Introduction
Welcome to the GUACAMELEE! 2 Trophy Guide! The long awaited sequel to the 2013 platformer/fighting game in Metroidvania style. Once again you will have to save Mexico as Juan, a mexican Luchador with questionable superpowers. This time around you will have to prevent Otromundo from swallowing the Mexiverse. All this because of Salvador, the main villain of the game.
The gameplay hasn’t changed much since the first game. You will gain some new superpowers as well as regain your old ones. Pollo (Chicken) system has been upgraded the most, which makes Pollo a lot less useless in combat.
The trophy list is very similar to the original Guacamelee!. Finding all the collectibles, secrets, beating the game on hard, some combat trophies and a few easter eggs. Veterans of the first game shouldn’t have any problems with the game but newcomers could find some of the later platforming and fighting areas a bit tricky.
In the guide I will mostly be assuming, that you already have all the powers. Means, I will sometimes tell you the way to obtain a trophy, which might sound a bit weird to you, while reading the guide for the first time but will totally make sense if you go for it in the endgame. After the story you can continue to mop up collectibles in free-roam and repeat the endboss for the good ending.
Optional: Starting Out on Hard, doing everything in 1 playthrough (not recommended):
If you want you can start out on hard difficulty and do everything in one playthrough. To do this, enter this code in the title screen: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Square, Triangle, Touch Pad.
This will save you one playthrough. However, this is not really advisable. It may be a bit too much for the first playthrough for most players. It won’t take much longer if you do a normal playthrough first and then a second hard one. Beating it on hard only takes 8 hours when you already know the game plus it makes for a quicker initial playthrough so kinda evens out. If you’re up for a challenge you can try starting on hard.
Step 1: Normal Difficulty Playthrough (91% Trophies)
Start the game and follow the story, collecting everything you can on your way. You will get all the story based trophies and most likely all the combat based trophies. After the story you can still free-roam to mop up collectibles and find the keys for the good ending. After completing the story it creates a checkpoint before the final boss, so you can go grab the 5 keys and repeat the boss for the good ending — nothing is missable. 91% trophies means, use your first playthrough for collecting all the trophies except the one for finishing the game on hard.
Finding all the collectibles isn’t particularly difficult, but getting them sometimes might be a little bit tricky because of hard platforming sections. If you can’t figure out how to get to a collectible you’re likely missing a power. The luchador powers are all automatic story unlocks. The pollo (chicken) powers are from chicken dungeons marked by a golden icon on the map, some of these are optional but necessary for collectibles. Explore carefully and clean up everything after the story. You can also fast travel between areas by talking to the giant stone heads.
To sum it up: the best course of action is to beat the story, grab everything you can along the way, get your missing chicken powers, keys, and collectibles after the story, when you have all 5 keys repeat the final boss for the good ending.
Step 2: Hard Mode
You will unlock Hard Mode after finishing the game once. On Hard enemies deal more damage and some time-based sections have a shorter time window. You can play the game in coop to make it a bit easier, since one player can draw attention of the enemies to save the other one. More tips will follow in the Hard Mode Trophy section.

GUACAMELEE! 2 Trophy Guide
Guacamastery Obtain every trophy in the game |
Granted for collecting all the other Guacamelee! 2 trophies. Congratulations and Viva Mexico!
I Remember That Being Harder Defeat Calaca |
At the beginning of the game you will have to once again defeat the last boss of the first game. Don’t be scared though. As the trophy name may suggest, the boss fight is a much easier and faster version of the fight from the first game, just to remind you how the prequel ended.
Re-resurrección Regain the mask |
Unlocked automatically while progressing through the story.
Show’s Over, Go Home Defeat El Muñeco |
The 1st real boss of the game, who you will face at the end of the Templo de Jade. El Muñeco isn’t particularly difficult. Use the Eagle Hooks to reach him while he is high up in the air. You should also use the Hooks to dodge his Tornado attack since the Tornado is pretty high and you can’t simply jump over it. In between some enemies will spawn as well, but nothing to talk about.
Between your damage phases he will start spawning chickens, which will fly across the screen. You can easily dodge them except the last wave, for which you will have to activate one of the 2 traps at the corners of the map for the chickens to fly against. This way you will avoid getting damaged by them. |
Severed Defeat Uay Pek |
Uay Pek is the boss at the end of Templo de Obsidiana. The damage phases for her fight are pretty straight-forward. Dodge her big laser-beam and her rings and deal damage to her. Between the damage phases, the room will change its constelation and you will have to defeat enemy waves while dodging her lasers from behind the walls. There is no randomness for her lasers at all, so once you see in which order her attack will come at you, you shouldn’t have any problems at all avoiding them.
