: Gear Appearance – Avenging Wolf Mask)
- Tier 2: Defeat 6 Infamous Foes (Reward: Gear Appearance – Avenging Owl Mask)

Defeat Spiders
Mostly found in nests and in the Battle Arena in North Ford Bog. Can also be found while free-roaming, especially at night.

Mostly found in dens in east Hogwarts Valley region.

Complete Duelling Feats
Whenever you enter combat, an optional feat requirement will be shown. Completing these should happen naturally over time, even without trying. You will most likely complete at least three tiers during the main story and complete the rest during side quests and exploration. The feats are randomly given in each enemy encounter.

You unlock the spell “Nab-Sack”, which allows you to rescue beasts, after Main Quest #28: The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom. Then visit Beast Dens to catch them with the Nab Sack. See Beast Locations.

Upgrade Your Gear
You upgrade Gear at the Loom in The Room of Requirement. The Loom is unlocked automatically during Main Quest #28: The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom. You then upgrade gear with the Loom by using different Beast materials. You get the Beast Materials by feeding/grooming beasts in your Vivarum, accessed via the Room of Requirement (also unlocked during Main Quest #28: The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom).
- Tier 1: Upgrade your Gear 5 Times (Reward: Great Treat Recipe – Ancient Magic I)
- Tier 2: Upgrade your Gear 10 Times (Reward: Great Treat Recipe – Ancient Magic II)
- Tier 3: Upgrade your Gear 15 Times (Reward: Great Treat Recipe – Ancient Magic III)

How many Ancient Magic Hotspots are there in-game? One bugged out so I didn’t get the trace from one. So I am a bit nervous that I will be missing one of them.

I’ve completed a few of these challenges and none, or next to none of the rewards are showing in my gear menu. (I say “none or next to none” because I’m not at the same house it’s in right now, and am desperate for a response.)
The game is currently full of bugs. I wouldn’t be surprised if yours was another to add to the list.
Keep in mind they are glamours or transmog rewards. Did you check pressing Square or the appearance key when hovering over your equipped gear?
The challenge unlocks are cosmetic appearancss. Hover over the item in the Gear menu and select Change Appearance to acces those rewards.
Hover your mouse on the gear category, it will appear a box of information, and you will see “change your appereance” Press F. And that’s it.
You will see, you can equip items, but also you can change your appreances. Your rewards are appereance rewards. Not actual items.
Press F. You will see all your rewards there.
I’ve got 11/12 infamous foes, last one doesn’t exist I’m adamant, can’t find it anywhere, has anyone got 100% infamous foes yet?
yep, already done 100%, sometimes you cant see every foes, cause you do not have explored that location of map
Same problem with me I think the 2 wolves or Alexandras troll did not count in Hogwarts Valley.
