This God of War Guide shows where to find the Runic Armor Set Location exclusively collected in the Alfheim Realm. Unlike other armor sets it cannot be crafted, the only way to get it is to find it in the game world. All 3 parts are found in red chests and only in Alfheim.
Missable: The Runic War Belt is missable! If you progress too far in the story you cannot obtain it anymore, there’s no way to get back to it after the story!
Runic Forearm Bracers
After using the sand bowl elevator in the lake of Alfheim you will go underground. In this underground section below the lake, the story path will take you past a Nornir Chest (in plain sight) and to a big wheel (Screenshot #2). The wheel is unmissable, you have to turn it to progress the Light of Alfheim story quest. Behind the wheel you can already see a red chest, that’s the one that contains the armor piece. Turn the wheel to lower the platform and then throw the axe to freeze the cog (Screenshot #3) so the platform stays at the ground level. Turn around to find a climbable wall behind you (Screenshot #4). Climb up and press to retrieve the axe. This raises the platform and brings you to the red chest that contains the Runic Forearm Bracers (Screenshot #5 & #6).
- Item Description: Basic offensive armor favoring RUNIC.
- Wrist Armor: 12 Runic, 10 Defence
Runic War Belt
Missable!
If you don’t pick this one up during the story there is no way to get back here. You only have one chance and then this piece will be unavailable forever. It’s in story mission “The Light of Alfheim“, Objective: “Find another way into the temple”.
Just a little while after the last armor piece, you come to one of Sindri’s Shops. He only has one shop on the right side of Freya’s Temple (Screenshot #2). To the left of Sindri’s shop you must push through a little cave. This cave collapses later and there’s no way to get back in after the story. Follow the story path after the cave and you’ll get to the location of Screenshot #3 (a big rock in the middle of the path). Behind the rock is some glowing vegetation. Line up all the glowing dots and throw the axe to make the vegetation disappear (Screenshot #4). Jump off to the right side of the Rock (arrows in Screenshot #3) and circle around the vegetation. Now that it’s gone you can open the chest (Screenshot #5).
You have gone too far if you get to a point where you climb a long wall to a new area “Ringed Temple Interior” and see 2 dark elves killing a light elf (new objective: “find a way into the hive”). If you’ve gone this far you must load an earlier autosave, that’s the only way to get back or else you can never return to the Runic War Belt and you will miss it forever.
- Item Description: Basic offensive armor favoring RUNIC.
- Waist Armor: 12 Runic, 10 Defence
Runic Scaled Spaulders
By following the story objectives you get back to the underground section where you found the Runic Forearm Bracers. You’ll have to retrieve a blue light crystal to make a bridge (Screenshot #2). Pick up that crystal and carry it to the room on the left side (Screenshot #3). It’s a puzzle room with a locked door. Place the crystal there and have Atreus shoot it so it lights up (Screenshot #4). Now hit the 4 spinning signs around the room quickly to open the door that reveals the red chest (Screenshot #5). In the chest are the Runic Scaled Spaulders.
- Item Description: Basic offensive armor favoring RUNIC.
- Chest Armor: 16 Runic, 13 Defence
Those are all 3 locations of the Runic Armor Set pieces. Congrats, the set is complete and can now be equipped in the inventory.

I missed the runic war belt and completed the story. Can I get it in new game+ mode ?
Agiz says
Are there any other missables? according to your other walkthroughs there are none, but inhere you are telling the belt is missable; so are there some other items?
PowerPyx says
If by “other walkthrough” you refer to the Trophy Guide – there are no missable trophies (the Runic Armor Set is not needed for trophies or 100% completion).
Nothing for 100% completion is missable. There are some chests you can’t go back to but they contain nothing that’s mandatory for 100% completion or collectibles.
As for items / armor sets – the Runic Belt is the only missable armor piece (not needed for 100% collectibles or trophies).