After draining 2/3 of her life, she will transform into a big monster which you can’t damage at all. Do not worry, this is totally scripted. The monster will swallow you and you will have to damage her heart from the inside. This part is super easy, since nothing will attack you there. |
Prickly Pair Defeat Cactuardo and Zope |
This weird duo will be your enemy at the end of your second visit to Infierno. You will have to damage Zope first. Your best chance to damage him is after dodging his 2 hit combo of going down from the air in horizontal line, followed by a slide. Once you have damaged him enough Cactuardo will appear. The trick here is to hit Zope on his head to make Cactuardo vulnerable. You will have to use your wall fly ability to hit Zope on Cactuardos head. If there are spikes on the wall next to you, wait for the cactus to jump and roll under him to the other side.
Severed 2 Defeat Uay Pek a second time |
Shortly before facing the last boss the game you will have to face Uay Pek again. This is by far the hardest fight in the game… well… not really. This is another joke by the developers since Uay Pek will go down after being hit only once.
Questionable Plumbing Discover the Pollo Illuminati’s headquarters |
You will reach the headquarters automatically during the story progression, this is also the place where you have to go after finding all the 5 key parts to open the door and get the good ending.
Santa Golpiza! Reach 150 on your hit-meter |
Way easier than it might sound. You will get it no matter how bad you might be at the game, since at some parts of the game you will be playing as a giant chicken which will kill everything just by touching it. I was able to get a 500 hit combo at that point of the game, so you really don’t have to worry about this one at all.
Grapple Expert Use all four of Coscorrona’s special throws |
You will have purchase the skills first and then use them by pressing first when it appears above the enemy, followed by and each direction once (up, down, forward, backward).
Juan Punch Man One-shot an enemy with a fully upgraded super move |
You will have to purchase the skills of the Crocodile Trainer in Skill section. You will have to defeat a certain amount of enemies for the next level of the upgrade to unlock. At the end of your 100% run you will have unlocked all the skills anyway. Once you have the skill unlocked, simply hit a weaker enemy with it for the trophy.
I Was Told There’d Be Candy Defeat a Piñataface |
During the game progression you will face many Piñatafaces, so this trophy is impossible to miss. In case you wonder how the enemy looks, check the picture below.
Cluckstorm Kill 50 enemies as chicken |
You will kill 50 enemies as a chicken by default, since some fighting arenas can only be done while being a chicken. This is unmissable, no way around it.
The Floor Is… Eagle Boost from 10 different hook points without touching the ground |
First you need the Eagle Boost ability, which you get automatically very early in the game. This is unmissable from the story. It allows you to hatch on to “hooks” that hang in the air and look like golden eagles. You do this by pressing . Where you unlock the Eagle Boost is also the best place to get this trophy. From the exit of Los Manglares to the upper entrance of Templo de Jade there are exactly 10 of these hooks hanging in the air. Simply jump from one to the next. When you’re in Los Manglares looking at the exit to Templo de Jade you can’t miss them, in fact you need to use the eagle hooks to even enter the upper Templo de Jade. Easiest method is to start at the upper hook, let yourself fall down and keep hatching on to each hook as you fall. See the video above for exact place and method. |
6-Piece Combo Juggle an enemy with 6 Chicken Shots or Slides before it touches the ground. |
The best way to do it is in Flame Face training arena. Poncho can’t die so he is a good target for this one. Simply keep sliding in Poncho as a chicken to keep juggling him. You unlock the slide power automatically as part of the story. |
He Looks Portable Find Juan and Lupita in the Darkest Timeline |
After escaping the Prison El Corazon, you will find yourself in Pueblucho. Leave Puebluco to the west and you will reach Agave Field where Juan’s house is. Simply enter it and talk to Lupita for the trophy to unlock. You can still return here at any later point (even after the story).
PERFECT Cleanse the Mexiverse of the vehicular menace |
A reference to the Street Fighter series. In Street Figher you could find a bonus stage where you had to destroy a car. Same here. After leaving Infierno you will land in Fighting Street Bonus stage, destroy the car there and progress with the game. While going back to Infierno near the end of the game you will once again come through here. Destroy the car once again to unlock the trophy. Of course you can also still return to do this later, even in the endgame after the story.
It’s the glowing door that connects the regions ‘Infierno’ and ‘Badlands’. It’s visibly called “Bonus Street” on the map (has this actual text written on the map). Fastest way to get to it is to travel to the talking stone in Badlands and drop down to the southern section in the middle of Badlands. |
Talented Player Dodge 10 enemies’ attacks by rolling |
Pretty much guaranteed to be one of your first trophies in the game. You can roll by pressing or the right stick. Not much to add here, since it is a basic function in the game.
You Survived Enter the Heart of Dankness… and return |
This one is a joke by developers to pay back the haters of the first game. It’s a meme cave easter egg. The devs are trolling the haters who didn’t like the memes in the first game. You can find the entrance in the ‘Infierno’ region. Check the video above for the exact location. |
One Born Every Minute Open a loot box |
You can get this in one of the houses in Villachula. This is another joke by the developers to make fun of lootboxes. You will have to pay gold to open a door… another door… a chest… another chest in order to get … well see for youself. You will find it pretty much guaranteed while cleaning up the map for the 100% collectibles. |
King of the Hill Defeat El Trio de la Montaña |
You can find Trio de la Montaña in the eastern part of the Badlands. Head to the location in the map below. Those guys were a bossfight in Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition. This time around the fight will be a little bit different…
The area will have a different gameplay compared to what you have seen so far. You will have to face the enemies in a Final Fantasy like turn-based rpg combat using commands to attack the enemies and heal yourself. It is really easy, just heal yourself when your health is low and you will finish it in no time. If you’ve already collected plenty of health chests and upgraded your special move damage, you can do it all without healing. |
Special Delivery! Feed the hungry guard |
Another trophy which you will run across automatically while cleaning the map for 100% collectibles. You will have to unlock the egg-laying ability first (complete chicken dungeon in Infierno) — see trophy “These are not fertilized” below. The chicken will want you to show him how to lay eggs… so just do it and get the trophy. You can find him in Isla Bonita, in the same house which leads to Tule Treetops Top. It is the west-most house in Isla Bonita. The video above shows how to get the egg-laying ability and where the hungry guard can be found. |
Combo Machine Complete all of Flame Face’s challenges |
After unlocking new fighting abilities you can talk to Flame Face to start a short combo challenge involving the moves you have learned. The challenges aren’t difficult and you will be rewarded with some money after each one of them.
You can find flame face at all settlements in the game, e.g. in Los Manglares where the houses are. You’ll have to talk to him as part of the story early on. To get access to all challenges you must first have unlocked all powers for pollo (chicken) and luchador. The chicken powers are from chicken dungeons marked by a golden icon on the map. The luchador powers are all automatic story unlocks. |
These are not fertilized Lay a dozen eggs |
You will unlock the egg-laying ability in a Pollo challenge dungeon near the exit of Infierno that connects to Isla Bonita. It’s accessible at the end of the game and gets marked on the Infierno map via a golden chicken icon. When you come from Isla Bonita to Infierno, keep going straight, don’t drop down, do a chicken slide when you hit the end of the path to enter the dungeon area. Once you have beaten the dungeon and unlocked the egg ability simply lay 12 of them for the trophy. |
Temple Raider Find 100% of the hidden items in a temple |
Simply find all the chests in 1 of the 3 temples in the game (Templo de Jade, Templo de Obsidiana, Templo de la Serpiente). They get marked on the map when you go near them so just explore all areas and they will get marked. Some may require endgame abilities. If you can’t reach a chest it’s because you’re missing the powers for it. Keep playing and come back after the story when you’ve unlocked all powers. Do note that only the 3 temples count for this trophy, getting another area to 100% won’t unlock it.
y cant guacamelee crawl Complete a Pollo challenge dungeon |
Story related, cannot be missed.
I have nothing left to teach you Fully purchase one trainer’s skill tree |
You will meet all the trainers during the story progression. After purchasing all the skills from one of them you will unlock this trophy. Sometimes you will have to fulfil certain requirements to unlocks the next level of a skill. You can check those in the skill menu.
One down… Complete a secret Chicken Key Challenge |
You will be granted one of the key during the story after defeating the story boss “Cactuardo”. Therefore this trophy is unmissable. This is only 1 key part though, and you need all 5 of them for the good ending. See the trophy “Very Special” below.
Very Special Open the Golden Door |
In order to open the door you will have to find all 5 key pieces. See Guacamelee 2! All Key Locations
Some of the challenges are pretty tricky but not impossible. Once you have all the key parts head back to the Illuminati headquarters in ‘Prison El Corazon’ and open the door there. |
Talk to the Hend Receive the Holy Hen’s message |
First, you must do the trophy “Very Special” which involves collecting the 5 key parts and opening the door in the Illuminati headquarters, ‘Prison El Corazon’ region. After opening the door you will have to finish a series of Chicken platforming areas. At the end of the area you will be granted the message which is needed for the good ending. If you get stuck at any platforming section, check the video above from 21:46 onwards. |
Moves Like Jaguar Defeat Jaguar(s) |
In the southern part of Los Manglares there’s a hidden gauntlet challenge. You’ll need to have learned endgame luchador powers to enter this hidden area. It’s best to do this after the story and after having found most of the chests. This is to increase your health and stamina. The skill “Mindful Meditation” is also a must, it lets you recharge health mid-combat when standing still (Chamoya skill tree). The gauntlet is by far the most challenging fighting section in the game. View the map below for the gauntlet location (bottom left part where Juan is):
After finishing a long gauntlet of enemy encounters you will have to fight Javier Jaguar. Instead of fighting one of them, you will have to face 3 of them at the same time! I recommend defeating one after another in order to not having to focus on dodging 3 attacking kitties at the same time. In case you die there’s a checkpoint right before the fight, so you don’t have to go through the entire gauntlet again. Defeating the Jaguars will also grant you a key part need for the good ending of the game. Again, if you have trouble with this challenging section, go collect all health/stamina chests first and come back when you’ve completed all other areas in the game. Then it will be much easier. The skill “Mindful Meditation” from Chamoya skill tree is super helpful because you can instantly recharge health and stamina in combat. This way you can simply dodge away from the 3 tigers and recharge your health. When only two are left it gets much easier. |
Luchonarrative Resonance Kill 1000 mean, nasty skeletons without families |
Should unlock during the story progressions since by the end of the game you will find yourself in arenas with a lot of enemies. On the way to 100% completion you’ll have to fight so many enemies that this is an automatic unmissable unlock along the way.
El Técnico Táctico Purchase all of the upgrades |
You will meet all the trainers during the story progression. After purchasing all the skills from all of them you will unlock this trophy. Sometimes you will have to fulfil certain requirements to unlock the next level of a skill. You can check those in the skill menu.
Mr. Worldwide Achieve 100% completion in all areas |
A lot easier than it sounds. The chests get marked on the map automatically when you uncover the area they are in. The best way to clean a region is to look at the map. When the map is blurry or has some locked door, you’re are pretty much guaranteed to find something there. For completion you need all the chests as well as the chicken keys.
Simply put: Visit each segment of a region and all chests get automatically marked. For the 100% complete maps, see the following guide: Guacamelee 2 – All Area Maps 100% Completion |
Even Darkest-er Beat the game on Hard mode |
Normally, you will unlock Hard mode after finishing the story once. However, there is a little trick to unlock it from the start. In the title screen enter this button combo: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Square, Triangle, Touch Pad.
The enemies will deal more damage and some times based areas will have a shorter time window. Playing in coop will make it easier in combination with last skill in Flame Face section. This will allow you to heal while holding down on the left analog stick. This can help you while playing in coop, since one person can heal while the other distracts the enemies. You shold also invest your money in upgrading your special attacks, since they will make the fights a lot faster. |
Nacho Libre Defeat Salvador |
Granted for defeating the endboss Salvador in Templo de la Serpiente. The fight has 2 stages. The first one is fighting 2 giants serpents. You can damage them by hitting their heads. The safest spot to be is mostly beneath the snakes.
The 2nd phase is pretty straight forward and similar to Javier Jaguar fight from Guacamelee!. Dodge his attacks and destroy his shield with the right move depending on his color. |
Legend of the Timelines Reach the good ending (collect all keys) |
There are multiple steps to this, essentially you need to go through the trophies “One down…”, “Very Special”, “Talk to the Hend”.
Luckily, it’s not missable because you can replay the endboss as often as you want. After finishing the story, it creates a checkpoint before the final boss so you can keep playing / cleaning up collectibles, find the key parts etc. |

Hey Pyx,
Just wanted to let you know for guide purposes that the Konami code is in this game just like it was in the last one. At the main title screen if you enter Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, square, triangle, touch pad you can unlock Hard mode right from the start. You’ll hear a voice and the screen will change if you entered the code correctly.
Burn1n9m4n says
Thus it’s possible to get all the trophies in a single playthrough.
PowerPyx says
Thanks, will add this to the guide!

Hi PowerPyx! Big fan of your guides and videos!!
I know this is late but I wanted to confirm that I had the unfortunate luck to discover that “Special Delivery” trophy is missable.
The chicken guard that activate the trophy can dissaper after you get the key from his portal without coming back…
Hope this helps someone not to fall for same situation that I’m with since I have to start another mini playthrough for only this trophy.
zemiguelreis says
Hey! I am kinda late to the party but is it possible to unlock all the trophies playing in couch co-op?
Jeff says
Is it possible to get platinum with just the normal edition of the game? and not the Complete edition?
